Third Sunday In Ordinary Time Page 2 Third Sunday in Ordinary Time January 25, 2015 The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel. Mark 1:15 CHANGE OUR LIVES In today s first reading, Jonah, sent by God to warn the people, storms through Nineveh, frightening the citizens out of their wits. It works! They repent before Jonah makes his way through a third of the city, and God sees by their actions how they have turned from evil. Then we hear Paul telling the Corinthians that the world in its present form is passing away. He calls for a change of heart. He stops short of telling them to set aside their everyday lives, but still he urges them rather mysteriously to live as though they aren t doing the things they re doing. Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, The kingdom of God is at hand! The apostles-to-be abandon their nets and follow him. Thus in all the readings we hear an invitation to a radical and immediate change in our lives. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 4 CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK This week we are celebrating Catholic Schools week. We are Blessed here in Auburn to have a Catholic School that teaches the truths of our faith. Parents are the primary teachers of their children and the home is the first classroom. Here at our parish school we support parents in their vocation as teachers of their children. We have a Catholic grade school with a tremendous history in Catholic education and we have an excellent Religious Education program to help parents teach what Christ taught us. All of our parishioners are asked to help both programs. There is a great welcoming spirit on our school campus. Our school children and staff take great pride in their school. It has been the prayer of every priest and principal that no student would ever be turned away because of a lack of finance. We are working to make this a reality. We have so many heroes when it comes to keeping our Catholic school open and thriving; our students and their parents, our finance board and our parishioners. This year I would like to say a special Thank You to our teachers who walk the extra mile for less, to share a Catholic education with our children. The latest edition of our Diocesan magazine featured Debbie Buresh on their cover. When one of our students or staff are honored, we all feel blessed. Thank you Mrs. Buresh and all our selfless staff,...... You bless us. God Bless, Fr. Mike Giggles: Lately our President went on a tour of friendly nations,.... He was back in 24 hours. Our candidate has done the work of two men,.... Frank and Jesse James. Maybe George Washington never told a lie,.... But lets not forget that back in those days they didn t have recordings. The most important thing in campaigning is sincerity,... Whether you mean it or not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In politics, after all is said and done, a lot more is said then done.

Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
