The museum holds an astounding collection of Egyptian antiquities and exhibits over, artifacts, including those from the tomb of Tutankhamun. We begin our alchemy with an inspirational sunrise visit to the Giza Plateau. During this time we greet the Sphinx, who sees all of our incarnations on this planet and who keeps safe the Hall of Records where our stories are kept. This magnificent site includes other Old Kingdom tombs, among them those that hold the earliest known hieroglyphs, the Pyramid Texts that were the model for the Egyptian Book of the Dead. It has been home for more than 3, years to the living statue of the lioness goddess, Sekhmet, who will initiate us with her ray power, beauty, and fierce compassion along with her companion, Ptah, a god who speaks creation into existence and their son, Nefertem, the Blue Lotus. This morning we head out early to travel by luxury bus to the temple at Abydos, dedicated to Osiris, and housing the nine great beings the Ennead. This temple rests next to and above the most ancient Osirion, one of the premier power places on the planet. It includes a more recent temple built by Seti I, which contains the most beautiful bas-reliefs of any temple in Egypt. Next we go to Dendera to visit the exquisite temple Page 1

On the rooftop where Hathor priests and priestesses gathered for their celebrations thousands of years ago, we reconnect to our destinies. This morning we make a sunrise pilgrimage to Deir el Bahari, the funerary temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut. A stop to see some authentic handmade statuary. For a black person born into the projects consistently living among examples of poor choices and media caricatures of black capacity this message of empowerment could provide a reasonable alternative path from what he knows. Browder does an excellent job of building a narrative of empowerment by using history, astrology, and etymology to advocate a doctrine of personal and collective responsibility. You could call it a selective reading of history and un-objective. However, focusing on the faults of the book misses the point behind the books purpose and how it makes for compelling reading. Unlike scientific discoveries, which are discoveries independent of the people discovering, cultures are created by groups of people that practice the culture into existence.
