Lord, I Lift Your Name on High No. 107 Lord, I lift Your name on high; Lord, I love to sing Your praises. I m so glad You re in my life; I m so glad You came to save us. You came from heaven to earth to show the way; from the earth to the cross, my debt to pay. From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky; Lord, I lift Your name on high. Copyright 1989 by Maranatha! Music. BENEDICTION POSTLUDE All Hail King Jesus Traditional MATTHEW 20:1-16 (NIV) For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard. About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. He told them, You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right. So they went. He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing? Because no one has hired us, they answered. He said to them, You also go and work in my vineyard. When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first. The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. These who were hired last worked only one hour, they said, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day. But he answered one of them, I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn t you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous? So the last will be first, and the first will be last. CONGREGATION PLEASE STAND (AS YOU ARE ABLE) **Assisted Hearing devices and large print hymnals are available for use during traditional services. Please contact an usher if you would like to use one of these. 3

Weber BRINGING IN THE LIGHT CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP Sing a New Song Praetorius/Schweizer CALL TO WORSHIP: L: Welcome, one and all, to this House of Prayer for All People. P: We have come to connect with God: to sense God s presence and to hear God s voice speak to our hearts. L: God speaks to each of us differently. Some of us are touched more deeply by music, others more profoundly by words, and others are touched simply by being surrounded by people in a beautiful sanctuary. P: However we sense God s presence, may each of us be moved to connect more closely to God and be inspired to live lives that please God. Amen. HYMN Majesty No. 10 CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Prayer of confession: (In Unison) Gracious God, we come before you understanding in our minds that you love all people equally. At the same time, we struggle to love and accept everyone. We know it is your desire for us not to be critical or judgmental toward others but to love them and accept them as they are. We ask for your forgiveness when we have failed in this way. Give us your eyes and your perspective to understand others so that we can love and accept them. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen. 4
