Served as the primary preacher/teacher. Performed common pastoral care duties, including weddings, baptisms, funerals, hospital visits, biblical counseling, Led disaster relief trips. Being called to preach, I asked if I could also start a Saturday-night service or a college or singles ministry. 7 Reverend Boyd Evans Ministry Objective: To use my gifts as an encourager, shepherd, teacher, and developer to serve as a Senior Pastor and help lead a Bibleteaching, outreach-minded church to be and build the body of Christ. Personal Information: Born: Dothan, Alabama in 1971 Hometown: Colquitt, Georgia Current Residence: McDonough, Georgia Wife: Jenny Children: Abigail (7), Aidan (10), and Emma (13) Education: Doctor of Ministry: Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Graduated 2010 Master of Divinity: New Orleans Theological Seminary, Graduated 1999 Bachelor of Science in Education: Valdosta State University, Graduated 1993 Church Related Experience: Senior Pastor: 8 years Minister of Music and Youth: 8 years As a family: Enjoys the outdoors, TV/movies, parks, museums, and trips Personally: Enjoys sports, books, culture, conversation, and occasional golf Additional information and pictures can be found on ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Personal I grew up in a Christian home in southwest Georgia and gave my heart and life to Christ when I was 12-years-old. I began to keenly sense God s call to pastoral ministry during my junior year in high school, and through a series of affirmations and ministry experiences, I became convinced that God had called me to serve Him in the context of the local church and that I could do nothing else and find true fulfillment in my life. After a career of challenging and sometimes-painful experience, I still feel the same way. I am committed to following God s calling in my life. I understand my unique shape to be that of an encourager, developer, shepherd, and teacher. In addition, I am a catalyst for development and progress, and yet I understand the role and importance of balance, a church s corporate culture, social/ group dynamics, and the power of teamwork and togetherness. Further, I value Godly accountability and shared ministry of the body, and I have a broad base of ministry experience from which to draw - having led and developed a large youth ministry and conducting adult choir and orchestra, and having served in both staff-pastor and senior-pastor positions, in traditional, blended, and contemporary settings, rural and suburban, east and west. Recently, I was challenged to express what I would like to hear people say about me at my 80 th birthday (hypothetically). I would like to hear people say that I helped them learn about or deepen their faith in God, enjoy and appreciate life, laugh, and be encouraged. God blessed me with my wife, Jenny, in Also a people-person, she has a big heart for helping others and is a stabilizing and supportive presence in my life. God has blessed us with three great children, 2 daughters and 1 son, and we long to minister in a church where they can flourish socially and spiritually. As a family, we enjoy the outdoors, TV/movies, parks, museums,, and trips. I personally enjoy sports, books, culture, conversation, and I like to hit the occasional golf ball.

8 Philosophy of Ministry In my understanding, the church is to see itself and function as the body of Christ, or Christ s physical presence on earth, and certainly in its community (Mat. 28:18-20; 1 Cor. 12). This means, first of all, that since Christ is alive, His body, the local church, should also be alive. That is, the church must actively live; it must be healthy, energetic, and effective. Christ is actively building His church (Mat. 16:18), so His church is to be actively building up the body of Christ (Eph. 4:12). The idea is development, maturity, and carrying on the mission and ministry of Christ, leading to kingdom expression and expansion. This is an active, ongoing process, and nothing less than eternity is at stake. Therefore, mediocrity, complacency, or contentment to exist on life support are foreign to the innate nature of the church. The church must seek to actively live by embodying the ministry and mission of the living Christ. Second, my understanding of the local church as the body of Christ means not only that the church is to be alive with Christ, but also that it is to follow Christ and pattern its ministry aims after His, especially evangelizing, teaching, and ministering. First, by evangelizing, I mean that the church persistently invites all people into relationship with God, is sensitive or welcoming towards pre-believers in worship services as well as in the community at large, planning and programming accordingly, and seeks to inspire, equip, and mobilize its members for ministry both inside and outside the local church (Mat. 28:18-20; 1 Cor, 9:19-23; 1 Pet. 3:15-16). Second, teaching/preaching God s Word is necessary for people to experience deepening relationship with God and to understand and live-out His truth and life (Rom. 10:11-15; 2 Cor. 10:4-5; 1 Tim. 4:1-5). This happens in large groups, small groups, one-on-one, in the worship auditorium, the classroom, the living room, at the mall, the lake, the gym, on the golf course, anywhere. Third, any church that does not desire and work towards meeting the spiritual and even physical needs of the people in its fellowship and community is simply un- Christian, period (Mat. 25:31-40). In whatever specific ways the local church seeks to carry on the ministry and mission of Christ, it should always do so in His attitude, as a Godly, humble, sacrificing, obedient servant of God (Phil. 2:5-8). In order to carry out these ministry aims and others, including the crucial aims of corporate worship and fellowship or community, every Christ-follower has a part, and uniquely-gifted believers corporately comprise a uniquely-gifted church. In addition, God gives the local church specially-gifted leaders, including the Pastor. The role of the Pastor is essentially to guide the church in being living, healthy, and effective for God. He is to serve as an example ( elder ), spiritual nurturer/ protector/guide ( shepherd ), and a church leader ( overseer see Acts 20:17, 28; 1 Pet. 5:1-2). Core Values Regarding our own uniqueness, Jenny and I have identified the following as personal core values that have shaped and continue to shape us and our vision for how a church should be and build the body of Christ: Biblical Authority Jenny and I believe that the Bible, rightly handled (2 Tim. 2:15), should determine and drive everything we do in our personal lives and in the local church. We believe that high priority should be given to the practical, understandable, and creative teaching of Scripture and Scriptural principles (Rom. 10:17; 2 Tim. 4:2; 1Pet. 2:2). Relational Christianity We are not interested in the propagation of religiosity, but in nurturing men, women, boys, and girls in an active, two-way, grace-based relationship with the living Christ (John 15:1-11). Further, we see church not as something we do, but as something we are a living fellowship of people who are on the Christian journey together. Integrity Since I understand the Christian life to be a personal walk with or follow-ship of Christ, while a church must be sensitive towards pre-believers, those who know Christ will be moving Godward, growing in their personal relationship with Christ through God s grace. Therefore, I understand and affirm that such Godly growth and integrity are vitally important for all church leaders (1 Tim. 3, esp. vv. 2-9). By integrity, we also mean that the local church should nurture an atmosphere of authenticity, sincerity, and transparency (1 Cor. 9:19-23). Jen and I strive to be what you see is what you get kind of people, and we see honesty and sincerity as essential ingredients for a healthy fellowship (Eph. 4:25; Col. 3:9). Creativity As David served God s purpose in his own generation (Acts 13:36), Jen and I believe that today s local church must seek to do the same. In order to engage an ever-changing global community, the church must become and remain organic and adaptable in its approach to reaching people and teaching them the unchanging truths of the Gospel. Family Finally, as a husband of 17 years and a father of three children, I personally appreciate a church that values, emphasizes, and strengthens families (Eph. 5:22-6:4).
