3 JOHN JONCHUCK, SR., the deponent herein, being first duly sworn, was examined and testified as foows: DIRECT EXAMINATION BY MS. MANUELE: Q. Can you please state your name for the record. A. John Nicholas Jonchuck, Senior. Q. What is your date of birth, sir? A. 02//57. Q. We're here today because you've been listed as a witness in the State of Florida versus John Jonchuck. This is regarding the death of Phoebe Jonchuck back in January of 20. Obviously you're familiar with the Circumstances, right? Q. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Micki, but your wife your most recent wife, Michee Jonchuck, did you ca her Micki? Q. Okay. So we' refer to John's mom Michele as Michele and then your most recent wife as Micki. A. Okay. Q. When did you and Michele start a relationship? A. Probably 86 I wanna say. Q. You guys were married at some point, right?

4 A. Yeah, we were married. Q. When did that end? A. That ended around 90. Two years I think we were married. Q. So when you and Michele divorced your son John was already born; is that correct? Q. Was he about one or two? Does that sound right? A. Yes, he was two I believe. Q. When you and Michele divorced was it an amicable relationship sti? Did y'a sti get along or did you see her at a? A. No, I didn't reay see her. We didn't get along too good. I mean, she had Johnny and she gave him to me when he was two. Q. How long did he live with you? A. Up until he was 18. Q. When did Micki come into the picture? A. We were married for years. Looking probably at '98. Q. Do you know about how old John was I don't know if you married first or moved in first - when you started living together as a family? A. Five I believe. I wanna say five. Q. After you and Micki were together would Michele

5 did she have any role in either helping raise John or coming around at a? A. No. Q. At some point did you and Michele start to get along better or have some kind of relationship? A. No. Q. Would I be correct in saying that any contact you had with Michele was just because of y'a's Child? Q. Did John live with you I know you said until he was about 18. Was it consistently from 2 to 18 or were there periods of time where he would live elsewhere? A. It was until he was 18. Q. Did he ever live with his Uncle Brian? A. He would go and stay with him sometimes. Q. Like stay the night like a couple nights in a row or for like months at a time? A. No, maybe a night, maybe two, or a weekend. Q. Am I correct Brian was Michele's brother; is that correct? Q. Did you and he have any kind of relationship? A. Friends. Q. You got along okay? A right. Let me ask you

6 this. Did you ever take John to a psychiatrist or a psychologist growing up? A. Yes, I believe we had to get him on medicine. He was having problems in school once he started school. Q. Once he started school. Then are you thinking like five, six ish? A. Around six years old. Q. Was there a particular incident or what were some of the Circumstances that made you think we need to probably get him some medication? A. I didn't know anything about the medication but when we went to see the doctor he diagnosed him as ADDHD [sic]. Q. What made you think to go to the doctor? Did the school suggest it or how did that come about? A. The day care suggested it. Q. Did they give you anymore information? A. They just gave me their names and numbers and said if somebody needed to talk to them to have them ca them because they said they would help me. Q. Was it a behavioral issue? Q. Was he getting in trouble at the day care? A. Yes, acting out. Q. Had you had any problems with him acting out at

7 home up to that point? A. A little bit. Q. I guess at that point had you had problems significant at home that you would have sought treatment from yourself if the school hadn't recommended it? A. Probably, yes. We were looking into it. Q. How was Micki and John's relationship? A. Very good. Q. They always seem to get along? A. Very good. Q. Did he look at her like a mother? He treated her like a mother figure? Q. I know there has been some incidents between y'a back and forth. Would you say overa was it a good relationship, a bad relationship between you and John? A. I thought it was good other than what little issues would pop up. Q. Do you remember where you first took him when they diagnosed him ADHD? A. I think it was out at USF. Q. Did you take him to those appointments or did Micki take him usuay? A. Both of us.

