2 A special thank you In 1996 I attended a leadership training with author/speaker and friend Snowden McFall owner of Brightwork Advertising and Training. In the training, she shared with us the power of creating Dream Boards. Every year since, I have made a Dream Board and it has helped to transform my life. I can look back at them and see how they empowered and reminded me to stay focused on achieving my goals and dreams; such as owning a successful business, speaking professionally in all 50 states, completing the Boston Marathon three times, becoming a published author, finding my soul mate and the list goes on. Thank you, Snowden for making a positive difference in my life and in the thousands of lives that I now share the power of creating Dream Boards with.

3 You know that I believe in the power and influence of a Dream Board, but don t just take my word for it. Here is a great story of how making a Dream Board and staying focused on your goals and dreams can change your life Dear Mr. Gerety, I heard you speak at a state student council conference where you talked about your Dream Boards. I was so inspired I decided I was going to make a Dream Board for myself. There is no doubt in my mind that my Dream Boards have single handedly changed my life. Despite many personal obstacles, including depression and an unknowingly struggling with ADD for first 18 years of my life, I was able to use my Dream Board as motivation to point my life in a new direction. Today, I m a happier, more successful person thanks to you, and your message. I am currently in college with a double major in Advertising and Art. Thanks to the leadership skills I developed in high school, by 19 years old, I had already landed myself a management position at The Gap. Then, I started my own business on the side doing custom illustration and design work. Now, I work as an Assistant Manager with different retailer, attend school full time, maintain a 3.5 GPA, have a second job as an Art Director for an Advertising Agency, and on occasion sell a piece or two of my art. These are just a few of the more recent accomplishments I m proud to say I have achieved, all of which have one thing in common: They were all on my Dream Board. Although these are all things I am proud of, there is one thing from my Dream Board of which I am the most proud. Before attending my first national conference, I attended a summer leadership camp. This is where my life-altering journey began, and my biggest dream was to one day be a counselor at camp, so that I could help give another kid the same life changing

4 opportunity that I experienced. This last summer, I was accepted as a Junior Counselor, and am returning this summer for a second year. I suggested to the staff that we have the campers make Dream Boards, and they unanimously agreed it was a wonderful idea. We didn t tell the campers about my own Dream Board until the night before they went home. During the last general session, I pulled my Dream Board out, and showed the students all the things I was able to accomplish because they were on it. I promised them if they wanted anything passionately enough, and they put on their Dream Board, they could have it. All 200+ students made a Dream Board! So many kids came up to me after I spoke and said that I had changed their lives. But it wasn t me who changed their lives, it was you. We have decided that Dream Boards are going to be a camp tradition every year, and I thought it was probably about time I got around to letting you know how many people have been touched by your message. I can t express my gratitude enough, because you have made such a monumental difference in so many people s lives. Today I am a better daughter, a better sister, a better friend, and better human being because of the inspiration and determination you have inspired me to achieve. I hope that someday I will have the opportunity to thank you in person, and express my gratitude for encouraging me, and so many other people, to DREAM. 5 What is a Dream Board? A Dream Board is a powerful visual representation of your goals and dreams. It is a poster created by you containing both pictures and words that describe your goals and dreams. It represents who you are, where you want to go, and what you are committed to achieving. It is not just a collage of pretty pictures. It is a powerful tool that has been used by thousands of individuals to help them make their dreams come true. Recently in the bestselling book, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, there was reference to this powerful exercise. It is referred to in the book as a Vision Board. Whether you call it a Dream Board, Vision Board, Treasure Map, or something else - the intent is still the same. 6 How does a Dream Board work? What you think about you become. What you focus on in your life you attract. Creating a dream board plays an important part of you achieving your goals and living your dreams. You can hang your Dream Board on a wall either at your home, office, bedroom or anywhere that is highly visible for you. Every day take a few moments to look at your Dream Board and reflect on what you are committed to experiencing, achieving, or being.

15 What steps can I take after I have created my Dream Board? Once I create my Dream Board, is that all I have to do make my goals and dreams come true? Think of your Dream Board as a kind of compass that points you in the direction of where you want to go. You are still the one that has to take the steps to go in the direction you have set your course toward. Take action! Make a conscious step every day to look at your dream board make it be the first thing you look at in the morning and the last thing you look at before you go to bed at night.

22 How often should I make a Dream Board? That is entirely up to you! Some people make a Dream Board once a year. Others make several Dream Boards that focus on one particular dream. You can make one Dream Board for each goal. Some people make a Dream Board for their family, for their athletic team, or for their organization.
