Family of the Month May 2014 Kevin and Melissa Mahoney The Mahoney family worked hard this past year in many parish and council related activities. Brother Kevin and his wife Melissa work hard as Stewardship Committee Leaders and active participants in one of the major goal areas of the Parish, predominantly as the Ministry Coordinators for all the parish Ministry Teams. They were involved in planning and executing the second Faith in Action Exposition event which consisted of each ministry being represented after a Saturday mass, with booths set up with the chairs of all the parish ministries. The booths consisted of displays, information booklets, and signup lists to recruit new ministry members to work in several project areas to expand the ministry missions. Kevin has become very involved in Council activities, even though his tenure with the KOC Council has only reached less than a two year period. He volunteered to take on the position as the Council recorder for another year, as well as taking on the most difficult position in the Bingo Fund Raiser as a Caller. n the School Community area, Kevin volunteers his efforts to serve as the middle youth Basketball Coach and supporting a Weekend Church league. He also serves as a chaperone for school activities and field trips such as the Swim with the Manatees program at Crystal River, Florida. Melissa is the school nurse at their son s school, and is also an active member of the Parish Filipino Community. She helps in the monthly church fundraiser dinners sponsored by the Filipino Women with the fund handling assignment at the door and assisting in the set-up, tear-down, and cleaning during the activity. This activity contributed towards the raising of over $2k for charity. They both also assisted with preparing food for dinner following 2nd and 3rd Degree exemplification ceremony. Their sons Kammrin and Dominic are both active, experienced altar servers for the Parish. n the School Community area, Kevin volunteers his efforts to serve as the middle youth and supporting a Weekend Church league. He also serves as a chaperone for school activities and field trips when needed. Kammrin and Dominic are both also involved in the sports programs at Rocky Bayou Middle School and participate in concert band as a trombone and trumpet player (respectively). Brother Kevin and Melissa, and their children demonstrate through hard work their Christian values and the KOC principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Knight of the Month May 2014 Mark Williams Although Brother Mark is relatively a newcomer attendee to our Council (less than two years), he is a very conscientious supporter of our programs and can often be found participating in numerous Council and Parish activities. Brother Mark is ready to answer the call of the Grand Knight when volunteers for any activity are called for. He is planning to become an active and consistent substitute member of the Knight s Pasta Team, serving his role a helper in the setup and teardown for the event, and serving the drinks to the Pasta customers. The monthly event has become a model of success, and usually collects over five thousand dollars a year in support of such programs as Life ncorporated. This activity has attracted dozens of interested volunteers such as Mark, allowing several designated teams to take turns in supporting the preparation and serving of the dinners, as well as the cleaning up of the Parish Hall after each dinner. t has also provided members of the parish with an excellent dinner on Saturday nights

at a very reasonable cost, and typically 80-100 people show up for the monthly dinners. He also plans this coming fraternal year to serve as an officer in the Council as the Warden. He plans to participate in most of our annual activities such as the Handicapped Citizens Drive and Sunland events. He and the other volunteers will work at store entrances in the Niceville area and collect contribution, while handing out a vast quantity of donated tootsie rolls to the contributors. He currently works as the lead nformation Technology Administrator for the Eglin AFB Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) School House, and is using his T skills to maintain the Council s website to keep members aware of the various activities planned for the Council. He is an active participant in supporting the yearly Memorial Ceremony honoring those EOD combat personnel whom have given their lives while protecting our soldiers from the ED bomb threats in the war theaters. He attends all the bi-monthly Rosaries sponsored at the church by the Council. The support of knights such as Mark help form the backbone of today s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus charitable activities.
