1 A Conversation with Audrey Hepburn Hello there, Cowboy! Howdy, Ms. Hepburn. I like the hat! Oh, I borrowed it from Clint Eastwood the one he wore in his The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly movie. You look like a desperado! Did you shave today?

2 Ah, no. Well, I will still follow you around anywhere, cowboy! If you did follow me around enough, you would surely begin to take note of all the strange occurrences which seem to litter my mortal life on Earth, Audrey. Oh really? Yes, I cannot explain them usually, other than to say, that they must be God's will??? God s will??? Was it also God s will that you didn t shave today, Sir Brett??? I was just beginning to like your new clean shaven look. Ah, maybe??? We had our final art class This week, and you might remember that I have taken your Rock Opera in a time traveling Wild West direction??? No, I do not remember. Are you sure you told me??? Maybe, I forgot??? Well, anyway the first person I met on the last day of our Broken Art Class was a lady in a wheelchair who was on her last day at Good Shepherd Hospital recovering from an operation on her spinal column. Poor soul She asked me about my helper dog "Sophia." After a few moments of chit chat about my dog, I invited her to join our class for the day... She asked me what we were doing...

3 What were you doing? Well, I said that we were on our final day of creating Mandalas, but that she could join in, if she would like to. Art in a cirlcle Yes, the word Mandala originates from the Sanskrit word for circle. Any of various ritualistic geometric designs symbolic of the universe. They are used particularly in Hinduism and Buddhism as an aid to meditation, but Christian Saints and many cultures including Native Americans have created Mandalas as well. What did she say to you? Well, funny that you should ask, Audrey. Funny. The woman said, oh... I paint Native American spirit wheels... medicine wheels! Medicine wheels??? Yes, I said really, are you an Indian??? She said, a Native American. Please do not call our people "Indians." We are not from India! So, I apologized... A mistake Yes, then she told me her family background. Her Great Great Grandfather was a Kanuk Medicine man. His Wife was an Earth Mother... or, the female equivalent. of a Medicine man as she explained to me.

4 Hey, perhaps God is trying to send you a new doctor??? Yes, ha maybe he is??? Anyhow, his wife was Mohawk, and apparently came from an Apache chief who raised her. How does she know that??? I don t know Mixed blood also gave this lady, Marie, who I was speaking to Seneca, and Tuscarora lines of descent. I asked her for her phone number. Why would you do that??? Because I told you I had been thinking that very morning right after speaking to you??? about taking the play I am writing for Ms. Hepburn in a Western direction. Did Marie give you her phone number??? Yes. Her name is "Marie Perz," and she said "Sure, just give me a piece of paper to write on." So, I handed her a piece of paper, and she proceeded to draw me this picture. Abaddon: What is the picture of???

5 She drew a picture of the Native Amrican Black Elk who Was of the Lakota tribe He is sitting on the beach in Italy watching Mount Vesuvius erupt during the 1800's. Did she tell you the significance of this Medicine Wheel??? Yes. She, "Marie reminds me of looking at my MS??? She, "Marie reminds you??? The picture she drew, and what she said to me.

6 You probably said wow!!! What was he doing there??? Yes, exactly Audrey! That s exactly right!!! She told me that he was traveling with the Wild Bill Hickock show, and that he was also a writer... like me??? I told her that she just gave me the

7 time traveling destination for my character's first "Leap" with Audrey H She smiled and said that she wanted a copy of my book when I finish writing it, and that I could find the same artwork she just sketched for me at Fugly's Bar in Easton, PA, if I was ever interested in time traveling there, as well... Then she disappeared... Well, she said goodbye and left class after finishing her drawing. You really gotta read about this guy Black Elk... Does he not sound exactly like the Native American, Catholic "Medicine Woman" I just described in my play as Audrey H. 2095??? Black Elk also claimed to have had several visions in which he met the Great Spirit who guides the entire universe.

8 Anyhow, this unusual true to life autobiographical occurrence in my character's life may suggest a new direction to "Audrey" in my play... Up until now she has only been visiting my character in his dreams where he can always walk. Now, she may take him where he cannot walk to a witch doctor medicine man in EARTH's past who has actually spoken to the Great Spirit of the universe, and who may be able to help Audrey H and Sir Brett continue their Quest together against Abaddon, Lucifer and all the forces of evil! "No more bad, sad thoughts about ending your life, Sir Brett!"

