Classes are held on the 2 nd & 3 rd Tuesday of each month. Please come by the Parish Office to register or call for more information. Reconciliation The Sacrament of Penance is offered on Saturdays, from 4:30p.m. to 5:30p.m. or by appointment. Sacrament of Marriage Please contact the Parish Office at least (6) six months prior to your desired wedding date to arrange a meeting with Father Tony or one of the Deacons. If you want a Mass, you must call Father Tony. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Are you a non-catholic who is interested in joining the Catholic faith? Are you a baptized Catholic who has never received the sacraments of 1 st Communion and Confirmation? If your answer is yes to either of these questions, call the Parish Office. Sacrament of First Communion First Communion candidates must be baptized, at least in the second grade, and have been attending CCE classes for two full years previous to their receiving the Sacrament. Adults needing First Communion should refer to the rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Sacrament of Confirmation Confirmation candidates must have previously received the Sacraments of Baptism and First Communion. They must have faithfully attended Life Teen for at least one full year prior to beginning preparation for the Sacrament (more than three absences without a valid excuse can alter the process). A signed form stating that the parent/guardian and the candidate understand all requirements is also necessary before the preparation begins. Adults needing confirmation should refer to the Rite of Christian initiation of adults. 3 Dear parish family, ALL SAINTS DAY We do celebrate All Saints Day because according to St. Paul s Letter to the Hebrews, we are a family. (Hebrew 3:6). Or, in the words of Vatican II, we are one family in Christ. (Lumen Gentium 51) and, as members of the same family, we can receive lots of help from other members of our family who, according to the 2nd Vatican Council, are more closely united with Christ. All Saints day originated to honor the early Christian martyrs who died for the faith and eventually extending to honor all the unknown/un named heroes of faith. Hence All Saints to honor all those who lived heroic Christian lives, both those officially recognized as saints by the Church and all the unknowns, the unrecognized, the myriad of all our faithful departed who are now certainly in the glory with God in heaven (Rev. 7:2-4,9-14). And that means also our deceased loved ones: our grandparents, our parents, our uncles and aunts, our neighbors, our friends, and so forth So this feast day, not only reminds us of the great saints of the church, but also about the good people who did nothing to become famous, but who knew how to love; who accepted death day by day by taking their ordinary task in an ordinary life; and so, lived life with extraordinary beauty. We can relate to them as we journey on towards our final destiny, which is life with God in heaven. And thus the honor and remembrance of all saints has a flipside celebration, All Souls Day. It is our remembrance of the faithful departed whose faith and final redemption are known only to God and whose glory in heaven still awaits them. All Souls Day therefore offers us the grace-filled consolation of remembering and praying for all the dead, especially those we knew best, in all their humanness, with their faults and flaws, their struggles and sorrows, and their imperfections. While knowing that their purification was not completed here on earth, we are guaranteed that it goes on in Purgatory preparing them for entering the promised heavenly inheritance. We are in communion with them in their path of purification by our prayers. Hence today and throughout November, we dedicate Masses and prayers for them. May our prayers for our deceased loved ones lift them up to heaven, and may those already in heaven pray for us that one day we may embody the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) here on earth and come to be counted among them who now enjoy God s presence in heaven. Tony Todos los Santos Nosotros celebramos el Día de Todos los Santos porque de acuerdo a la carta de St. Paul a los Hebreos, "somos una familia." (Hebreos 3: 6). O, en las palabras del Concilio Vaticano II, que somos "una sola familia en Cristo." (Lumen Gentium 51)... y, como miembros de una misma familia, podemos recibir mucha ayuda de otros miembros de nuestra familia que, de acuerdo con el segundo Concilio Vaticano II, son "más estrechamente unidos a Cristo." Todos los Santos se originó en honor a los primeros mártires cristianos que murieron por la fe y, también se extienden en honor a todos los desconocidos / héroes sin nombre de la fe. Por los tanto "El día de todos los Santos" es para honrar a todos los que vivían vidas cristianas heroicas, tanto los oficialmente reconocidos como santos por la Iglesia y todos los no reconocidos, la gran cantidad de todos nuestros fieles difuntos que se encuentran ahora sin duda en la gloria con Dios en el cielo (Apocalipsis 7: 2-4,9-14). Y eso significa que también nuestros seres queridos fallecidos: nuestros abuelos, nuestros padres, nuestros tíos y tías, nuestros vecinos, nuestros amigos, y así sucesivamente... Así que este día de fiesta, no sólo nos recuerda a los grandes santos de la iglesia, sino también acerca de las buenas personas que no hicieron nada por buscar su propia gloria, pero que sabían cómo amar; que aceptaron la muerte día a día mediante la adaptación de su "tarea ordinaria en una vida ordinaria", y así, vivieron la vida con una belleza extraordinaria. Podemos relacionarnos con ellos en nuestra jornada que nos dirige a nuestro destino final, que es la vida con Dios en el cielo. Y así el honor y recuerdo de "todos los santos" tenemos una celebración simultánea, Día de los Difuntos. Es nuestro recuerdo de los fieles difuntos, cuya fe y redención final son conocidas sólo por Dios y su gloria en el cielo todavía les espera. Día de los Difuntos, por tanto, nos ofrece el consuelo lleno de gracia de recordar y orar por todos los muertos, especialmente aquellos que conocíamos, en toda su humanidad, con sus fallas y defectos, sus luchas y dolores, y sus imperfecciones. Aunque sabiendo que su purificación no se completó aquí en la tierra, se nos garantiza que pasan en el Purgatorio propendeos para entrar en la herencia celestial prometida. Estamos en comunión con ellos en su camino de purificación por nuestras oraciones. De ahí que hoy y a lo largo de noviembre, se dedican misas y oraciones por ellos. Que nuestras oraciones por nuestros seres queridos fallecidos sean elevadas al cielo, y aquellos que ya estén en el cielo rueguen por nosotros que un día podamos encarnar las Bienaventuranzas (Mateo 5: 1-12) aquí en la tierra y llegar a ser contados entre los que ahora disfrutan de la presencia de Dios en el cielo. Over the next several weeks CCE will be collecting the following items: Granola bars Peanut butter or cheese crackers Fruit snacks Chewing gum Peppermint breath mints Travel size hand lotion Individual tissue packs Snack size candy bars Canned goods Everything collected with the exception of the canned goods will be made into care packages and distributed in local hospital waiting rooms. The canned goods will be distributed to the families the parish adopts for the Christmas Giving Tree. We will also be accepting donations (Until Nov. 8th) in the office during regular business hours. In the Gospel today, Jesus tells us: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength...and you shall love your neighbor as yourself. 7 Mass 4PM Parental Notice This week at Life Night, we discussed the sacraments and angels as our spiritual protection against evil. Teenagers were challenged to reflect on how well they are fortifying their faith with the sacraments, especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation, as well as prayer. They learned about angels as our protectors, particular St. Michael. At the end of the Life Night, we renewed our Baptismal Promises and gave each teen a prayer card with the St. Michael prayer on it. Take a few minutes to discuss this Life Night with our son or daughter. The following questions provide an excellent starting point for your discussion: Share with your teen about their baptism.
