Group settings, like synod council, provide wonderful opportunities for individuals with various backgrounds to join together to achieve a common goal. While leading group processes can be challenging, I have experienced the benefits of encouraging input and thoughtfully guiding the group in decision-making. As a mother, I am constantly reminded of the beauty and love of Jesus and I would be honored, and humbled, to further the work of the synod for the generations to come. Sunday School song leader and guitar player -Academic Mentoring Program: Weekly visits with a high school student at Iowa City High School Education B.A. in Psychology (with a minor in religion), Luther College in Decorah, IA Family Wife - Jess; Children - Jack (8), Bo (5), Lucy (2) I bring a strong understanding of finances to the office of Vice President and the synod council based on six years of experience helping Thrivent members. I listen and work well with others. Yet, I believe that my greatest asset is an awareness of the presence of the Spirit in my life and in the people I meet daily. That recognition keeps me energetic, committed, and positive. I would welcome the opportunity to serve the Southeastern Iowa Synod.

2 What is the work of the Synod Council? The Synod Council develops the long-range vision of the synod, and periodically reviews the work of this synod to see that programs and commissions are functioning according to synod priorities for mission. School Activities: Swim team, basketball, softball, band, jazz band, marching band. I bring the prospective of teenagers, like myself, that feel that our opinion matters. I am a good listener and have leadership skills. These skills came from being in all of the activities listed above, but mostly from Girls Scouts. I once had to help at a summer camp and helped younger girls with games and activities. I have a good knowledge of the Bible because I attend a Christian school. I like to be challenged because it gives me a feeling of accomplishment when I finish the task.

There are two situations within which the Consultation Committee might be called upon to serve: 1. To serve in the event of a disagreement among factions within a congregation if the bishop is unable to lead the congregation members to a resolution of the issue. 2. In the event that we need to determine whether to discipline a rostered leader of this synod. Specifically, committee members may advise the bishop as to whether he should bring charges against a particular rostered leader or the committee may make other recommendations for resolving the disciplinary issue.

In the event that charges are made against a rostered leader of this synod, the bishop would first work with a consultation panel to try to resolve the issue. If it appears that discipline is required, some members of the Committee on Discipline would be asked to serve as part of a Discipline Hearing Committee and would hold a hearing for two purposes: 1. To make Findings of Fact, setting forth what the committee believes to be the truth of the matter, and 2. To make a determination about whether, based upon the facts that it has found, it believes discipline should be imposed and if so, what the discipline should be.

19 What Are the Responsibilities of Voting Members of the Churchwide Assembly? The Churchwide Assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is its highest legislative authority. Its responsibilities, as described in constitutional provision 12.21, include the following: a. Review the work of the churchwide officers, and for this purpose require and receive reports from them and act on business proposed by them. b.
