1 Earn a trust this week. Collect a stack of one hundred coins and put them in a jar. Every time you follow through with something you ve been asked to do, you earn a trust. Example: If one of your chores is to take out the trash and you do it everyday without being asked, you earn a coin for each day. Your parents earn coins when they do what you have asked them to do. See who has the most coins at the end of the week. We choose to earn trust. If we promise to do something and don t do it, we ve failed to follow through. But when we follow through with our promises we show others we are trustworthy. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much Luke 16:10a Prayer Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me the abilities to do a great job in everything I do. Help me to earn trust by always being honest and always doing my best. I pray that others would see I am trustworthy and they would see Jesus in everything I do. 8 The Unfaithful Servant (Paraphrased from Luke 19:12-26) He said, "A nobleman was called away to a distant empire to be crowned king and then return. Before he left, he called together ten servants and gave them ten pounds of silver to invest for him while he was gone. But his people hated him and sent a delegation after him to say they did not want him to be their king. "When he returned, the king called in the servants to whom he had given the money. He wanted to find out what they had done with the money and what their profits were. The first servant reported a tremendous gain--ten times as much as the original amount! `Well done!' the king exclaimed. `You are a trustworthy servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.' "The next servant also reported a good gain--five times the original amount. `Well done!' the king said. `You can be governor over five cities.' "But the third servant brought back only the original amount of money and said, `I hid it and kept it safe. I was afraid because you are a hard man to deal with, taking what isn't yours and harvesting crops you didn't plant.'" `You wicked servant!' the king roared. `Hard, am I? If you knew so much about me and how tough I am, why didn't you deposit the money in the bank so I could at least get some interest on it?' Then turning to the others standing nearby, the king ordered, Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one who earned the most.'" `But, master,' they said, `that servant has enough already!'" Yes,' the king replied, but to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who are unfaithful, even what little they have will be taken away. 12 We set a great example for our friends who do not know Jesus when we prove ourselves to be Trust is earned, just like money is earned for chores. When someone asks you to do something, and you do a good job, you will be trusted to do a good job the next time. Trust is something we earn by showing others we are trustworthy. What does the word trustworthy mean to you? Draw a picture of someone being trustworthy: 1 2 This is a picture of 3 and they are being trustworthy because Look up Luke 19:12-26 In Luke 19:12-26 Jesus told a story of a servant who was untrustworthy. Why do you think he was considered untrustworthy? List some things you are trusted to do? (For example: after school chores, take care of pets, tell the truth ) : WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO, FOLLOW THROUGH! Repeat 5 times really fast and time yourself Record your fastest time.
13 Earn a trust this week. Collect a stack of one hundred coins and put them in a jar. Every time you follow through with something you ve been asked to do you earn a coin.
