MASS FOR DECEASED THANK YOU Our sincere thanks to the many parishioners and volunteers, and especially the Bereavement Committee, who helped make the Mass for Deceased special for those who are grieving over the loss of a loved one. While we mourn the death of those we love, we celebrate the hope we have for them in Jesus. PARKING NOTICE Let us be good neighbors. We have been getting calls from neighbors because cars are being parked by parishioners attending Mass on Mayflower and Ridge Streets on the sidewalks/lawns. Please be mindful of this and do not park on sidewalks and lawns. We have an adequate parking lot which should be used. Thank you for your consideration. NEXT WEEKEND IS OSR COMMITMENT WEEKEND! DECEMBER 3RD AND 4TH All registered families have been mailed a letter from Father Savage along with an OSR Commitment Card. Additional brochures and envelopes are available in the church. If you will be out of town or unable to attend Mass on Commitment Weekend, please mail the card to the parish office, place it in the OSR Box, or fill one out online at and click the Online Giving tab on the following weekend. Our Parish Community is a reflection of each of its members. Our generosity determines what this community can do for others. A small sacrifice makes a big difference. MSGR. McGANN Msgr. McGann had a fall about a week ago as he was preparing for Mass. He broke his right wrist and had several facial bruises and damage to some teeth. 3 St. Eulalia Parish Proudly Presents our 19th annual presentation of WELCOME THE CHILD on Sunday December 18th at 7:30pm...a multi-media dramatization (based on actual biblical scripture) of our Lord s Birth (from the time the Angel Gabriel greets Mary to the time the wise men greet our new born King). For the past 18 years, we ve been blessed to perform this wonderful production with a real baby! If you have or know of a new precious bundle (or one that s about to join the world), please consider starting their acting careers with this performance! Mark your calendars now Rehearsals will be Sunday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:15pm (after 5:00pm Mass) on Nov 27 (part assignments), Dec 4, and Dec 11 plus a full dress-rehearsal with music, staging, and spotlights on Friday (Dec 16). Pizza dinners will be available at rehearsals for participants at 6:15pm in the Youth Center! The Giving Tree is standing at the back of the church, laden with circles describing gifts for less fortunate children and adults in the inner city and locally. The procedure is: 1. Choose a circle from the tree. 2. Purchase the gift, or something similar. 3. Wrap the gift and attach the circle securely to the package for sorting purposes. 4. Place the gift beneath the tree by December 11 as the sorting is being done on December 14th. The recipients of these gifts often send notes of appreciation for your kindness and generosity as they struggle with their difficult lives. Thank you for caring and sharing!! ADVENT SUPPLIES Available in the foyer this weekend are candles, brass rings and wreaths for Advent which begins this weekend, November Proceeds will once again go to St. Francis House. SAVE THE DATE! December 18 at 2pm is the annual Christmas concert with the children and adult choirs. Anyone wishing to sing with the choir should contact Deborah Moscoso at Rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings. DAY OF ADORATION This month s Day of Adoration is on Thursday, December 1st. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament begins at the conclusion of the 9 AM Mass and continues throughout the day until 4:30 PM when evening prayer and benediction will be offered. In order to ensure that there is always at least one person present before the Blessed Sacrament, please sign up for a period of adoration. The sign-up sheet is next to the book of prayer intentions near the Holy Family statue. Thank you for participating in this beautiful prayer of adoration. CRADLES TO CRAYONS THANK YOU Thank you all for your support in making our Cradles to Crayons collection and sorting event a success. We are blessed to be a part of such a generous and thoughtful parish. Thank you to St. Eulalia for hosting this event in Manion Hall and having the collection unit in the parking lot. It is wonderful to have the space for the many families who came together to sort and organize all of the donated items. With the donations collected and the many people sorting and cleaning them, we were able to help 507 kids in need. Many of these kids are in homeless situations, all of them lowincome and greatly in need of the generously donated clothes, shoes, books and toys to help them thrive. Dear Friends, THANK YOU My sincerest thanks to each of you for all your prayers as I went through my cornea transplant which was a complete success. NICHOLAS PARTY On Sunday, December 11th, we invite you to the kindergarten and first