4 Our Lady of Fatima February 5, 2017 Page Four LENTEN BOOK STUDY This Lent you re invited to friendship with the saints and other holy people through the words of a most extraordinary Jesuit priest, Fr. James Martin. Come join our adult book/video study of My Life with the Saints, featuring a dozen men and women who have changed the life of the author and will inspire you as well. In this award winning book, Fr. Martin chronicles his lifelong friendships with St. Francis, Thomas Merton, St. Therese of Lisieux, Dorothy Day, St. Peter, St. Joan of Arc, and more! Filled with fascinating tales, Fr. Martin s funny, vibrant, and stirring book invites readers to discover how saints guide us throughout our earthly journeys and how they help each of us find holiness in our own lives. Participants on this Lenten journey can choose from Wednesday evenings (7:00 8:30) in room 7 of the school or Thursday mornings (9:30 11:00) in the New Hall. There will be seven sessions in all, beginning March 1 st, 2 nd. To sign up for this insightful and FREE (besides the cost of the book) opportunity, call Joyce Teixeira in the parish office, THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE As children we sang the lively song This Little Light of Mine. The words, of course, are based on today s Gospel, in which we are called as disciples to be salt and light for the world. Children are uninhibited about sharing their faith. It s only when we grow older that we prefer to hide our light under a bushel basket because our culture tends not to emphasize discipleship. The message in this week s readings is clear: in order to give glory to God through our discipleship, we must show the light of Christ in our words and deeds. Not an easy thing for inhibited adults. Often we may think of salt and light in terms of what we do for others, but it can be just as important not to do something, such as getting angry with the stranger on the road, or telling an offensive joke. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRY CORNER For every minute in 2015, 24 people were forced to flee their home country due to war and persecution. Of that number 51% were children. Catholic Relief Services helps refugees throughout the world by providing food, clothing, shelter, education, and trauma counseling. Visit to see how you can help. "Whoever receives one child, such as this in my name, receives me: and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me." Derechos de autor 2013, World Library Publications. Todos los derechos reservados. MI PEQUEÑA LUZ Cuando éramos niños cantábamos efusivamente la canción Mi pequeña luz (This Little Light of Mine).