8 Q. Did you both go together or it was just whoever could get off work would take him at that time? A. We both go together. Q. And when he would go in and speak to the doctor would they take him by himself or would you guys a go together? A. We, he talked to us and then he would take him in and talk to him and then he would talk back with us after he talked with him. Q. How long do you think he was going to USF? A. I would say close to a year probably. Q. Is that the only place that you ever took him to receive any kind of like psychiatric or psychological treatment? Q. You think he was there for one year total? A. To my recoection, yeah, maybe longer. Q. Do you know if his Uncle Brian ever was taking to him to USF for anything? A. Not to my knowledge. Q. Where was Michele at this time period? So like early Childhood. A. She was in trouble with drugs maybe. She might have been, you know, incarcerated. Q. When she wasn't incarcerated did she make any

9 efforts to come spend time with John at a? Q. How would you describe their relationship? A. Good. Q. Were there incidents when Michele would perhaps say she was coming to get John or spend time with John and then she wouldn't show up? Q. How did John take that? A. Angrily. Q. At some point did you notice a Change where John and his mom started getting along better? Q. About when do you think that would have occurred? A. When he got older. Q. You think when Phoebe was born or before that? A. Before that. Q. You think like older, like or, or... A. I wanna say between the ages of 8 and 12. Q. Were y'a a religious family? A. Didn't go to Church a lot. Micki was kinda more, her family. Q. Did Micki go to Church regularly or she just A. It depended on like if she went with her family, you know, what family was here.

10 Was Micki's family here in the area? No, just her sister. Where does her sister live? DeLand. And where is the rest of Micki's family? Kentucky. The sister in DeLand, what's her name? Dani, D a n i. Her name is Dani Cole. Did she ever the Q. around? MR. WILLIAMS: Can you spe the last name for court reporter? THE DEPONENT: C-O-l-e. Did y'a spend much time with Dani? No. Did John ever go as a kid did y'a ever take church regularly as a kid? No. As he got older did he ever go to Church? No. Michee Kerr, when did you meet her? Probably when he was about 18. When John was about 18? Yes. And I guess when did John start bringing her Were they dating already, was she pregnant?

11 11 Where in their relationship? A. I don't know for sure when that a started but I know she stepped up and said he could come stay with her. Q. Michee said that John could go stay with her? Q. Was he living with you up until the point he moved in with her? Q. Was he working then? Q. Do you remember where? A. Might have been a restaurant. Q. What kind of work do you do? A. Construction. Q. You work long days; is that right? A. Long days, long hours. Q. Were you working construction back in 20 to 20 time? Q. Did you ever bring up like, you know, John, how about you come do construction with me, or something like that, have something more stable? A. I asked him about possibly being a laborist. I had to start out at that and he didn't want nothing to

12 12 do with it. It was telemarketing or working in a restaurant or something. Q. Did he seem to have a bunch of jobs for short periods of time? Q. Was Micki working at this time? Q. Was she always working? A. Pretty much, yes. Q. How many times do you think you saw Michee Kerr or you interacted with her? A. I wanna say maybe 20 times. Not reay any interaction. Say hi, you know, when I would see him. I might give him a ride or he would come over and I would ride him back over. Q. Did you ever go over to any of the houses that they lived at together? Q. What were your thoughts when you found out that they were having a baby? A. I was a little surprised. Q. Why were you surprised? A. She had two Children already. I didn't think she wanted anymore Children. I actuay didn't know she could sti have children.

13 13 Q. having A. Q. Do you remember how you found out they were a baby? I think he told me. And do you remember his reaction? If he seemed excited or upset or... A. Q. Excited, happy. Did that ever Change? Did he ever express to you that he didn't like being a dad or anything like that? A. Q. before A. No. How long do you think John was out of the house moving back in with you? Three to four years I think because I threw him out when he was 18. Q. caused heads? in our Q. A. Q. A. Was there a specific instance or something that that or just it's 18, time to go, we're butting We, he would get angry and he broke everything house. My wife went to a motel, Micki. She went to a motel? Yes, I was working in Georgia at the time. What happened? She caed me up, told me what had happened and he came in and snapped and broke everything and I was on my way motel home that night. She said she would stay in a 'til I got there.

