3 Introduction In this worship guide you will find a number of different services you could use throughout the 24 hours of the Diocesan Day of Prayer. Beginning with midday Communion on Friday 17 November and ending with the programme for the event in Faversham on Saturday 18 November, this selection is designed for you to use in whatever way suits your plans for the day. If you re praying on your own you can still use these - why not read the plain text in your head and the bold bits out loud? If you are organising a satellite event and would like to have a version you can edit please contact Holly dams on hadams@diocant.org. 5 O eternal Light, who through the working of the Holy Spirit received from the Virgin our human nature: renew us in your love. O crucified Redeemer, by the eternal Spirit you offered yourself to the Father for us: renew us in your love. You breathed on the apostles the Spirit of your love, that sinners might come to know the mercy of God: renew us in your love. Through the power of the Holy Spirit you wash away our sins in the waters of baptism and open our hearts to the guiding hand of the Father: renew us in your love. Time of silent prayer in preparation for confession. Jesus says, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand. So let us turn away from sin and turn to Christ, confessing our sins in penitence and faith. The kingdom is yours, but we turn away from your just rule: Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. CHNGED LIVES chnging LIVES 5 DIOCESN

When we turned away you did not reject us, but came to meet us in your Son. You embraced us as your children and welcomed us to sit and eat with you. CHNGED LIVES chnging LIVES 8 DIOCESN

9 In Christ you shared our life that we might live in him and he in us. He opened his arms of love upon the cross and made for all the perfect sacrifice for sin. On the night he was betrayed, at supper with his friends he took bread, and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to them, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. Father, we do this in remembrance of him: his body is the bread of life. t the end of supper, taking the cup of wine, he gave you thanks, and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins; do this in remembrance of me.
