3 FROM THE CHAPLAIN The overhaul of the historic organ in the Chapel Royal will be completed early this month, and I take this opportunity to thank the team from Harrison & Harrison for the helpful, courteous and considerate way in which they have done their work, always mindful of the worship and running of the Chapel Royal day by day. Our thanks are due, too, to Historic Royal Palaces for their financial and moral support for the restoration of the organ, and to all of you whose generosity to the Choral Foundation has made it possible to have this important work done by the best firm of its kind in England. Later this month the Choir will begin its Summer Recess, and on behalf of you all I thank Carl Jackson, Rufus Frowde, and the Gentlemen and Children of the Chapel Royal for their magnificent music throughout this choral year, and the choristers parents, too, for making their gifted sons available to the Chapel Royal and for supporting them in their service: I wish them all a happy and enjoyable summer. Our thanks go also (since all are essential to the flourishing of this Chapel Royal to the glory of God, in fealty to our Queen, and for our own spiritual wellbeing) to David Wright, the Honorary Clerk of the Chapel; to sacristans, servers and those who assist with the chalice at the Eucharist; to the Sidesmen and Lesson readers; to the voluntary Stewards who present the Chapel Royal and its ministry and history to visitors; to Brian and Marguerite Rollason for their weekly counting of the collections and alms, and to Marguerite and her team of ladies for the refreshments after Sunday services; to Jiří Musil for his work as Treasurer and as redactor of the Monthly Music Programme; to Tatiana Brown for the beautiful flowers which she arranges for the services week by week; to Jacqueline Rayner for printing and distribution of my sermons; to Claire Hill and her ladies for maintenance and cleaning of the Chapel Royal, and to Catherine Fennemore for polishing the plate and silver; to Sophie Jordan for her diligent, intelligent and always cheerful work as administrator of the Chapel Royal; and to the Trustees of the Choral Foundation, and to its Manager Michele Price and her fund-raising team, whose work has not only made possible the fulfilment of Carl s dream of having the organ restored to its historic integrity, but also ensures the continuance of musical excellence in the Chapel Royal for future worshippers and visitors to enjoy in perpetuity. During the Summer Recess the daily celebration of the Eucharist will continue at 8.30 a.m. every day (on Sundays in the Chapel Royal as usual, and on weekdays in The Queen s Holy Day Closet).
