The Sylvania Franciscan Village, Perrysburg St. Rose Peace and Justice Committee and Association U.S. Catholic Priests Toledo Chapter Social Justice Subcommittee are cosponsoring A Response to the Vatican Summit on Clergy Sex Abuse: Searching for More Radical Solutions, a special lecture by Father Jim Bacik on Sunday, March 31 at 3 p.m. in the Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd., in Sylvania. Tickets: $10 reserved; $15 at the door. The first 200 people to reserve tickets for the lecture will receive a free copy Fr. Bacik's newest book: Enduring Wisdom for Today's Spiritual Seekers (Limit one free book per household). Preregistration is $12 for students and $15 for adults. We are looking for half gallon milk jugs for this year s event. Any whole gallons will also be gladly accepted, but we are making a push to collect more half gallons to better accommodate the abilities all participants. Jugs can be dropped f in the Newman Rooms. 3 Christian Appalachian Project Workfest (March 38,2019) On behalf the ten CCUP/UT students (Catherine Burke, Jennifer Greco, Grady Hedrick, Alex Martin, Kayla Miller, Josue Quinones, Britney Siefring, Alexis Smith, Rose Soriano, & Quinn Wise) and the five adults (Doug Bargiel, Keith Martin, Kim Stechschulte, Ted Stechschulte, & Fr. Dan Zak) who participated in the alternate spring break CAP Workfest experience in Martin County, Kentucky, we extend a big THANK YOU to the parish for the tithes ($721.36), and to all those who sponsored students for this wonderful experience service and community. What a great example good stewardship time, talent, and treasure doing home repair with the poor Appalachia. If you are interested in going in the future, please contact Fr. NOSF has been awarding needbased scholarships for 20 years to students in grades K8 to attend a private school or be homeschooled in Northwest Ohio. 6 Catholic Student Association Event Calendar Feel At home The Catholic presence at the University Toledo University Toledo UNDERGRADUATE Catholic Student Association (CSA) and GRADUATE STUDENT Newman Club: Did you know that if you are a Catholic at the University Toledo, you are automatically a member CSA or the Newman Club? The Catholic Student Association is one the largest coed organizations on the University Toledo s campus. Associated with Corpus Christi University Parish, it serves as the Catholic student organization on campus, fostering spiritual, social and academic growth. Check online or the weekly bulletin for updates, contact information and pictures. Sunday, March 24th after the 6 p.m. Mass, Graduate Students are welcome to a dinner and discussion with Fr. Jeremy Miller in the Conference Room. ** Watch Songfest with CSA! ** CSA is performing in Songfest Saturday, March 30 in Savage Arena starting at 5 pm. If you would like to watch their performance with the CSA group (and have it count as a Traditional Event), they will meet at CCUP around 4:30 and then walk over to Savage Arena together. But you can still contact Madalyn if you want to meet up with the group once you reach Savage. 7 Scholarships Available for UT Students The deadline for applying is Wednesday, April 17th by 5pm in the Parish Office. Application forms are available on the table in the Gathering Space. o John Henry Newman Scholarship: Applications are available on the table by the exit for any CSA student who wishes to apply for the John Henry Newman Scholarship. Requirements are printed on the application. Two $ scholarships are available. o Roger and Norma Weiher Scholarship: $500 for a UT senior who is a Catholic registered at Corpus Christi and has been accepted for graduate studies in any field. The major criteria are involvement in leadership roles on campus and community service. o Veterinary Scholarship: $ 1,000 for a UT senior registered at Corpus Christi University Parish who is accepted for graduate studies in a veterinary school. For information, please contact Pam Meseroll. o Engineering/ Health Care Science Scholarship: Two $ scholarships are available for a junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor degree in Engineering or in Health Care Sciences. See the application for more information. Three our students were just chosen as new Presidential Ambassadors! Congratulations Branigan, Kevin, and Maggie! They get to join the ranks many other CSA students involved in this prestigious campus group which represents the University and its president throughout campus. There will be an informational meeting on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 7:30 PM in the Church for UT students and recent UT graduates who are interested in a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with Father Jeremy Miller and Father Phil Smith. The pilgrimage will take place May 1727, 2020 and will be specifically designed for university students and recent graduates The University Toledo.
