Third Sunday of Advent Page 2 Third Sunday of Advent December 13, 2015 With joy you will draw water at the fountain of salvation. Isaiah 12:3 CELEBRATE This Sunday, God rejoices and sings because of us. We read in Zephaniah today that God will sing joyfully because of you, / as one sings at festivals (Zephaniah 3:18). We know plenty about singing at festivals. Already our ears are ringing with the songs and carols that anticipate the Christmas season. Paul reminds us of the source of our own double rejoicing: God is the mighty savior who is in our midst (in Zephaniah s words). Because this is so, says Paul, we can rejoice and be at ease. We don t have to worry, for God s peace will stand guard over our hearts and minds. A medieval carol depicts Christmas as my dancing day and urges us to enter into the dance. Why all the merrymaking? Because the Lord is near, as Paul reminds us (Philippians 4:5). He then points to another reason for the dancing: the dawn of the promise of peace, the peace beyond all understanding, that is now within our grasp. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Third Sunday of Advent Page 4 OUR CATHOLIC FAITH At the beginning of our R.C.I.A. class this year, I asked those who are traveling with us to Easter and beyond, Why are you taking this class? To a person they answered, The Mass and the Holy Spirit. They all had been to Mass with friends and loved ones. They wanted to receive Christ. Most mornings during Advent there are over twenty parishioners at the 6:30am Mass. Fr. Roland also told me that the 8:30am Mass is nearly always full. Thank you. The energy, by your presence and prayers, carries us and lifts us up as priests. The Love of the Presence of Christ in the Mass is the greatest gift my parents have given me. Here I come to be nourished and fed. After spending that hour ( Can you not watch one hour with me? ), I can see more clearly the path I should follow. Thanks is the gift that pleases God. His kingdom is open and inclusive. Please God, as we attend Mass prayerfully and thankfully, we will live that same breath of vision and generosity that Christ became man for...... Over two thousand years ago. Attending Mass should never be A have to, but, A want to. I should want to go to Mass because Christ shares Himself totally with me. I have one request of all of you.... When you return to your pew, please, for a few minutes visit with Christ Our Savior. (Please don t leave before the priest.) That God was Man in Palestine and lives today in Bread and Wine. (Gilbert Keith Chesterton) God Bless, Fr. Mike Giggles: Did you hear about the dial-a-prayer service for Atheists? You call up, it rings and rings, but nobody answers. A man walked into a car showroom and said to the sales manager, My wife wants to talk To you about the Cadillac in the window. The sales manager looked puzzled and said, We don t have a Cadillac in the window. The man said, You do now. At the beginning of the year, politicians promised things would improve by the last quarter. Well, I m down to my last quarter and things haven t improved. A Monastery was inhabited by Monks who communicated with each other solely by chanting. Every morning at the assembly the Abbot would chant: Good morning, Brethren. The monks would chant back: Good morning, Father Abbot. One morning a Maverick Monk instead chanted: Good evening, Father Abbot. The Abbot was not amused. Glaring all around at the Monks, he declared: Someone chanted evening. Money talks. It says Goodbye.

Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
