We make peace with God and each other before coming to the Lord s table. The congregation may be seated. Offering Meal We give back to God out of the abundance with which He has blessed us. All Faithful Ones offering received during the month of August will be for Small Needs-Big Change. Small Needs-Big Change is for KOG members and those in the community who ask us for assistance with unexpected, minimal needs. This is usually a $10 to $20 need for someone who needs money for gas or for a family who stops because they are hungry and in need of a meal. Sometimes a small unanticipated bill needs to be paid and there are those living from paycheck to paycheck who need a few dollars to get by. If you wish to offer additional funds for this ministry, please use an envelope which may be found in the Narthex. Checks should be made out to King of Glory with Faithful Ones in the memo. Like a Whispered Breath Michael Shake Like a whispered breath, or a thunder-clap, or the thumping of a drum Come Holy Spirit, come! Wake us to the wonders of our world: starlight, sunlight, ever-changing clouds, sounds of insects, animals and birds, shapes and colors, patterns and designs. Like a whispered breath Join us, making many into one, as a home of safety, joy, and light, so that we can say, in simple truth: "All are welcome, cherished, and beloved. Like a whispered breath Move us as we meet to hear your Word, joining mind and muscle, heart and voice. Set us free to weep and sigh and shout, dancing with our feet or in our hearts. 5 Prayer P Let us pray: God of life, C you give us these gifts of the earth, these resources of our life and our labor. Take them, offered in great thanksgiving, and use them to set a table that will heal the whole creation; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Light. Amen. Great Thanksgiving We prepare our hearts and minds to receive Christ. P It is indeed right, our duty, and our joy we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Sanctus Words of Institution With these words, the pastor consecrates the elements for Holy Communion. 5

6 Lord s Prayer C Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. The congregation may be seated. Agnus Dei Distribution of Communion At King of Glory we welcome all who believe Jesus Christ is present for and with us in the bread and wine. If you would prefer not to receive wine, simply request white grape juice when served. Gluten-free wafers may also be requested. Children and adults not communing are invited to come forward for a word of blessing. Open hands show you wish to receive communion; folded hands show you want a blessing. Prayer after Communion P Let us pray: Holy and compassionate God, in bread and wine you give us gifts that form us to be humble and courageous. May your words come to life in our serving and in our witness, that we might speak a living voice of healing and justice to all the world, through Jesus Christ, our rock and our redeemer. Sending Sending of Communion P O God of tender compassion, as you healed the sick and welcomed the stranger, bless those who leave this assembly to share the gifts of this table with our sisters and brothers who are sick and homebound. May they be sustained by the love and prayers of this community, and by the Bread of life that satisfies all hunger, Jesus Christ our Lord. 6
