4 WELCOME President Terry Johnson Welcome to Mission2Sydney Think Tank! Psalm 34:8 Taste and See that the Lord is good. Oh the joys of those who take refuge in Him! In Proverbs, wisdom is compared to sweet honey. Let us look for ways to taste the sweetness of God s wisdom through His word shared with us over the course of our time together and in particular as we wait upon Him and listen to His direction through the Holy Spirit. This is a time to be creative and think outside the norm. To consider and Green Light ideas instead of Red Lighting them. In other words, let the ideas come no matter what. Don t worry about how we can do it, instead focus on big picture thinking that is so huge that we can t conceive at this moment of how we could achieve them. Debating their relative merits is to be left for after our gathering and for our Delegates to the Constituency meeting in August to vote as Conference strategies. Our time together will be best spent in thinking, sharing and coming up with multiple ways to share the gospel in the context of the 3 Angels message of Revelation 14:1-12 with the people of our city. There will be much to share and my prayer is that all of it will be God led and Holy Spirit inspired! As a church we have a fantastic history of Urban ministry bolstered by the words of Ellen White. We have to admit that we have short changed ourselves by going away from the incredible multiplicity of ideas that our fore-bearers had. Our time together is to revisit those ideas and contemporize them, modernise them and come up with new ones to meet the ever changing landscape of people in Greater Sydney. Lets promise to not get hung up on statements like we ve done that before! Instead, lets claim the promise that all things work for good for those who love the Lord. A big thank you to our presenters, worship leaders, those who are sharing their testimonies and to the organisers of this event. Thanks in particular to Dr Sven Ostring and Patricia Goncalves who have put much effort into making this event happen. Thanks to you too, for being willing to represent your church family and participate with us. Think tank is a catalyst for a number of events in the next 7 months. In particularly, we are initiatingww 10 days of prayer for our conference to keep us focused on Christ as we continue the conversation right through to our Conference Constituency session in August. God bless us as we fellowship, think, pray, hear and taste of Gods wisdom.

5 KEYNOTEPresenters DR JOHN SKRZYPASZEK URBAN MISSION John is the Director of the Ellen White / Seventh-day Adventist Research Centre at the Avondale College of Higher Education. John s vision is to develop confidence in God s prophetic gift and the ministry of Ellen G White through teaching, preaching, scholarly research, effective administration and personal example. PR TOM EVANS CHURCH REVITALISATION Tom is the President of the North New South Wales Conference. He has been an Associate Director for the North American Division Evangelism Institute (NADEI) and the Church Planting Coordinator for the Texas Conference. MARK McCRINDLE UNDERSTANDING AUSTRALIA Mark McCrindle is an award-winning social researcher, best-selling author, and influential thought leader, and he is regularly commissioned to deliver strategy and advice to the boards and executive committees of some of Australia s leading organisations. Kleber GonCalves Associate Professor of World Mission Born in Brazil, Kleber Gonçalves has served the Adventist Church in the areas of publishing work, church planting, teaching, and pastoral ministry. Areas of particular interest to him are urban missiology, postmodernism, church planting, leadership, and discipleship. 5
