Page 2 PARISH NEWS FAITH FORMATION by Grace Lakatos LENTEN MUSES: List is a time of less, in order to have more! Lent? Give up fear. It is not the enemy who is waiting for us there; but Our Savior! He will be our companion along the way. Why do we have Lent every year? Because we didn t get it quite right last year! (Per Seminary Professor) ADULT CONFIRMATION CLASSES: Have you received Baptism and Eucharist but not Confirmation? A 6 week course preparing adults for Confirmation will begin following the celebration of Easter. The one night a week programs meets at St. Kateri and is open to all Catholics wishing to complete this Sacrament. If you or someone you know wishes more information, please contact the Faith Formation Director in the parish office. TOWEL SUNDAY: Our collection this year will once again be donated to Nativity of Our Lord parish, Freedom House and Workers House. The items most needed are towels (hand & bath), washcloths, baby hooded towels and baby washcloths, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, baby diapers and baby wipes, sheets & pillowcases (twin bed size only, and incontinence products. CLASSES: Faith Formation classes will meet Saturday, February 17th beginning with the 4 PM Mass. Sacramental Preparation classes will meet next on Monday, February 19th at 6 PM. JPII GIFT AND BOOK SHOP NEWS By Pat Urban & Barb Cataldo Lent begins on Wednesday, February 14th this year. Many of us were taught that giving something up was the only spiritual practice to perform during the Lenten season. However, we can also think more positively by adding things during Lent such as acts of charity, words of kindness, taking better care of ourselves, volunteer work, extra prayers and spiritual reading. The Gift and Book Shop carries both classic and more contemporary spiritual books that can deepen your relationship with God and enhance your Lenten experience. Think about setting aside some time each day during Lent to read about God s love for you. What could be more positive than that? The Shop will be open each Friday during Lent from 11 AM to 2 PM in addition to our weekend hours before and after Masses. Come in and browse! TIME FOR EASTER FLOWER TRIBUTE Once again it is time to honor your living and deceased family and friends for Easter. You may use the form inserted in this week s bulletin or the envelope in your church packet. PLEASE print all names clearly. We are beginning this tribute early this time so all names will be able to appear in the Easter bulletin and not published at a later date. We suggest $5 per name, but all donations are appreciated. The deadline date is March 12th. Because Liturgical Press closes for the holiday, this deadline is very important. We appreciate your clarity and your timeliness. Thank you. LITTLE BLACK BOOKS Our Lenten books have arrived and are available in the Vestibules, Gift Shop or the Parish Office. These 6 minute reflections on the Passion according to Mark aid us in reflection and homage during Lent. The books are available for a donation of $1, a small price to offer for such rewarding meditation.