14 Q. This is when John was 18? Q. Did you come back from Georgia? Q. What happened when you got back? A. I came back from Georgia. I picked Micki up from the motel. We went back to the house. I opened the front door. I got a broom, a shovel and a garbage can. I started shuffling up broken glass, whatever else was broken, started at the doorway, worked our way into the whole house. Every room probably stuff was about at least an inch, inch and half thick on the floor. Everything was broken. Q. Was John there? A. Not at the time. That's when I told him to get Q. Did Micki te you what had started it? A. He snapped, she said. Got a mad over something and Q. Other than teing John he was no longer welcome to live there was there any other discussion between you and him about what had happened or what had caused, you know, him to get so upset? A. Maybe a phone didn't work, a computer didn't do something. He would go out and slam to the ground.

15 Q. Other than the ADHD were you ever aware of other diagnoses that he had? A. Not 'til after the fact, after he had moved out. Q. So after he moved out how did you find out then? Did he te you or how... A. He would te me he went to the doctor for this or that or whatever and they gave him medicine. Q. Did he te you what they diagnosed him with or what kind of medicine he was taking? A. No, the same diagnosis, but there was just different medicine. When he first started taking the medicine it was Ritalin. The Ritalin when that wears off you're like a rubber ba. So they put him on Addera and Clonidine. That's what basicay got him through school until he decided he was gonna quit, which was a shock to us and that was at 16 you can quit school. After that I told him get a job. Q. Did he talk to you about quitting school? A. He just kinda did it. He was saying he was gonna quit and I'm like, Don't do that. You're not quitting school, because I think he was th grade. I think he was probably having problems in school. Q. Did you ever get any cas from his teachers or anything about issues at school? A. When he was younger I used to go in and see the

16 16 teachers, but other than that once he hit, you know, the middle school area there I didn't reay get cas from them, you know. Q. You mentioned working in Georgia one time. Did you often go to different places to work? A. Not a the time, but I would work out of town if I had to. Q. I know not a the time, but was it an unusual occurrence OI... A. Kinda, yes. I like to work at home around town. Q. Was the majority of your work done in the area? Q. What were the hours that you were working? A. Sometimes it would be 6:00 in the morning 'til 6:00 at night and then go back at 11:00 that night to watch the slab poured, the concrete form. Work building high rises. Q. So let's say like middle school time. John is getting home from school 3:OO ish or so. Is it Micki for the most part that's kind of raising him and doing the things around the house or is he kind of on his own or how is that working out? A. When he was going to school she was working 9:00 to 5:00. I was working a kinds of hours. He would go to day care after school. The bus would take him to day

17 care and then he would be picked up by Micki or myself at least by 6 o'clock and then they had the park where after school kids would go to the park, but now the park is no longer there. Q. So he's out of day care age. What about like middle school and stuff, how did that work? A. He got to the point where he could just come home. Q. So he had like a key and could come in? Q. Was Micki working the same 9:00 to 5:00 sti Q. After Phoebe was born did John and Phoebe ever move back in with you? A. No, not for a couple years anyway. Q. Okay. But at some point did they? A. Yes, they would stay on and off. They would stay with us and then he might go to his mother's, Michele's house, and stay with her for a while. Q. When you say for a while are we talking like a day or two or like weeks or months at a time? A. At one point it might have been months because him and her was living with her and I believe even he got with Michee Kerr again too and they were a

18 18 living with Michele. Q. When Phoebe and John would stay at your house what was like the sleep setup? A. We have a two bedroom. Me and Mickey in our room and Phoebe we had two beds in the bedroom. I mean he could sleep in there but he would sleep on the couch. Q. But Phoebe had kinda like her own little room over at your house? Q. What was the relationship like between Phoebe and A. She loved her daddy. Q. Did he seem to love her Q. back? Q. Did you ever have any concerns about him being a parent? A. Actuay I stuck up for him, you know. DCF had caed me one time and I stuck up for him because I would have rather seen her with him than with Ms. Kerr. Q. When you say you stuck up for him did you te them anything that was untrue or you were teing them that you thought he was a good dad kind of thing? A. He was a good dad.

