NURSERY CARE is available every Sunday morning from 8:30 to 12:00noon and every Wednesday night from 5:30 to 8:00pm for children between the ages of 6 months 4 years. The Nursery is located on the main level, down the hallway on the north end of the building. Please use this opportunity for your children to meet some new friends at Normandale! NOISY OFFERING Children are invited to cheerfully bring their Noisy Offering to the front during the Doxology. This offering will help the children of Huch Uy Runa. Huch Uy Runa is a school providing physical, spiritual, emotional, academic, and trade education to street children of Cusco, Peru. Sunday School Mission Peru hopes to raise $5,000 this year. We will collect Noisy Offering every Sunday throughout the school year. JOIN US FOR COFFEE & FELLOWSHIP in the Fireside Room after worship. ADULT COMMUNITY LEARNING (ACL) Vision :00am Fellowship Hall LIVESTREAM AT NLC for those who are away or unable to attend, it provides an option for participation in the regular worship life of our congregation. It can be found on the NLC website at WORSHIP IN THE CHAPEL 5:00 PM In this chapel worship, Normandale offers a 40-minute service of song, word, and prayer. With schedules becoming even busier than thought possible, we hope this service becomes an option for families who are unable to be at worship Sunday mornings. The service will include communion each week and will use three different liturgies throughout the year: For Fall 2018: Breath of God, Breath of Life Liturgy, Composer-John Hermanson For Advent: Holden Evening Prayer For Lent: Taize Liturgy We hope you join us on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm as we gather in worship. *Those who are able, please stand.

Amen. One with the communion of saints in all times and places, let us confess our sin against God and one another. Silence for reflection and self-examination. O God, our merciful redeemer, we confess the ways we live only for ourselves. We fail to see you in our neighbor s face. We turn our ears from voices that cry out. In the midst of chaos and turmoil, teach us to trust that you are bringing new life, new promise, new hope, through Jesus Christ. AMEN. WORD FIRST READING Isaiah 11:6-9 The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder s den. 7 SECOND READING Hebrews 10:19-25 Images of worship and sacrifice are used throughout Hebrews to highlight what Christ has uniquely accomplished through his death. Because we have received forgiveness through Christ s death, we live with sincere hearts by trusting in God s promises and encouraging love and good works from each other. Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since \ we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. 8 *GOSPEL Mark 13:1-8 In the last week of his life, Jesus warned his disciples concerning trials that were to come upon them and upon the world. He exhorts the listener: Do not be alarmed. As [Jesus] came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, Look, Teacher, what large stones and what large buildings! Then Jesus asked him, Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down. When he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign that all these things are about to be accomplished? Then Jesus began to say to them, Beware that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name and say, I am he! and they will lead many astray. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is still to come. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is but the beginning of the birth pangs.
