The Church at Litchfield Park A house of prayer for all people, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God 1

WE HAVE GATHERED AS A FAMILY OF FAITH Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost July 31, 2016 8:00 a.m. The Church at Litchfield Park, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God, welcomes everyone who comes to the doors of this House of Prayer for all People. CHIMES PRELUDE Meditation de Thais Massenet WELCOME, REGISTRATION and ANNOUNCEMENTS PASTORAL PRAYER LORD S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. HYMN When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder No. 774 (Verses 1 & 2) ANTHEM His Eye Is on the Sparrow Charles Gabriel Summer Singers SCRIPTURE READING Luke 6:32-38 L: The Word of the Lord. (Page 3) P: Thanks be to God. SERMON The Healing Power of Forgiveness Rev. Dale L. Hopely, Jr. HYMN Sweet Hour of Prayer No. 640 OFFERTORY Because He Lives Gaither 2

DOXOLOGY No. 815 When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder No. 774 Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun; let us talk of all His wondrous love and care. Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done, and the roll is called up yonder, I ll be there. When the roll is called up yonder, I ll be there. When the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, I ll be there. BENEDICTION POSTLUDE Jubilate Deo Silver LUKE 6:32-38 (NIV) If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. CONGREGATION PLEASE STAND (AS YOU ARE ABLE) Assisted Hearing devices and large print hymnals and bulletins are available for use during services. Please contact an usher if you would like to use one of these. 3

WE HAVE GATHERED AS A FAMILY OF FAITH Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost July 31, 2016 9:15 a.m. The Church at Litchfield Park, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God, welcomes everyone who comes to the doors of this House of Prayer for all People. CHIMES PRELUDE Meditation de Thais Massenet BRINGING IN THE LIGHT WELCOME, REGISTRATION and ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL TO WORSHIP L: Today we gather in the name of Jesus Christ to worship God and celebrate the forgiveness God has extended to each one of us. P: In Christ, God offers a fresh start every time we succumb to failure and selfishness; a hand up each time we fall. L: God s gift of forgiveness is grace expressed in love; a gift not given because we deserve it but because God loves us so deeply. P: Because we are forgiven so freely, may the grace and love of God manifest itself in the way we live toward others. HYMN When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder No. 774 (Verses 1 & 2) PRAYER OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Confession of the Christian Community: Merciful and gracious God, we accept and receive the forgiveness you offer to us in Christ. We open our hearts to your presence and ask you to cleanse us and make us new. As we receive your love, may we in turn offer the same kind of grace to others, even those who have wronged or hurt us. May we take what we have received from you and invest it in the lives of others that we may be partakers in your work on earth. 4

L: Let us now pray together the prayer that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us: P: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. ANTHEM His Eye Is on the Sparrow Charles Gabriel Summer Singers SCRIPTURE READING Luke 6:32-38 L: The Word of the Lord.
