The Church at Litchfield Park A house of prayer for all people, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God 1

WE HAVE GATHERED AS A FAMILY OF FAITH Fifth Sunday of Easter May 14, 2017 8:00 a.m. The Church at Litchfield Park, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God, welcomes everyone who comes to the doors of this House of Prayer for all People. CHIMES PRELUDE Choral Prelude J.S. Bach WELCOME, REGISTRATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS PASTORAL PRAYER LORD S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP In Moments Like These David Graham HYMN Great Is Thy Faithfulness No. 139 (Verse 1) ANTHEM Take My Life Craig Courtney SCRIPTURE READING John 14: 1-14 (NIV) L: The Word of the Lord. (Page 3) P: Thanks be to God. SERMON Rev. Dale L. Hopely, Jr. HYMN A Mighty Fortress Is Our God No. 151 (Verses 1 & 2) OFFERTORY I Come to the Garden arr. Weber 2

DOXOLOGY No. 815 A Mighty Fortress Is Our God No. 151 That word above all earthly pow rs, No thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours Thro Him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also- The body they may kill; God s truth abideth still: His kingdom is forever. BENEDICTION POSTLUDE Are You Washed in the Blood? Traditional John 14: 1-14 (NIV) Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. Thomas said to him, Lord, we don t know where you are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. Philip said, Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us. Jesus answered: Don t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, Show us the Father? Don t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. CONGREGATION PLEASE STAND (AS YOU ARE ABLE) Assisted Hearing devices and large print hymnals and bulletins are available for use during services. Please contact an usher if you would like to use one of these. 3

WE HAVE GATHERED AS A FAMILY OF FAITH Fifth Sunday of Easter May 14, 2017 9:15 a.m. The Church at Litchfield Park, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God, welcomes everyone who comes to the doors of this House of Prayer for all People. CHIMES PRELUDE Choral Prelude J.S. Bach BRINGING IN THE LIGHT WELCOME, REGISTRATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP In Moments Like These David Graham CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 27) L: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? P: The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? L: One thing I asked of the LORD, to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. P: I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! Amen. HYMN Great Is Thy Faithfulness No. 139 (Verse 1) CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY (In Unison) Dear Lord, You have promised us that we will dwell with you forever. Remind us that the beauty of where you are is not the size of the dwelling place but that the splendor of heaven comes from you. Help us to understand that through the gift of your Holy Spirit inside us, we can dwell with you here and now! Amen. L: Let us now pray together the prayer that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us: 4

P: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