19 Q. Prior to Phoebe being born did you ever have any suspicion or problems or issues with John using drugs or alcohol? Q. Te me about that. A. We, I used to take him to the hospital a lot. He would always be complaining and, you know, he didn't feel good and his stomach hurt or his head hurt or it was just to the point where it was after hours taking him to the pediatrician, you know. So eventuay there was a doctor in St. Joseph's that saw him a lot and then one night I guess they ran everything and came and told me, Mr. Jonchuck, he's on cocaine. I'm like, What? Q. Had you had any suspicion or anything like that before? A. No. Q. Do you remember how old John was at the time? A. Between 16 and 18. But a lot of the times I spent a lot of time in hospitals with him. Q. Like what kind of hospitals? A. St. Joseph's, like emergency room. Other than that he would go see his pediatrician regularly. Q. Do you remember him being Backer Acted or anything as a kid?

20 20 Q. How many times do you think that happened? A. At least five probably I wanna say. Q. Were those a initiated by you or Micki or did he ever get Baker Acted from school or not from you or Mickey? A. I know for sure that I Baker Acted him once, maybe twice. Then other than that he even Baker Acted hisself. Q. Do you remember when that was? A. Between and 18 I wanna say. Q. Did he te you about that? Did he talk to you about why he Baker Acted himself? A. Just a lot of anger issues. Somebody did something. I can't reca. Q. Would you say that you were Closer to John or Micki was Closer to John of the two of you? A. I would say Micki was closer. Micki was the calm. I was the one maybe, you know, working a the time, agitated sometimes just, you know, trying to get him to do the right thing. Q. When you say she was more the calm I guess she was more the one to be like let's talk about this, figure it out versus you coming home from work and you're just agitated that A. Yes, yes.

21 Q. So when John and Phoebe were staying with you would he talk to you about any problems between him and Kerr? A. Other than he would talk sometimes about he would be there with the Children and she would go out, you know. Q. Did you ever meet her other two kids? A. I met the one little boy and I actuay met the little girl, but I guess her other I don't know if it was her boyfriend or husband. He had the little girl. Q. You understand why she had one, but not the other one? Did she ever explain that or anything? A. I kinda saw that and after I had met her because when John said he was living with her a the time he would do a the cooking, the Cleaning, take care of the kids and at night she would get a phone ca or make some cas. Everything was computer with them and then she would go out. Q. After John and Michee kinda split up did you ever I guess did you see Michee when her and John were off ever? A. No. If I did it was only a few times and it would just be in passing. I might have saw her. She didn't see me or she might have saw me and I didn't see her. Those kinds of things.

22 Q. Other than the time that St. Joseph's told you that he was using cocaine did you ever observe him and believe that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol? A. Not reay. I worked a lot. I thought possibly that he could be. Q. Did you ever see him like aggressively discipline or do anything towards Phoebe that you thought was improper? A. Maybe just ye like, Go to sleep, and do this and I'd be like, Hey. Don't ye at her. Q. When you would say that would he listen or would you guys fight or A. He would listen but he would te me it's his daughter and he's raising her. I'm like, Yeah, but you're not gonna do that here. Q. Did you observe anything that caused you concern about as far as whether he was hurting her or anything? A. No. Never saw him hit her or anything like that. But she did spend a lot of time with John's mother Michele because she loved her to death. Q. Around the holidays of 20 did John and Phoebe were they staying with you for a little while then? A. He had an apartment I believe off he's had a

