Living Beyond the Norm Michelle Drake Legacy = Heritage I am thankful for the heritage I have as a Pentecostal Holiness member. I have been a member of and attended PH churches for my entire life. I was dedicated as a baby in a PH church, saved in a PH church, baptized in a PH church, married in a PH church, dedicated our children in a PH church and serve now in the IPHC. PH is in my DNA and my family s DNA. I believe in IPHC doctrine and government. I support IPHC missionaries and ministries. I was raised in the IPHC. Our sons are IPHC born and bred. Yet, the IPHC has changed her methods in presenting the Gospel during my life, thankfully. It s a good thing. The songs we sang when I was a child were good (still are,) but they aren t the only songs to sing today. The use of computers, internet, TV, radio and cell phones has contributed to enhance and increase ministry and service. Being RELEVANT to this generation is important if our heritage is to be valued. Legacy = Gift Who we were and are, our beliefs, our doctrine, our spiritual experiences are gifts we give to the next generation. Are they gifts the next generation will want? Do we just talk about revivals of the past or do our children and grandchildren experience for themselves the power of the Holy Spirit, the deliverance of God and the grace of Jesus Christ? For something to be a gift, there must be a giver and a receiver. I received with thanksgiving the heritage and passion of my parent s generation. I want our sons to receive the same from me. How about you? What gifts are we leaving to the next generation? If our children and grandchildren lived in our community, would they attend our PH church? Would they feel welcome? Would they enjoy the worship, the preaching, the teaching? Legacy = Inheritance Recently, I reviewed our personal financial portfolio and the monetary and material possessions we will leave to our sons in their inheritance. I started to think about the spiritual inheritance they will receive from our family, our church, our IPHC. I am thankful for the inheritance they will receive and enjoy. We are leaving a vibrant, exciting, relevant, demonstrative, relational, powerful, dynamic church to the next generation. New Horizons Ministries is an IPHC Conference with great people, churches and ministers. We are equipping and releasing churches and ministers into their divine destiny. Isn t that what Legacy is all about? 2 SO, who wants to be just normal or average? Not me! When I finish a conversation with someone I want that person to walk away thinking, Now that is a great lady! Don t you? I want the words I say and the feeling given to be a direct reflection of God s love. I want our encounter to matter to the receiver and me. I don t want it to be normal! The opposite of normal is wild. WILD refers to being Women In Lifelong Development. God calls us to be a different kind of WILD. Going beyond normal or conventional bounds Living as a people of God (1 Peter 2:9-10) Not subject to restraint Not being conformed to the world (Romans 12:1-2) Passionately enthusiastic Christ s love compels me to live for him (2 Corinthians 5:14-15) Strong desire or emotion The life I live, I live by faith (Galatians 2:20) A free or natural state of existence Experiencing a new freedom in Christ (Galatians 5:1) Out of Control No longer trusting in my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) Living in a life or existence that is not tame Courageously holding on to the hope I profess (Hebrews 10:23) This is pretty WILD stuff! Basically, it s a prayer that says, Less of me and more of thee (John 3:30). Let s embrace this process of growth and get excited about learning to live a different way: WILD! Untamed! Michelle

3 NEWS Stratford Many of us have had nightmares of being chased by a wild beast, but wouldn t it be great if the chase was reversed? That s the premise of Stratford Life Point PHC Pastor Sean McKinney s sermon series Lion Chasers! To start the series, Pastor McKinney brought in an animal trainer and various wild animals, including a Siberian Lynx and an alligator. Using the heroic deeds of David s mighty men as examples, Pastor McKinney challenged his congregation to do great exploits for the glory of God as they face the beasts of their days and the giants of their lives. (Note: When Pastor McKinney came to Stratford 5 years ago, the church had 9 people attending. Their attendance for the opening service for the Lion Chasers series was 241 and Life Point has averaged 190 on Sundays this year.) We encourage all Ordained Ministers and Pastors to attend the IPHC General Conference. In 2010, the NHM Quadrennial Conference approved the following motion: Form a Task Force to evaluate and study the finances and policies and procedures to Tiger Mountain Conference Center to determine its future. The NHM Executive Council has chosen the following individuals to serve on the NHM TMCC Task Force: Bishop Randell O. Drake, Rev. Don Keizor, Rev. Harley Wideman, Rev. Duane Snider, Mr. Larry Case and Rev. Jared Snider. Each of these individuals brings a specific talent and ability to the Task Force. Each has been given assignments to complete and submit to the full Task Force, i.e., get a professional appraisal of TMCC, research possible camp alternatives, prepare a budget analysis for future maintenance, repairs and improvements (5 years), etc. NOTE: The NHM TMCC Task Force Report will be mailed to ALL Licensed/Ordained ministers and ALL pastors in early April, A Task Force Q & A Session will be at the close of the NHM Equipping for Destiny Training Day on April 27, 2013 at Tulsa SpiritLife. ALL interested persons should make plans now to attend this special session. A vote on the proposals presented will be June 1, 2013 at the NHM Conference Session. 3

(Phil. 4:6) Jesus describes the elect (chosen ones) as believers who cry out to him day and night. (Lu. 18:7) Paul exhorts us to pray continually. (I Thess. 5:16) The successful Pastor prays to Almighty God and does not fear. The definition of Almighty is, Power and dominion which is superior to anything, anyone or any situation, in every way, everywhere, always, at all times. Prayer is fellowship with God. We are to pray with all our heart. (Jer. 29:13) We are to seek God early. (Ps. 63:1; Prov. 8:17) We are to have a spirit of prayer continually. (I Thess. 5:17) We are to pray in our prayer language (tongues). (I Cor. 14:4 & 15; II Tim. 1:6) Example of prayer in South Korea The mass prayer meetings and personal prayers saved them from Communism and brought about a great revival in that Country where 40% are Christians. (The military is 50% Christian.) There are now about 1200 Prayer Mountains in that Country and most churches have daily prayer meetings at 5 a.m. Many churches have all night prayer meetings on Fridays with a total attendance in all the churches of 250,000. As a result of this great prayer emphasis, the largest churches in the world are in South Korea Full Gospel, Methodist, Baptist and Presbyterian. As a Pastor, my personal prayers were for wisdom, love and power, and in that order. The Holy Spirit gave me instruction as follows: (1) Run this race with perseverance. (Heb. 12:1) (2) Fear God and shun evil. (Prov. 3:8) (3) Cry out to God day and night for victory over the enemy. (Luke 18:7) P.O.