grade Christmas play and the St. Nicholas party. The festivities will begin at 10:15 in Manion Hall with carols, the arrival of St. Nicholas and the plan. Following St. Nicholas presentation, there will be cookies and juice for all. 4 MEN S FELLOWSHIP GROUP Our regular meeting will be held in McGann Conference Room on Tuesday, November 29th at 7:00pm. All men of the parish are welcome for an evening of fellowship. ST. MATTHEW FOOD PANTRY UPDATE To all our volunteers, a special thanks for all you do. What a great ministry this is to help all in need 52 Saturdays a year. Crunch time seems especially hard for many people around the Holidays. On Saturday, the 19th, we had over 100 clients show up at the Pantry. It was organized chaos. All volunteers did a tremendous job in handling the flow. Many kudos to you all. We gave out lots of food and by the end of the day were pretty much wiped clean. In addition, we handed out over $2000 in gift cards. Many thanks to all the parishioners at St. Eulalia Parish for their generosity in making this possible. The gift cards are important as they allow the clients to buy their own turkey as we really don't have the storage space to hold them. Again, thanks for all your gifts that each of you bring to the Pantry Ministry all year long. 5 COPING THROUGH THE HOLIDAY SEASON WORKSHOP DeVito Funeral Homes and All Care Hospice invite you to "Coping Through The Holiday Season". This free one time workshop is for any adult looking for support this holiday season. This workshop is designed to provide support, connection with others and education on how to survive and thrive during the holiday season. It will be held on Monday December 5th from 6-8 pm in the Conference Room of the Robbins Library, Arlington. RSVP is required by November 30th to Liz Mearkle-Cumming, Bereavement Coordinator at (781) CALLING ALL KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS A PROJECT TO HELP OUR RETIRED PRIESTS St Eulalia Parish s Prayer Shawl Ministry is seeking your help. We would like to provide, for Christmas, a prayer shawl or lap robe to each of the 56 retired priests at Regina Cleri Residence. The group meets in the first floor conference room at the parish office the first Tuesday of the month following the 9:00AM Mass. Our next meeting is December 6th. All are welcome. Many hands can help us accomplish our goal of thanking the priests who have dedicated their lives to us. THE UNBROKEN WORD This last week of Faith Formation the 10 th grade students watched a short documentary movie about DNA and national identity. The video showed several young people who were asked about their background and how they feel about their identity. Many of those interviewed made strong statements about where they came from, and more specifically, where they didn t hail from. A lot of prejudice was evident in their comments. As the video progressed, they all agreed to provide a DNA sample and return a few weeks later to collect the results and be filmed again. The results were stunning. One guy who earlier confirmed he was an ancient Norseman found himself from many parts of Europe, there were Arabs with Jewish ancestry and then the greatest surprise. A young woman found an actual cousin in the group! To a person, they all celebrated these revelations. For me, it s interesting to see that we often view our roots based on what we have heard, stories, even legend. The truth is we are a lot more connected to each other than just some romantic tribal connection. Of course, nowhere is that truth more connected than in the Church. We are the Body of Christ. We are the arms, legs, voice and conscience of Jesus to be used as His instrument to bring others to Him. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to see that reflected across the country, as we savor gratitude, not just for a few days; but in a gratitude which lasts. Roots We have yarn available, and we would also welcome donations of yarn. Three to four skeins would make one shawl. Colors suitable for men would be most appreciated. We are looking forward to having you join us!! ST. FRANCIS RETREAT GUILD BREAKFAST The Annual Communion Commemoration of the Woburn Saint Francis Retreat Guild will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016 with the Sacrifice of the Mass celebrated at 8 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Following Mass, breakfast will be served at the St. Charles Parish Center. The meal will be catered again by the reputable Imperial Companies, Inc Eileen Caulfield, proprietor, who has provided the breakfast for the Guild on previous occasions. The cost per person for the breakfast will be the same as last year $20 per person. A brief business meeting will be conducted including election of officers for the following year(s). The Retreat dates for the up-coming year will be March 24-26, Details of the retreat may be addressed at the business meeting.
