SHASHI AZAD Ph. : OFFICE BEARERS' WORKSHOP - DELHI STATE (SOUTH) The Annual Karyakarta Prashikshan Shivir for the State Executive Committee Members and all BVP Branch office bearers including branch conveners for , was held on Sunday MAY 22, 2011 from 9:30AM at DAV Model School, Yusuf Sarai, New Delhi as per program. The presence of most of the office bearers from the state & branches was very encouraging. It is noteworthy that our patron Dr R. K. Thakur was present to bless us in spite of not keeping too well. The workshop started with fellowship & tea, followed by Deep Prajawalan and Vandematram. Oath was administered to the newly elected office bearers by Sh. B. L. Prashar. Directory of Office Bearers published by the State for the year was then released by Dr. R. K. Thakur. The undersigned then presented the Annual Report for the year Sh. Nalin Kohli, our Treasurer presented the audited Annual Accounts. Both reports were adopted unanimously. National Vice President & our Advisor, Sh. B. L. Parashar explained in detail BVP Sewa & Sanskar Programs. The State Conveners then presented their reports for the year and targets & clarifications for the year Some highlights the state should organise some big program to make BVP awareness in the public of the area to increase membership & contributions, substantial repairs to the Dental Van are required, the state should organise a big Viklang Camp and branches not holding individually could be asked to join. It was decided to call a meeting of the State Advertisement Rates Half Page : Rs. 1000/- Quarter Page : Rs. 600/- Matrimonial : Rs. 200/- Editor K. B. MAHAJAN Ph. : Executive soon for deciding these issues. Branches were requested to immediately start contacting the schools of their areas for conducting GVCA, BKJ & NGSC programs. Branches were also requested to organise more Bal Sanskar Shivirs and regular ladies meetings to spread BVP awareness in their areas. We were hounoured to have amongst us, Sh. I. D. OJHA, National Working President and our Chief Advisor. He informed about the BVP activities & acheivments under various programs at the all India level. He felt proud of the performance of his home state during Certificates were then distributed to the branches & conveners in accordance with their performances during The details are provided in a separate list. The undersigned expressed special thanks for the excellent arrangements to Smt. Lily Saini and all her staff members for their untiring efforts and hospitality in holding the workshop. Sh. M. L. 2 ACTIVITIES HEALTH In March 2011 two dental camps were organized in Sewa Basti. 36 were the beneficiaries. SEWA/HELP THE NEEDY (SARAL VIVAH) During March help in kind was rendered to Kumari Jyoti of A/733, J. J. Colony Uttam Nagar, New Delhi to enable her to solemnize her marriage in a befitting manner. PRAUD SANSKAR/SR. CITIZEN CARE All our colleagues whose birth falls in March were felicitated in a very well attended meeting followed by a very information talk by Choudhary Ram Kishan an eminent social activist on Contribution of our sages to our society. He briefly touched upon the well known all-encompassing contribution of Sh. Ram, Sh. Kishan, Swami Dayanand, Swami Vivekanand, Guru Teg Bahadur and little known but large contribution of Dr. Hedgewar who, inspite of abject poverty completed his education in Medicine to become full fledged doctor. He went to Jail for taking active part in freedom movement, worked with contemporary revolutionaries. PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT CAMPS The first camp of the academic session was th declared open on Sunday, 10 April 2011,in a simple but solemn ceremony by Sh. SP Bhatia, President of the Branch in the presence of its functionaries and members of executive. The functionaries were introduced to the 95 participating trainees of age group of the various schools of A Block Janakpuri. Aims & Objects of the camp were explained urging them to be regular and punctual. Two more such camps were also organized on subsequent th th Sundays i.e. 17 & 24 April