2 Sacrament of Confirmation Confirmation practice is this weekend on Sunday, June 3rd after 11am Mass. Confirmation will be held on Friday, June 8th at 6pm with Bishop Walsh! The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin for "Body of Christ") is the Roman Rite liturgical solemnity celebrating the real presence of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in the Eucharist known as transubstantiation. Two months earlier, the Eucharist is observed on Holy Thursday in a somber atmosphere leading to Good Friday. Corpus Christi emphasizes the joy of the Eucharist being the body and blood of Jesus Christ. All are welcome to attend and please continue to pray for our candidates! Ever since the first Collection in 1884, the Commission has administered the yearly, national Black and Indian Mission Collection. The generosity of the good People of God allows the Commission to give helpful grants to dioceses across the country to operate schools, parishes, and other missionary services that build the Body of Christ in Native American, Alaska Native, and Black Catholic communities. They meet every Tuesday in our Parish Hall to knit and quilt mittens, hats, shawls, lap quilts and walker pockets. for the sick. Well done ladies! Join us this weekend, on Sunday, June 3rd after the 11am Mass, for the Exposition and Procession of the Blessed Sacrament. Please give generously to this weekend s second collection. Congratulations to our PINS & NEEDLES! They received the Power of Community Service Award on May 15, 2018 for helping to improve the care of patients by providing hand crafted gifts of comfort! Monetary donations are needed throughout the year for rolls of batting. A collection jar will be in our front entrance foyer so please consider making a donation so they can continue their good works...even a dollar or two will go a long way to help those in need of some comfort! PRECIOUS BLOOD On this solemnity we focus our attention on the Body and Blood of Christ. We listen to the story of the renewal of the old covenant, which Moses sealed by splashing the blood of animals on the altar of sacrifice, as well as on the people. Jesus, whose blood is the blood of the new covenant, shed that precious blood on the cross, saving us from sin and promising us everlasting life. Blood is the life source that courses through our bodies. The precious blood of Christ is the life source for our spirits. Today may we, like the psalmist, offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord, whose Body and Blood strengthen us to bring the Good News to everyone we meet.
