We focus on thanking each one who has helped us, and ultimately thank God for the good gifts of this world. Let us pray... God our Father, Graciously accept from your humble people a thankful heart and spirit. Everything we have and are able to share with others ultimately comes from your love of your creations. Often we think that everything we have is our own creation; we ask you this day to create in us a spirit of gratitude, that we may always know that all good gifts come from you. John and Alan have volunteered to gather our junior and senior high students on certain Friday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Duns Scotus room. We will begin again on Friday, November 30, 6:30 pm. It may not happen exactly this way at the beginning, but we hope to meet two Friday evenings a month. The format will be similar to what was done previously: snacks, prayer, discussion, activities. We know that students will enjoy this fun and informative opportunity to gather with their peers. We hope that our parents will be supportive and help get our students to the gatherings. I am most grateful to John and Alan for their generosity and willingness to share their faith in this forum. November is the month in which we pause to give thanks for the many blessings we have received throughout the year. I encourage you to make Thanksgiving more than just a day. Why not begin now to call God s blessings to mind, perhaps choose one thing each day. It could make our celebrating on Thanksgiving day richer and fuller, because we will have prepared well. November is also the month in which we remember our departed loved ones. Perhaps we could bring these two themes together by calling to mind, each day, a loved one who has died and giving thanks for the gift he or she was in your life. John Gagala Call for changes *************************** Remember to pray for the safety of our troops around the world. May they return home soon. We also pray for world leaders to have the wisdom to find peaceful solutions to the Beginning Saturday, December 1, 2018, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. There is no change to the Tuesday 10:30 a.m. starting time. With this change, we will not have to cancel when we have an afternoon wedding or other afternoon event in the church. Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation. Fr. Jeff is looking for three extra ministers on the weekend of November at each Mass. This is the feast of Christ the King and we would like to celebrate the feast with solemnity. One would carry a bowl of incense during the entrance procession. The other two would assist during the presentation of the gifts. They would precede the presentation of gifts of bread and wine and monetary offering carrying the altar cloth and placing it on the altar. It would be necessary to come at least 20 minutes early in order to practice! If you are interested, please volunteer to Fr. Jeff. PLEASE NOTE: Each first Friday morning of the month, the friars bring communion to the sick or homebound of the parish. If you or a loved one would like a brief visit and communion from one of the friars, please let us know, and we will be happy to stop by. We know that some parishioners are able to receive communion through the generosity of family or friends on Sundays or during the week, but we are still willing to come on the first Friday morning as well. Please call the office and leave your contact information. We usually call the day before to let you now an approximate time we will arrive.

4 Page 4 Church of the Transfiguration, Southfield Prayer List Practice: Beginning with the New Year, January, If you wish your name or the name of your loved one to remain on the list, please call the office by December 14 and make that request. We are more than happy to put the name on the prayer list. 2. If we do not hear anything by December 14, the name will be re-moved from the list. 3. Names will remain on the list for 2 months. If you wish your name or the name of a loved one to remain on the list, simply call the office and request it for another 2 months. We will be more than happy to do this. 4. Please limit the names you submit to just a few and to members of your family. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up for the UTG Challenge. We have over 50,000 participants from across the Archdiocese (and beyond) doing the challenge. That number continues to climb by the hour as more people join the challenge. We'd love for each and every one of you who took the challenge to find one friend or family member that hasn't taken it yet and help get them signed up. They can text Gospel" to the number or visit UTGChallenge.com to take the Challenge in English or text "Evangelio" to or visit UTGReto.com to take the Challenge in Spanish. Please keep in your prayers those parishes that will be doing the UTG Challenge this weekend. For those parishes that had the UTG Challenge last weekend, we are encouraging the pastors to remind people to sign up, especially for those that may not have been present last weekend. The UTG Challenge will be available through the end of the year so people can sign up at any time. An Invitation to Religious Transfiguration Parish would like to celebrate, honor, and appreciate all the members of religious communities who worship here. Thank you for your commitment and service! We will use the weekend of the collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious (December 8-9). At each mass, we will acknowledge you and invite you to come forward for a blessing. On Sunday morning, December 9, from 9-12, we invite you to breakfast -- on us! Could you please call the office to let us know you will be coming, and what mass you will attend?
