Kirbas Dear Congregation, Today is an important day in the life of our two campus church. It is the day that we ordain and install our new church officers. Elders and Deacons serve alongside pastors in the total ministry of our church. According to the Bible, the church is instructed to lay our hands on them and invite God s spirit to rest upon them as they begin their ordained service. The season of Lent is moving quickly, and next Sunday we will arrive at Holy Week. Holy Week will begin with our Palm Sunday Celebration, in which we will gather all three of our services into one combined service at 10:30 AM in the sanctuary of the Central Campus. Weather permitting, we invite everyone to gather in the Manor Lawn at 10:15 as we prepare for our palm processional. Later that day, our Music Department will offer A Marge Duncan Memorial Concert event entitled Appassionata. Our choir will be joined by choirs from Rose State College, Randall University, and Central Presbyterian Church. This special musical event will begin at 4 PM. Please help us spread the word! On Thursday, April 18th, we will offer a Maundy Thursday Communion Service in the Central Campus Sanctuary at 7 PM. Following the example of the evening in which Jesus shared the last supper with his twelve disciples, we will gather in small groups of twelve around the communion tables to receive communion in a small group atmosphere. On Friday, April 19th, we will offer our Good Friday experiential worship program at the North Campus, beginning at 7 PM. This service will lead us on a journey through stations, starting in the garden courtyard in the back property of the North Campus building. With the use of art, liturgy, and music, we will experience a creative and artistic Good Friday journey. It is one of the most unique services we have planned. All of this leads to Easter Sunday, April 21. On this day, we will offer a sunrise service at our North Campus at 6:30 AM. Two identical Easter Celebration services will be provided at the Central Campus sanctuary, at 9 AM and 11 AM. Each of these Central Campus services will be preceded by a 30-minute prelude offered by our musicians. Holy Week promises to be unforgettable here at Westminster! But now, let us continue our Lenten journey, as we follow this person Jesus, the Son of God, and the Son of Man! In God s Grace, Dr. Paul Kirbas, Pastor / Head of Staff Important Announcement Receiving The Sacrament Of Baptism William David Coffey, son of Lauren and David Coffey. One Service On Palm Sunday / April 14 There will only be one service on Palm Sunday in the Central Campus Sanctuary at 10:30 AM. Young Organists Recital / TODAY / 3 PM / Central Campus Westminster Presbyterian is honored to host Oklahoma City Chapter AGO's Second Annual "Young Organist Recital. This special event will be TODAY at 3 PM. This recital will feature Westminster's very own, Grace Jackson. Grace serves Westminster as our Organ Scholar. I wandered down each path He knew with reverent step and slow. Those little lanes, they have not changed, a sweet peace fills the air. I walked today where Jesus walked, and felt His presence there. My pathway led through Bethlehem. Ah, memories, ever sweet! The little hills of Galilee, that knew those childish feet. The Mount of Olives, hallowed scenes, that Jesus knew before I saw the mighty Jordan roll, as in the days of yore. I knelt today where Jesus knelt, where all alone he prayed. The Garden of Gethsemane, my heart felt unafraid. I picked my heavy burden up, and with Him at my side, I climbed the Hill of Calvary, where on the Cross He died! I walked today where Jesus walked, and felt Him close to me.
