Jesus replied, Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me. As John s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings palaces. Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you. Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. P: Freedom for all is a gift from God who created all people with free will and the curiosity to search for life s meaning. L: As we see many in our world who have had these freedoms taken away, we ask God to help them in their struggle. P: May we remember to be grateful for our freedom this Independence Day and to work and pray for the day when all people are free to worship God as they choose. 7 Announcements for June 25, 2017 Take time to check out what s happening New Life Center Men s Fellowship 4 th of July Bowling for Charity Youth Mission Opportunity Wall of Military Service Pulse & Ignite Youth Groups Women s Fellowship Thank You Life Inventory Welcome Booth NEW LIFE CENTER The New Life Center is one of the missions our church sponsors. They offer shelter, safety and services to families seeking independent, violence-free lives. Circle 3 is asking for donations of the following items during the month of July. Beach towels, sun tan lotion, women s Afro hair care products, shampoo and conditioner. You may bring them with you to church and leave them in the breezeway on the table marked NLC summer mission, or leave them in the church office. For this project, Circle 3 is requesting full sized items. JULY 4 TH On Tuesday, July 4, stop by the front of the church starting at 5:30 p.m. for a hotdog, snow cone, water, or ice cream treat. Pulse youth group, Ignite youth group, and Boy Scout Troop #99 will be working together to raise money for their many activities throughout the year. YOUTH MISSION OPPORTUNITY All youth are invited to serve at Hope s Closet on Saturday, July 8, from 9:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. We will be helping out this ministry in any way we can. Permission slips are available in the breezeway. Please see Pastor Kerri if you have any questions. 7

8 PULSE AND IGNITE We will meet tonight in Souers Hall from 5:00 6:30 p.m.; if you want to join in a jam session, bring your musical instruments and come from 4:00 5:00 p.m. to share your talents! All students going into 6 th 12 th grades are invited. Youth groups will not be meeting Sunday, July 16 or Sunday, July 23. THANK YOU Thank you to the many hands and prayers that helped make the mission week for the 4 5 th graders a success. You modeled hearts of love and service that was repeated by the kids each day. Please take a look at the website and check out the many ways in which the kids served this past week. MEN S FELLOWSHIP All the men of the church are invited to meet at 7:00 a.m. in Souers Hall on Saturday, July 8. The purpose of the group is to grow closer to God and each other so that we may be used to do God s will. The meeting will include a delicious breakfast and fellowship. So that we may provide adequate food, we are asking that you sign up in the breezeway between services. For more information, please contact the church at (623) or info@churchatlitchfieldpark.org. BOWLING FOR CHARITY Stay out of the heat, fellowship, help a charity, and compete for prizes! Men s Fellowship is sponsoring a bowling night on Monday, July 24, from 5:30 8:00 p.m. at Uptown Alley in Surprise. Men, women, and children are welcome. Cost is $9 per person for shoes and 2 games of bowling. $2 from each play goes to charity and $1 will be donated to charity per strike thrown by our group. Food and fountain drinks will be 15% off. Prizes will be given for best individual, best team, and best 12 and under score for the two games. Sign up is not necessary but be sure to mention The Church at Litchfield Park when you pay at the alley. We hope to see you there! 8

9 WALL OF MILITARY SERVICE The Col. John Scotty Clarke Wall of Military Service is a monument given to the church by Isabel Clarke in honor of her late husband. The wall offers an opportunity for church members and their immediate families, living and deceased, to be recognized for their service in the U.S. Armed Forces. The monument is located on the west wall of the Garden of Memories expansion. A brochure explaining how to honor a family member will be available in the church office during the week. All proceeds from plaque sales will be used to maintain the Garden of Memories. WOMEN S FELLOWSHIP Interested in attending a Circle 6 event? We meet monthly on Saturday mornings at the home of Crissie Jameson in Litchfield Park. The next meeting is at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22. Snacks will be provided. Contact Crissie at (623) or crissiemjameson@gmail.com. LIFE INVENTORY SHEETS Our Christian faith assures us that death leads to eternal life with God. Meanwhile, family members, friends, and the pastors are sometimes in need of certain information that if available, could help them deal more appropriately with the grief and death of a loved one. The church office has Life Inventory Sheets that can assist your family during that time. If you would like a form to fill out, please contact the office at (623) or info@churchatlitchfieldpark.org. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR WELCOME BOOTH The Welcome Booth in the breezeway outside Souers Hall needs volunteers to help greet people who come to our church for the first time and to say hello to all in the breezeway. No experience is necessary. All you need to do is smile and say Welcome to our church. Volunteers help at the booth from 8:30 9:10 a.m. and then again from 10:15 10:40 a.m. This is an excellent way to meet new people and make many acquaintances. It is a perfect volunteer opportunity for anyone. If you would like to help, please sign up in Souers Hall or contact Nana Hamlin at edandnana@msn.com or call the church office at (623)
