1 REPORT OF THE 2018 NOMINATING COMMITTEE The Nominating Committee of the Grand Canyon Synod consists of nine members, one representative from each conference. Responsibilities of synod council members are set forth in Chapters 8 and 10 of the 2017 Grand Canyon Synod Constitution. (Located in the Pre-Assembly Reports.) Nominations from the floor are permitted for the following positions in 2018: Synod Council Secretary Synod Council Youth Representative Synod Council At-Large Representatives Committee on Discipline Consultation Committee 2019 Churchwide Assembly Voting Members ELCA Church Council Persons nominated from the floor must meet all the qualifications and restrictions for the position for which they are nominated. Assembly members making floor nominations are required to provide certain biographical information about the nominees, and you must have prior permission from the individuals in order to place their names in nomination. (The Biographical Data form will be available from the Assembly office during the assembly.) 1

2 Elections by Ratification Some positions to be elected by the Synod Assembly do not allow additional nominations from the floor. In such cases, nominees are presented and the vote of the assembly members is to ratify the nominations. 3 2018 SLATE OF NOMINEES General Elections Section +S6.04 of the Grand Canyon Synod Constitution states that 60 percent of the members of the synod assemblies, councils, committees, boards, and other organizational units shall be laypersons; and that, as nearly as possible, 50 percent of the lay members of assemblies, councils, committees, boards, or other organizational units shall be female and 50 percent shall be male; and that, where possible, the representation of ordained ministers shall be both male and female.
