Field Agent s Report Worthy Field Agent Dave Peterson passed out an information page that indicated how much the Knights of Columbus has paid out in Free Family Benefits; over $12,000,000 for accidental death, still bon children and infants that have died right after birth. All Insurance members and their wives are covered by this free accidental death benefit. Dave further stated that profits from the insurance business are given to charity; one of Fr. McGivney s founding principles of the order. He also said that the members receive some very attractive dividend rates on their investments with the Knights of Columbus Insurance program. Please contact Dave to have him sit down with you and your wife to review and discuss your insurance needs. He can be reached at: 847-691-1625 (M) & 847-394-0049 (H) Page 6 of 8

Former Supreme Secretary Former Supreme Secretary, Charlie Foos, talked to the new members about Fr. McGivney and the Fr. McGivney Guild. He said that Fr. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882 with just 10 members to protect the Catholic immigrants in his parish from discrimination that was being waged on the Catholics. Today, there are 1.8 million members of the Knights. As a result, the Knights of Columbus have taken up the cause for Fr. McGivney to be named a saint. Three steps in the process to become a saint. The first step is to determine the holiness of the individual and Fr. McGivney has been declared Venerable. The next step is Blessed, where a miracle directly attributable to the individual is needed. The Knights have presented a miracle to Rome and we are waiting to see how the ruling goes. Once Fr. McGivney is declared blessed, a second miracle is needed for him to be declared a saint. No U.S. native born parish priest has ever been declared a saint. Charlie urged all the new members as well as everyone in the Council to join the Fr. McGivney Guild and be part of history as Fr. McGivney s cause progresses. Pray to Fr. McGivney to intercede on your behalf. Trustee s Report Worthy Trustee Jack Landers, speaking for the Trustees said that the Trustees had examined all the vouchers that were presented and found them to be in order; they were signed and passed back to the Treasurer for payment. Unfinished Business This was no unfinished business to report. New Business No new business. Chaplain s Report There is no report this meeting. Prayer Intensions: Please remember to keep the following in your prayers: Fr. Ray Yadron, Ron Sowizrol, Bob Heimlich, Bob Shonta, Paul Pasko, Jim Borowick, Ernie Favaro, Phil Polizzi, John Englbrecth, Deacon Tom Maloney. Calendar of Events The Calendar of Events has been finalized for the year. It will be published at the end of the Knightly News and will be updated every month as events occur or change or we add new events. Please let the Grand Knight of any additions or corrections. Directory Please send all corrections (Addresses, email addresses, phone #s, etc.) to Deacon John Breit so that we can keep the directory as accurate as we can.