9 Elk Speaks Being Oglala/dp/ What an inspiration!!!!!!!!!!! People are sent our direction by God and other unknown forces. What we do with the knowledge they impart, is up to us as individuals. What you do with Audrey is amazing!!!!! As a photographer, I wish I could do just a small part of what you do. Thanks Brett (and Sophia). JIM

10 Oh, you can do it!!! That's why God keeps sending me all my half crazy signs... Go buy Photoshop and start having some extra fun with your pictures, Jim. Brett: I'm sure that your friend meant the Buffalo Bill Cody show not Wild Bill Hickok. He never was part of a show. He was shot in a Deadwood, S.D., saloon while still slinging a gun. But be careful what you say about him. He was my sixth counin, four generations removed. Funny thing, I never get invited to the family reunions. I think I've mentioned before that I'm a genealogy nut. Hal S. Hebrews 12:1,2 Hey there Brett, I would be careful about using the term "witch doctor medicine man" because witches and medicine men are not the same thing, according to Navajo medicine men. In the Dine culture, witches can be skin walkers who have intent to harm people, most often because of jealousy. Witches and skin walkers put curses on people that cause them to sicken and even die. The medicine men are the ones who know how to lift the curses, and remove the offending piece of bad magic, many times a porcupine quill from the nose. They are also the ones who know the complicated chants, specific to any given problem, some of which last for up to 9 days depending on the medicine needed, and they also do the sand paintings a laborious undertaking. Not the samething at all as what the commercially produced paintings are. (as a side note, the Tibetan Buddhists also make beautiful sand paintings, but not for the exact same purposes.)

11 Of course, most modern Anglo witches are not evil old things trying to do harm, but people who are committed to taking care of Mother Earth, but that is not a common view held by most tribes. By the way, the people I lived with didn't mind being called American Indians, although their first preference was to be called Dine (din eh)(the people) because that is their name for themselves. They were OK with Native American, and with Navajo, but it wasn't their choice. Try the book "Black Elk Speaks." I think you'll find it enlightening. I think it was his grandson who actually wrote it, but I can't remember exactly. Happy trails! "for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." Hamlet II.2 Cool, thanks folks!!! Hey, I will have to make you part of this story too... Would you like me to pass along any messages to your MEDICINE MAN relative BullDog, when I time travel back across history to visit him with Audrey H. 2095?

12 Thanks wyrdsister, given my mistakes, I will try doing more homework before I blab on and on about stuff I really do not understand... I was just excited! Given that... do you think I should take this unusual occurrence as a good omen in my play, or as a dangerous diversion orchestrated by those who would destroy my character??? I need to think about the next scene in my play, as it could mean an actual break in my dream sequences... to an actual historic reality??? I am having

13 some difficulty working the idea of my powerwheelchair into the Wild West. I can always walk in my dreams... but, if "Audrey" takes me outside my dreams, I will be disabled as I am... and very dependent on my powerchair to transport me everywhere I may need to go. That could be difficult or impossible if I am on a beach during the 1800's with Black Elk or in the Wild West somewhere??? I was thinking that maybe "Audrey" knows a way around this obstacle possibly... Maybe a "Vision Quest" in which my body travels to the actual place in time, but which allows me to free myself from my chair in a suspended dream like state for short periods of time. After all, Audrey H is performing an amazing stunt just traveling to me in my dreams, not reality, from across time... Maybe Black Elk can teach my character to "Vision Quest" away from his body??? Anyhow, just a thought! Let me know if you have any ideas... Maybe being stuck in my powerchair would make for a better story??? Or, maybe a little of both ideas is best??? I don't know. "The Abaddon" or Lucifer possibly... wants to crush my humanity in the story... to keep the android from becoming more human. He may accomplish more by making my character suffer in the play than by simply killing me... Audrey H may simply find another human... unless my character is special. Either way, Abaddon and his minions will have to find my character's powerchair & body before they can stop and poison me... Audrey H seems to know about the demon Abaddon for some reason??? She will obviously play a role in protecting my actual body... Oh well, CRAZY THOUGHTS!
