Francis DeGroot, pastor of St. Anne Parish in Escanaba has graciously provided a suggested song list for the upcoming liturgical year. There are many good suggestions. As pastors, we have many decisions to make prior to the celebration of the Holy Mass and Fr. Francis has assisted us by providing these song suggestions. It is attached as Addendum #1. MINISTRY PERSONNEL SERVICES Kevin Branson Faith Formation & Youth Ministry SAFE ENVIRONENT-AWARENESS SESSIONS Each vicariate has one remaining VIRTUS Awareness session for employees and volunteers. If you have volunteers or employees who have not yet attended a training session these are the last live sessions until September. Have them attend the one closest to your parish. The schedule is in Addendum #2. SEE THE SEE JR HIGH YOUTH RALLY Only 60 days or 1440 hours until See the See! This event will be held on Saturday, February 8, In the past we have had over 600 youth and chaperones attend. Registration and promotional information is available on the youth ministry webpage of the Diocese of Marquette website. The registration deadline is December 20, If you have trouble downloading or printing any of the information contact Greg Gostomski, Director of Youth Ministry, ggostomski@dioceseofmarquette.org ext. 125 or FACEBOOK PAGE FOR CATECHISTS A Facebook group for faith formation leaders in the diocese has been created. It is a secret group and only those who have been invited may access the page. It is to be utilized as a resource for sharing ideas, lesson plans, success stories and wisdom in parish catechesis. It is not to be used as a forum for venting complaints. Please protect others privacy and do not use names when posting. All faith formation coordinators and catechists are invited to join. If you are not already a member you can join by sending me an requesting to be added to the group. Once you are accepted you will be able to access the page by clicking on the Diocese of Marquette Catechists under the section entitled group on the left sidebar of your home page. Any questions contact Denise Foye dfoye@dioceseofmarquette.org PROVINCIAL WINTER GATHERING The annual state-wide gathering of Parish and Diocesan Catechetical leaders is being held Thursday, January 16 and Friday, January 17 at Bethany House Retreat Center in Dewitt, Michigan (Lansing). This gathering provides a wonderful opportunity for continuing formation and to meet your peers from across the state. If you are interested in attending or have any questions please contact, Denise Foye, dfoye@dioceseofmarquette.org. RITE OF ELECTION Rite of Election will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9 at St. Peter Cathedral. An will be sent to all parishes in January with the registration information. BARRON'S "NEW EVANGELIZATION" DOCUMENTARY DEC. 18 Most Catholics have heard of the New Evangelization, but few actually know what it means, how to do it effectively, or why it s so critical. Get the answers you want and need by watching the premiere of an intelligent and engaging new documentary by Father Robert Barron entitled "Catholicism: The New Evangelization" (not to be confused with Fr. Barron s popular 10-part epic, Catholicism ) at 9:30 p.m. ET, Wednesday, Dec. 18 on EWTN. The program will encore at 1 p.m. ET, Saturday, Dec. 21. (Find EWTN at Travel around the world in 90 minutes, beginning in Melbourne, Australia, and meet many people who are engaging our increasingly secular culture the right way; that is, they are not just making people mad, they are actually changing hearts and minds and making a difference. Learn how they do it and how you can, too! The documentary is preceded by a special EWTN Live with special guest, Fr. Barron. The program airs at 8 p.m. ET, Wednesday, Dec. 18. POPE S CHRISTMAS EVE MIDNIGHT MASS ON TV WLUC-TV6 of Marquette will air the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, which will be presided over by Pope Francis in St. Peter s Basilica, from 11:34 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 24 to 1 a.m. ET on Wed., Dec. 25. EWTN-TV will also air the Solemn Mass of Christmas Eve with the Holy Father at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, with encores on Christmas Day at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. In addition, EWTN will broadcast the Christmas Message and the Urbi et Orbi blessing of Pope Francis from St. Peter s Square on Christmas Day at 6 a.m., with encores on Dec. 25 at 10 p.m., Dec. 27 at 2 p.m., Dec. 28 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 31 at 9:30 p.m. (all times Eastern).