23 couple apartments with him and her. One was on Bearss. I wanna say it's off of Bearss Avenue. So to the best of my recoection. Q. I guess he was staying with you the night everything happened? Q. Had he been staying with you like a week or a couple weeks before that? A. Months. Q. Okay. A. Between me and his mother. Q. So he had been staying with you for a couple months then? A. Probably more than that actuay. Q. Did you notice a shift or Change in his behavior during those couple months? A. Not reay too much. A little bit I noticed, you know. He asked for my wife's Bible, the Swedish Bible. This is about a week before this happened and she explained to him that it's in Swedish. You can't read it, you know. But she let him, you know, use it. Q. Where was the Bible kept at the house? A. My wife had it put away. It wasn't like he could go get it. But he asked if he could hang on to it for a few days and she let him and then he wouldn't give it

24 back. Q. Was he like sleeping with it and everything, taking it to bed with him too? A. Either that or just had it in his vehicle. I told her to get that Bible because that Bible has been in her family a long time and that's gotta come back and go to them. Q. Did you know about this Bible prior to a this taking place? A. I knew about it because her family had gave it to Micki because it was in the family for a long time, but we didn't like I knew she had it and everything. We didn't mess with it too much because it got wet one time and to dry it I guess her grandmother had turned a page a day. Q. Oh, my gosh. A. I haven't seen it yet but I heard it's in pretty bad shape. Q. Did you ever see the Bible? A. I saw it, yes. I didn't reay try to read it. I just kinda looked and Micki opened a few pages and I'm like be easy with that because it's very old. Q. You said it was kept away kind of. It wasn't like displayed on like the fireplace or on a bookshelf or the living room or anything?

25 A. She would keep it in a drawer in the cabinet in the back. Q. Do you remember what room she normay kept it in? A. In our bedroom. Q. Were you there the first time that Micki kinda showed John or made John aware of the Bible? A. I don't reca. Q. When John started carrying it around were you home or you came home and he was already kinda carrying it around? A. She told me Johnny wanted the Bible for a few days but he wouldn't give it back to her. I knew he had it and everything and I said, You can't read that. You can't do anything with it. And I said, I don't want nothing to happen to that because that goes to her family. It's been in her family forever. Then she wanted it back, couldn't get it back and then everything happened. (Mr. Eis exits room.) Q. Did Micki say anything to you about the Bible knocking or making sounds? A. No. Q. Did Micki say anything to you about John talking about how the Bible was knocking or making sounds?

26 26 A. No. Q. Did Micki te you about going to the Church with John with the Bible? I think one day they did go to the Church she was teing me and then he had to get her back home. Q. When did you hear about that? A. I heard about that the day that they went and then everything happened pretty much that day or the next day I wanna say. Q. It sounds like they went to the Church on January 7th and then late night January 7th going to January 8th is when Phoebe died. Did she te you anything about going to the Church on the 7th or it was the 8th, the next day, that she mentioned it? A. That day that they went she told me about it. We went to the Church, talked to the priest and then I guess after that he had gone and seen a lawyer and I believe she said something about he was teing her something about the Bible and I guess she got worried. Q. Who got worried, Micki? A. The lawyer. Apparently she caed the police. The police came and talked to him and I guess they told I'm not sure what they told but they said he's no danger to hisself, his daughter or anyone else and they didn't do anything with him.

27 27 Q. Right. A. I think this was after Micki was home that this happened. They caught up with him or something from the lawyer. I don't reca that my wife was with him when he went to see the lawyer. I think it was just him and Phoebe. Q. And then A. Then the lawyer must have caed the police because she I guess he asked her to read something out of it and she's a it's Swedish. Q. Did Micki know Swedish? A. No, not to my knowledge. Q. When did John start putting like salt around the doorways and stuff? A. That might have been a couple weeks before the incident happened. I think I had come home and I seen him doing something. I'm like, What are you doing? Putting salt down. I'm like, For what? Put it around my windows, the doors. And I'm like, What? Q. What was his answer? A. Keep out the evil spirits. I'm like, What are you talking about? And I didn't reay get just to keep out the evil spirits. Q. Prior to this last week or so had he ever shown any interest in the Bible or religion reay?

