Nelson The Transfiguration of Our Lord (The Last Sunday after the Epiphany) March 2, :00 p.m. March 3, 2019, 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. OUR MISSION To proclaim the love of Jesus Christ, invite others to participate in our faith community, and be a blessing to all in word and deed. Witnesses to the glory of God in the face of Jesus will be unable to avoid reflecting that glory in the world. It was true for Moses. It was doubtless true for Peter, James, and John. We pray that it will be true of all of us who see the glory of the Lord in the word and in the supper and who are being transformed into the same image by the Spirit of God. 1

Gathered in God s presence, let us open ourselves to the Lord and each other and confess our sins in penitence, faith and hope. Mighty and loving God, C: have mercy on us. We confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We seek our own way. We divide the body of Christ. In your mercy, rain upon our dry and dusty lives. Wash away our sin and heal our wounded spirits. Kindle within us the fire of your love to burn away our apathy. With your warmth bend our rigidity and guide our wandering feet. Angerman Celebration Choir THE LESSON 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:2 In his debates with the Corinthians, Paul contrasts the glory of Moses with the glory of Christ. The Israelites could not see Moses face because of the veil. But in Christ we see the unveiled glory of God and are transformed into Christ s likeness. L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God! ^ ALLELUIA VERSE ^ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE GOSPEL ^READING OF THE GOSPEL Luke 9:28-43 The conversation about Jesus suffering and death is enclosed in a dazzling foreshadowing of the resurrection. 9 CONFESSION OF FAITH We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. Nicene Creed 9 On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. What does the Constitution say about SCOTUS? Pinnacle Peak Road, Peoria, AZ 85383, on Saturday, March 23, 9-11 a.m. and 12-2 p.m. Just a reminder, it involves standing about an hour and 40 minutes. Sun City Posse Open House ~ The Sun City Posse is holding its annual Open House on Sunday, March 3, 2019, from 1-3 p.m. at Posse Headquarters, Sunland Dr. This is an opportunity to tour our facility, learn of changes, view demonstrations of Posse equipment, talk with the MCSO Swat Team, and visit with an MCSO K-9 officer. The Sun City Fire Department will also be on site with equipment and paramedics. All Sun City residents and guests are welcome to this free event.
