Second Sunday of Lent Page 2 Second Sunday of Lent February 21, 2016 The L is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? Psalm 27:1 WE ARE TO BE TRANSFORMED Today s showing forth of God s glory is filled with a light that astonishes and reveals. Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor energizes even the sleepy apostles, who see but cannot get hold of it. They can be forgiven for not apprehending the full meaning of this extraordinary vision of a transfigured Jesus with Elijah and Moses. The whole of the Law and prophets is summed up here on this mountain. The transfiguration on Mount Tabor is handed over to us this Sunday. As Paul reminds us, it is we who are to be transformed. The light and life of the Resurrection are set forth here so we do not lose heart and fall entirely asleep. This Sunday looks to Easter. It looks to transformation. It asks us to lift up our heads and acknowledge the risen Lord as our light and our salvation. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Second Sunday of Lent Page 4 LENT AND DAILY MASS Daily Mass: Lent is a special season when people make a greater effort to attend daily Mass. As a child I was awakened to attend a daily Mass during Lent. It was difficult getting up early, but I learned the efficacy of prayer and the importance of the Mass in the lives of my parents and neighbors. Attending Mass, or now offering the Mass is where I feel God predominately speaks to me of His plans. I know well the plans I have in mind for you. Plans for your welfare not for your woe. Plans to bring you a future full of hope. (Jer 29:11) Today, February 17, 2016, in the gospel Christ told the leaders of Israel they were too self absorbed to change their lives.... The Mass helps us to put God first. Daily Mass allows us to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays. It helps us to reach out to God in tough times and when we cannot attend funerals we can join loved ones who are miles away, around the Altar at our Chapel. Our Mass provides us an opportunity to say thanks and to enjoy God s abiding Presence. There is a strong community at our daily Mass and this is strengthened and blessed by those who come for special occasions. So, if some morning you are free during Lent at 6:30 and 8:30am, join us for daily Mass. Discover the gift of daily Mass. God Bless, Fr. Mike ^^^^^^^ Giggles: When God gave 10 Commandments, he didn t mention amendments. A hair in the head is worth two in the brush. Dead owls don t give a hoot. Adam and Eve lived in paradise. They had no in-laws. Remember alimony is always having to say your sorry. Do you realize that Eve was the only woman who took a man s side? Did you get the check I sent you? Twice. Once from you and once from the bank. If I don t do something crazy now and then, I ll go nuts.

Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
