We stand to pray. Prayers for Christmas Eve Intercessor Intercessor Intercessor Intercessor Wondrous God, we come to you with hearts and voices lifted up in praise for the gift of Love you have given us in Jesus Christ our Lord. Thank you for coming to live with us as one of us. In the baby in the manager we see someone who looks like us, and yet is filled with heavenly grace and the power to save the world. Thank you God for everything! Prince of Peace, you came to bring peace to the world. We ask you to bring peace to our lives: our families, our friendships, our schools, our churches, our neighborhoods, and all the places we live, work, learn, and play. Thank you God for everything! Blessed Jesus, you are the great healer. In your light we see light. Please bless and heal all those who are suffering, are grieving, are sick, are hungry, are homeless, and those who are in prison. Teach us to bring your hope to the hopeless. Thank you God for everything! Creator God, we give you thanks for this beautiful world in which we live. A world of snowmen and sledding, a world of playgrounds and gardens, a world filled with your dogs, cats, and all sorts of delightful creatures. Remind us that in caring for the earth and her creatures, we are reflecting the light of your love. 5
Intercessor Creator God, we give you thanks for this beautiful world in which we live. A world of snowmen and sledding, a world of playgrounds and gardens, a world filled with your dogs, cats, and all sorts of delightful creatures. Remind us that in caring for the earth and her creatures, we are reflecting the light of your love. Thank you God for everything! Almighty Father, on this holy night, hear our prayers and strengthen us to do your will. Grant us the enthusiasm, joy, and wonder of the children around the world who gather each year at the cradle of your Son. We ask all of this in your most Holy Name and through the power of your Spirit. Amen. We remain standing for the pronouncement of the Peace The Peace The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you. Then we greet one another saying, Peace be with you. 6
The Holy Communion The Offertory Walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:2) Offertory Hymn # 128 We Three Kings Children s Choir and Soloists Refrain Ava Stubblefield and Quinn McLane Verse 1, Children s Choir Verse 2, Rowan Frontjes Verse 3, Oscar Frontjes Verse 4, Ellison McLane Verse 5, Luke Stubblefield We stand to pray. The Holy Communion The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give Him thanks and praise. 7
Thank you, Father, for making us and our wonderful world. Wherever we are in your world, we should always thank you, through Jesus, your Son. Jesus lived as one of us; Jesus died on the cross for us; Jesus is alive because you gave him life again; Jesus is with us now. So, with the angels and everyone in heaven, we say together: In Unison Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Great and wonderful Father, we remember when Jesus had supper with his friends the night before he died, he took the bread; he thanked you, broke it, gave it to his friends and said: Take this and eat it this is my body, given for you. Do this to remember me. After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine; he thanked you, gave it to his friends and said: All of you drink from this cup, because this is my blood - the new promise of God s love. Do this every time you drink it to remember me. Together we remember that Jesus is always with us and say: In Unison Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come in glory. 8
So loving Father, remembering how dearly Jesus loves us, we should love him too. Send your Holy Spirit, gentle as a dove, on us and on these gifts, so that, with everyone who eats and drinks this bread and wine, the body and blood of Jesus, we may be full of your life and goodness. Help us all to walk hand in hand with Jesus and live our lives for him. All honor and glory belong to you, Father, through Jesus, your Son, with the Holy Spirit: one God, for ever and ever. Amen. In Unison Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Breaking of the Bread We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body for we all share in one bread. The Gifts of God for the of God. Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving. The Episcopal Church invites all baptized Christians to the Lord s Table. The host is placed in your open hands; please assist in guiding the chalice to your lips, or dip the host in the wine. We have gluten free hosts available. It is acceptable to receive only the bread or the wine. 9
Communion Hymn # 109 The First Nowell Congregation 10
When all have received Communion, the leads the following prayer: Let us pray. In Unison Eternal God, comfort of the afflicted and healer of the broken, you have fed us at the table of life and hope: teach us the ways of gentleness and peace, that all the world may acknowledge the kingdom of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. At the end, hand candles are lit and everyone stays seated to sing, with candles (Tip the unlit candle to light it from a lit candle) Hymn # 111 Silent Night Soloists: Verse 1 Ellison McLane Verse 2 Sam McDonald Verse 3 Luke Stubblefield Congregation joins to repeat Verse 1 11
We stand to receive the Blessing The Christmas Blessing May Almighty God, who sent his Son to take our nature upon him, bless you in this holy season, scatter the darkness of sin, and brighten your heart with the light of his holiness. Amen. May God, who sent his angels to proclaim the glad news of the Savior s birth, fill you with joy, and make you heralds of the Gospel. Amen. May God, who in the Word made flesh joined heaven to earth and earth to heaven, give you his peace and favor. Amen. And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you for ever. Amen. 12
