2 Generalate News Fr. Varghese Chakkumkuzhy came back from the De Paul Institute, Bangalore after giving classes. Fr. Mathew Vattakuzhy will come back to Generalate on December 15, 2016 after his visit in our North-East Mission. MAASADHYANA CHINTHAKAL 2017 is published. Copies are available from the Generalate. Cancer Diagnosing Programme There was a Cancer Diagnosing programme Karuthal arranged under the leadership of SSSMILE Fellowship, Edappally on 10 th December The programme started at 9:30 am. Rev. Fr. Varghese Parappuram gave a brief message and inaugurated the programme. There was a team of ten staff members from the General Hospital, Ernakulam came for conducting the camp. Around 132 people came for the camp. By 2:00 pm the camp was concluded. 2

4 Canonical Visits Rev. Fr. Provincial Superior and Fr. Johnson Karingen made the Canonical Visit of Vincentian Ashram, Tissa on 9 & 10, December, 2016; The Canonical Visit of Vincentian Ashram, Margherita was on 12 & 13, December, Defence of the Doctoral Dissertation Fr. Pallippadan Rocky VC completed his Defence of Doctoral Dissertation on 9 th December, 2016 at JDV Pontifical Institute, Pune. Congratulations dear Fr. Rocky. Visits Frs. Pothalil Mathew VC, Orikalayil Joseph VC and Thonakkara Joseph VC visited the Provincial House in these days. Thank you dear Fathers. News from Marymatha Provincial House, Angamaly. EXTRAORDIANRY PROVINCIAL SYNAXIS, DECEMBER 12, 2016 The extraordinary Provincial Synaxis of Marymatha Province is progressing. Thirty elected delegates and five ex-officio members spend one day for prayer and meditation as per the directives of the statutes. The Inaugural session was on 13th evening. The main agenda will be the Division of the Province. We request the earnest prayers of the confreres that the Holy Spirit may guide all the Synaxis members to have free deliberations and wise decision according to the will of God. HEALTH CORNER Fr. Sajoy Eathakkattu underwent ayurvedic treatment in Punalur for his showlder pain and is getting better. He came to the Provincial house on 4

5 December 11, Please pray for his complete cure and speedy return to the ministry. News from Divine Prayer Centre, New Jersey. For the first time, by the grace of God, a Prayer-Service in Telugu language was organized at our Divine Prayer Centre, New Jersey, on December 4, Around 50 people & their kids attended the prayer sessions. God willing we hope to arrange the Prayer-service more often. There has been a good response this year for all the regular Retreats conducted every month in Malayalam & English. Almost a hundred people from different States attended the last Live- In- Retreat. And we receive invitations to conduct Retreats in Syro-Malabar & the Latin Parishes. News from Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, Ladrymbai. The concluding celebration of the Year of Mercy in Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, Lad Rymbai The concluding celebration of the Year of Mercy in Divine Mercy Retreat Centre Lad Rymbai (in the Diocese of Jowai) was on 26th of 5

6 November His Excellency, Vicktor Lyngdoh, the new bishop for Jowai diocese was the chief guest of the celebration. It was the first official visit to Divine Mercy Retreat Centre and first official program of the bishop. The celebration started at 09 AM with rosary and adoration. The Parish Priest of Lad Rymabi, Rev.Fr.Stephan, Rev.Fathers, Rev. Sisters, neighbours, invited guests and about 650 people were there to celebrate the concluding ceremony of the year of mercy. During the homily the bishop thanked Marymatha Province and Vincentian Congregation for starting a retreat centre in the diocese of Jowai, in the North East of India, in Meghalaya. The centre is a blessing especially for the non Christians to know Jesus and to grow in faith. The bishop appreciated the Director Fr. Antony Kolenchery and assist. Director Fr.Joyal Edathazhe for their hard work and dedicated service for the diocese of Jowai through the retreat centre. Within a short time the centre has developed and irrespective of cast, creed and religion, so many people were benefited by the divine mercy retreat centre; the centre is a blessing, especially for the non Christians to know about Jesus and to grow in faith, said the bishop in his sermon. In the Holy Mass, the bishop thanked God for His blessings, which He has showered upon the pilgrims, who have visited the shrine, Divine Mercy Retreat Centre during the year of Mercy. The bishop remembered with gratitude His Grace, Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil who has opened the Door Mercy for the faithful and inaugurated the year of Mercy in Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, Lad Rymbai. The concluding celebration of the Year of Mercy ended with the preaching the word of God and a healing service. The Bishop attended all programmes of the day and was enriched by the God s blessing. 6

7 News from Vidyabhavan, Aluva. The canonical visit of our Superior General took place on 8 th December. SSSMILE Vidyabhavan collected over Rs by selling Christmas cards in various parishes and institutions. Our brothers and Fr. Rector conducted a half day SSSMILE Youth program in Aimury parish. We are preparing to make our annual retreat in Divine Retreat Centre from 16 th December. Retreat preacher is Fr. Peedikaparambil MCBS. It will be followed by the Diaconate and minor orders on 22 nd in Generalate. News from Elavur. The Cyclone Vardah hit also our Ashram in Elavur and damaged our buildings and properties. Many trees fell down within our compound. Sheet roofed residential block of minor seminarins were thrown away, so seminarians were shifted to other building. Let s remember all people affected by Vardah, especially our priests and brothers in our prayers. 7

8 News from Vincentian House, Berlin. The new residential block of our Berlin retreat centre is blessed and inaugurated on 11/12/2016. Popular Missions St. Joseph Province Popular Mission is going on well at St. Francis Xavier Church, Kandakadav in the Diocese of Alapuzha in four centres 8

9 Marymatha Province Popular Mission has already been started on December 11, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, West Chalakkudy, Irinjalakuda Diocese. The mission is preaching in 4 centres. Along with our priests four Deacons are also helping in the Popular Mission. Mar Pauly Kannookkadan, the Bishop of Irinjalakuda will give the concluding message. The Popular Mission team of the Sacred Heart Region under the leadership of Fr. Shijo Nettiyankal has started a Popular Mission on December 11 in Vempadu Parish, Diocese of Eluru, AP.
