2 WELCOME TO KIRK IN THE HILLS About today s service The Interfaith Service of Thanksgiving was started as a way to get to know our brothers and sisters of faith in the Bloomfield Hills community. This year we will be reflecting not just gratitude and thanksgiving but what it means to work together towards peace in the world. The following prayer invites us to prepare our hearts for worship and our lives for faithful living: Help us to realize that we are part of each other, part of the whole world, intertwined as a net. Broaden our thinking, stretch our imagination; make us aware that, in both giving and taking, we are part of the whole. In our hands is the ability to destroy or build up. Help us to make our choices wisely. Amen. 6 PRAYERS OF PEACE Youth Speakers God our Creator, we thank you for the bounty of the earth, for the abundance of the season, and for the provisions for the day. We pray for those who do not have enough, who struggle to find shelter, who face empty cupboards, and who struggle week to week and day to day to have enough. God our Sustainer, we thank you for our friends and family, for those who support us, for those that nourish our hearts and souls, and for those that care for us in our needs. We pray for those who are without friends and support, for those experiencing loss and those who are grieving, for those who are lonely or estranged. God of Love, we thank you for the community we live in and for the chance to gather and fellowship with our neighbors. We pray that we might get to know those that we don t yet know in our community, that we might come together as one and celebrate the diversity among us as a reflection of your vision of peace. God of Hope, we thank you for this country we call home and the opportunities we have found therein. We pray for our leaders, for those discerning the needs of the people, for those speaking out for the voiceless, and for those fighting to make the changes that will bring peace and prosperity for all. God of Peace, we thank you for the ability to come together without fear to worship you today.