28 28 A. No. Q. Did you find it unusual when he started showing interest in them? A. Yes, I did kinda because he told me he was gonna start a Bible Class. He talked to a priest and he might go to work for him or something. But he had a job I thought in another restaurant or someplace else and she was supposed to go to school in the morning. He was going to work. Q. When he started carrying around the Bible did you ask him at a, you know, what's this new found interest in God and everything? He's like, We, do you believe in God? I'm like, Yeah, we a believe in God. And just a little weird. I tried to get the Bible back from him because I knew how old it was and how important it was to her family but... Q. And how did that go? A. Didn't go too good. I didn't fight over it. He just didn't want to give it up. Q. Did it seem odd how obsessed he was with it being something he couldn't read even? A. A little bit, you know. It's like, You can't read it. Then give it back to her. You don't need to have it. And I told her because I knew it was important

29 29 to Micki, you know. I don't want anything to happen to that. He can hang on to it for a few days. So... Q. Do you remember what shifts you were working like that last week or so before everything? Do you remember what your shifts were looking like that week? A. I was working on 275 with I was working doing roads, building roads and slabs for them When I worked there I even worked long hours, you know, anywhere from to 16 hours a day. Sometimes I would even do a hour shift. And the week of that incident in three days I had worked probably a little over 40 hours. (Mr. Eis enters room.) Q. Would I be correct in thinking that Micki had a lot more contact with John that last week than you did? Q. Did John talk to you about wanting to get baptized this last week? A. I thought he was gonna have the baby baptized. He did mention something about it if I reca correctly. Q. John mentioned something to you? A. Yes, that he was gonna see a priest and have her baptized or something. Q. Micki indicated that John had expressed a concern that Phoebe was possessed by demons. Did he ever say

30 30 that to you or in your presence? A. One night he might have said something similar to that. She's possessed. I'm like, What are you talking about? Q. Did it seem like it kinda came out of left field? Q. Was he able to explain why he thought that? A. Not reay. That's when he was acting a little weird, you know. Q. The night that everything happened am I correct in that Michele had come over to y'a's house that night too? Q. What was going on that night? A. Just sitting around talking and she wanted Phoebe to come spend the night with her because Phoebe spent a lot of time with her. She said Phoebe could stay over, she would take her to school, but Johnny insisted no. I' bring her to school. I'm going to work tomorrow. We had bacon and/or eggs and sausage for dinner, me and Phoebe, and then that was about 9:00, 9:30. Around o'clock we a laid down to go to sleep. Q. Do you remember what time Michele left? A. She was like, Let Phoebe come with me tonight, you know. Johnny is like, No, she's gonna stay with me.

31 31 I' take her to school. She's like, I' bring her to school. And she probably left around 9:30, quarter to :00. Q. Everybody getting along that night? Q. And then once you go to bed is the next thing that you reay know about the police are coming to talk to you? A. Once I went to sleep I was so tired. Everybody went to sleep. I woke up in the morning and I looked in the back room and then I said, Mickey, where is Johnny and Phoebe? I don't know, because they would stay at our house and then he would leave sometimes at night and go to Michele's house and they would stay over there. Like I said, he was back and forth and she goes, I think I heard him leave last night. We assumed that he went to Michele's. Always that's where he went. I took a shower. I was getting dressed. A of a sudden they started talking about it on the news. It was pieces. Q. You heard about it on the news? A. Yes, they talked about a white PT Cruiser and then some man and then a little girl and then a of a sudden they said her name and his name and I just yeed, Micki, Johnny kied Phoebe last night. There