attended by 105 & 86 children respectively. APRIL 2011 A BLOCK JANAK PURI BRANCH PARTICIPATION IN RAM SHOBHA YATRA The branch participated in Ram Shobha Yatra organized by 'Dharmik Samajik Sangh, Janak Puri to commemorate Ram th Navami' on 17 April In a tastefully decorated 'Jhanki' of 'Ram Darbar' our children sitting at the feet of the deity under the guidance of Smt. Madhu Seth incharge of the project sang Bhajan and Devotional songs which were highly applauded. SEWA/HELP THE NEEDY Clothes collected by the untiring efforts of Sh. K. L. Verma, incharge of this project, were distributed among the 30 needy families of Sewa Basti, adopted by the branch. HEALTH 3 Camps were held. 55 were the beneficiaries. PRAUD SANSKAR/ SR. CITIZEN CARE In a fairly well attended regular monthly meeting, worthy colleagues whose birth falls fall in April were felicitated wishing them well in life, followed by an enlightening talk on Vairagya and Bhakti in Human Life by an eminent social worker Dr. NL Madan. According to him Vairagya is not Renunciation of the world. On the contrary it simply means performing of duties while living in this very world without attachment, remembering always the omnipotent, omnipresent & omniscient GOD. Sh. S. P. Bhatia proposed a Vote of Thanks. After light refreshment the meeting came to close. C-2 BLOCK JANAK PURI BRANCH S. P. Bhatia, President HONOURING MEMBERS WHO ARE 80 YEARS & ABOVE Our branch honoured the senior members who are 80 years & above on They are eleven members out of which nine were present. Brief life sketch with introduction of each member was given by Sh. K. C. Sud, Secretary. They were then honoured by presenting a shawl & a momento by our Central & State Leaders, viz. S/Sh. I. D. Ojhja, National Working President, D. N. Gover, B. L. Parashar, M. L. Gaur, R. C. Puri, all Secretaries of various projects in the centre. Smt. Shashi Azad, Sh. M. L. Arora, Sh. Nalin K o h l i, G e n. Secretary, President & T r e a s u r e r respectively of South D e l h i S t a t e & President & Gen. Secretary of Geeta Mandir besides functionaries of nearby branches & other prominent persons of the area. Sh. I. D. Ojha in his brief address, appreciated the initiative & efforts of Branch & gave a brief account of the activities of Bharat Vikas Parishad for the welfare of Senior Citizens in particular. 2

HELP TO HANDICAPPED Two tricycles fitted with boxes were provided to handicapped persons. We promised to provide the material also. Sh. I. D. Ojha - National Working President B.V.P. highlighted the sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh eminent dignatories presents were Dr. R. K. Thakur - Member National Governing Board B.V.P. Smt. Kanta Ojha - Branch Executive Member. On 22nd April 2011 Bharat Vikas Parishad Janak Puri (Main) Branch organized a competition on Ram Charit Manas among senior citizens. On this occasion Sh. P. N. Grover - Vice President Delhi State South & Sh. R. S. Aggarwal - Branch Treasurer honoured Dr. R. K. Thakur on his 80th Birthday. Our branch donated scholarship to 2 Students, Sewing Machine & 1 Hearing Aid to other needy persons. On 23rd April 2011 the Branch organized an Essay competition (in Hindi). 134 students from 7 schools participated in the competition. BAL SANSKAR SHIVIR A Bal Sanskar Shivir under Bal Sanskar Project was organised by Janak Puri (Main) Branch from to (14 days) at Shri Sanatan Dharm Mandir, C-3 Bus Stop, Janak Puri, New Delhi. The shivir was inaugurated by Sh. P. R. Sahni - Former Mayor of Delhi. 108 students participated & learnt the art of Yoga & Pranayam from eminent Yogarcharyas like Sh. G. B. Sharma & Sh. P. D. In this 11 local schools alongwith 15 teachers participated. Prizes were given to the menitorious students of Class IX, X & XI who stood I, II & III in their last exam. A trophy with a pen set were distributed & t e a c h e r s a l s o honoured with gifts. MRV Public School, Krishna Park Extn. children showed some scenes of Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru & Sukhdev martyrdom, which the gatharing applauded.
