2 A Note from our Pastor, Fr. Alex +Thanks be to God! Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Last week, Holy Week, was the most joyous and inspiring week of the year for me in so many ways. Needless to say that it was the well prepared liturgies of the Holy Week, especially the Holy Triduum, that helped me to truly experience the Paschal Mysteries of the Lord I cannot forget how the recipients of baptism on Holy Saturday and people in the pews all became one in exultation when the newly installed cameras captured those precious moments on the screens. I must say that the cameras and slides blended together so beautifully to enhance our experiences of the liturgies last week and some of the highlights were the Washing of the Feet on Holy Thursday, the Adoration of the Holy Cross on Good Friday, and Baptisms on Holy Saturday. The cameras helped people in all parts of the church to actively participate in these moments because they could see them so clearly even from the vestibule. None of these happened on their own but so many dedicated parishioners and staff worked over time to bring the most beautiful liturgies to our parishioners. On Easter Sunday, when a huge number of CEOs (Christmas and Easter Only) Catholics came to Mass, I could see their participation and engagement enhanced through multi-media, inspiring music and welcoming spirit of our community! Thank you to all who contributed to the celebration of our Holy Week! May the Risen Lord continue to bless you with His peace and joy! Let us continue to celebrate our Easter with a great enthusiasm and share this joy with others. Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. In 2000, St. Pope John Paul II instituted Divine Mercy Sunday to be observed on the 2 nd Sunday of Easter. It is based on visions recorded by St. Faustina Kowalski in Poland. The central message for this devotion is that the merciful love of God lies behind the whole Paschal Mystery the whole mystery of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ made present for us in the Eucharist. God s saving action demonstrates his merciful love toward his people. On this Divine Mercy Sunday, to commemorate the Jubilee Year of Mercy declared by Pope Francis, the St. John Neumann community is dedicating the Shrine of Divine Mercy in the Eucharistic chapel. May this shrine and the 10 foot painting of Divine Mercy inspire us to show our gratitude to our heavenly Father for his mercy and unconditional love and inspire us to be ambassadors of his Divine Mercy to the world, which remains in dire need of God s Divine Mercy. At weddings, at tax collectors homes, at Pharisees homes Jesus loved being with people. At the wedding reception in Cana, He even made more wine so the party wouldn t break up.

Why does He like parties so much? Because He finds joy in people gathering together in celebration. He loves it when we are having fun. Especially when we re gathered in His name and having fun.

And, if the kingdom of heaven is among us in Jesus (Lk 17:21), then doesn t it make sense that a bit of our Christian lives here today should be participating in celebration? I think Jesus thinks so.

Seriously consider reserving a table. 5 couples of friends is always a great time! Most of us have 4 other couples who we like to party with and not all of them are Catholic. Invite them.