32 32 was 20 cops beating on my door right at that moment and they asked me, Are you Mr. Jonchuck? Do you have a place to sit down? And I told them that my son kied my granddaughter. We're sorry you had to hear that on the news. We tried to get here before. And Micki was like she just asked, Did y'a get him? Just ripped up for I don't know. Q. Did you ever talk to John after that? A. No. Q. Did Mickey ever talk to John? Did Micki ever te you she ever talked to John after that? A. No, I think he had caed. I know he tried to ca me a couple times. I was at work one day and he did ca and I answered the phone and he said something. I said, I can't talk to you, and I hung up. Q. What about Micki? Do you know if Micki and him ever talked? A. After that incident, probably a little before that incident she kinda started getting scared of him. I think she might have talked to him one time, but then she didn't want to talk to him anymore after he did that. Q. Was Micki diagnosed with any mental iness? A. (Deponent shakes head.) Q. You kind of

33 33 A. No. Q. I understand your answer is no but your face is kinda like, no, of course not, kinda thing. A. We, yeah, there is nothing wrong with Micki. Q. Do you see mental iness as something is wrong with somebody? A. Mental iness you just I figure you're not a there, you know. Might be something causing that, you know, and then there is people that just lose it, go off. Q. Have you ever been evaluated or anything? I'm guessing no. A. No. When I was younger when I was growing up my mom told me I was hyper but there wasn't what there is now, you know. You were just a hyper Child. You know what I'm saying? There is no doctor. There was no ADDHD. And after they came out with that a the teachers were like you know, that a lot of them want a most of the students say you got a problem, the kid is just acting out a little bit. A of a sudden is like they need to be on medicine. I didn't reay even like putting him on medicine. He actuay stopped his medicine by hisself. He said he didn't want to take it anymore. That was probably back between and 17, I'd say.

34 34 Q. You only remember taking him to USF for about a year or so? Q. That was about five. And then he's taking the medication until he stops at. Where is he getting the medicine from then? A. It was coming from the doctor. We took him steady for a year and then he might have to go once a month, you know, something like that. Q. So he was sti going, just not as frequently? I can't reay reca what age basicay we stopped going to him, but then the pediatrician picked it up, you know. He started that because he was having trouble in the day cares and then in school concentration wise. He said he wasn't concentrating. It a started in day cares. Q. Do you remember him being prescribed Seroquel? A. No. That would have to be something that was on him somehow, unless the pediatrician gave it to him. I don't reca. It's hard to remember everything. He was at the doctors so much and the hospital. Spent a lot of time in the hospital. It was always after hours. I don't know if it was an attention thing or, you know. Sometimes I would go in the hospital 9:00 at night I wouldn't get out until 4:00 in the morning. I had to go

35 35 to work at 6 o'clock. Then Micki too a few times went through that, you know. If I was out of town she would have to take him. Q. The last night that he was at your house, do you remember him talking about religion a lot then? A. A little bit, not a lot. Q. Was a little bit even unusual? A. Sometimes he would go to Church like back when Michele's grandparents were alive when he was younger, a little boy. If he stayed over there with Brian they might get up the next day and go to church. He probably went to Church more with her side of the family than he ever did with me because I don't go to church. Q. It looks like the first day that the police talked to everybody Michele tes the police that she knows John's been diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar and schizophrenia. Are you familiar with those diagnoses or did you not know about any of that until after? A. Probably after. Q. So you guys never talked about bipolar disorder and the possible symptoms and everything of that? A. No. This a became when he was older apparently. Q. And then schizophrenia, are you familiar with the symptoms of that or anything?

36 36 A. No. Q. Would I be correct in that you don't have much experience or education about mental iness? Q. Did you have any reason to think that John had been drinking or was doing any drugs that night? A. No. MS. MANUELE: Greg might have a few questions for you. CONTINUED DIRECT EXAMINATION BY MR. WILLIAMS: Q. You don't by Chance remember the name of the doctor he was seeing at USF, do you? A. I don't remember. Should be in his file but there was maybe two or three or four doctors. They did like a six month internship there and what have you. Q. Okay. Yeah. At USF they have like the head doctor so he might see an intern one time and different person the next time? A.
