Announcements for February 23, 2014 Take time to check out what s happening Annual Meeting Choirs and D backs Children in Church Scholarships Confirmation Classes Women s Retreat Thrift Shop Women s Fellowship Missions Homeless Youth Connection Gala TODAY The church s annual meeting, when we elect new officers and vote on the budget, is TODAY at 11:45 a.m. in Souers Hall. The meeting is open to everyone, but only church members will be able to vote. Your attendance is important in the planning for the future of our church, and a quorum of the congregation is needed. The 2013 Annual Report is available from an usher or during the week from the church office. Today there is no Sunday school in order for children to enjoy the youth service. 6

CONFIRMATION CLASSES BEGIN Confirmation classes will begin Thursday, February 27 th, from 6:30 7:30 p.m. Confirmation is the process where youth in eighth grade (age 13) or older learn about the Christian faith and make an intentional commitment to give their lives to the Lord. Following confirmation studies, youth are received into membership in the church. Confirmation will also include baptism for those who have not previously been baptized. Confirmation class dates will be February 27, March 6, 20, and 27, and April 3 and 10. The confirmation celebration will be part of our Palm Sunday service on April 13. Please sign up in Souers Hall if you are interested. If you have any questions, please see Pastor Kerri. GOLF TOURNAMENT The Pulse youth group golf tournament is coming! This year s event will include a Friday night dinner on May 16 th along with the golf tournament on Saturday, May 17 th. If you would like to help with this fundraiser, please sign up in Souers Hall after the service. WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS Regular Wednesday night programs continue. Dinner this week will be lasagna, salad, rolls and Italian ices. Programs include G.O. Kids Rec. Room, G.O. Kids, 4C Joyful Noise, 4C Chimin In, 4C V.I.P., Chancel Choir, Heavenly Handbells, CLP Café, and Bible Study. See the weekly calendar for times and locations. W.C.S.F. THRIFT SHOP The Women s Christian Service Fellowship Thrift Shop will be open on Saturday, March 1 st, from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monies raised are used to fund various W.C.S.F. projects, missions and ministries. Donations that are clean and in working order are always welcome. Donations may be dropped off Friday, February 28 th, from 8:30 11:00 a.m., or you may schedule an appointment by contacting Monica Sproull (623) 935-2656 or Millie Ezell (623) 935-3953. 7

MISSIONS Feed My Starving Children in Tempe is a Christian non-profit organization committed to feeding hungry children in Body and Spirit. Come volunteer with us on Saturday, March 8 th, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Children and adults hand pack Manna Packs formulated for malnourished children. CHOIRS PERFORM AT D BACKS GAME The Diamondbacks and The Church at Litchfield Park invite you to bring your family and friends to the game on Sunday, April 27 th, against the Philadelphia Phillies. All attendees will receive a special discount on tickets. The combined adult and children s choirs of the church will perform the National Anthem on the field prior to the game. The performance will also be highlighted on DBTV. Diamond Level, Club Box seats in Sections 206-209 and 211-214 are $50 each, and these seats include $5 in D- bucks. Lower Level, Baseline Reserve seats in Sections 109-111 and 133-135 are $25 each. Sign up in Souers Hall for this fun day at the park. Deadline to turn in money for your tickets is Friday, April 4 th. Make checks payable to The Church at Litchfield Park, and write D Backs in the memo line. THE CHURCH AT LITCHFIELD PARK SCHOLARSHIPS High School Seniors If college is in your future and you could use some financial assistance, it s time to apply for The Church at Litchfield Park Scholarship. Women s Christian Service Fellowship (W.C.S.F.) will award a total of three $1,000 scholarships. One is reserved for an applicant whose family has been a member of The Church at Litchfield Park for at least one year. The other two are open to any graduate from the Agua Fria Union High School District. Applications are available in Souers Hall today, from the church office during the week, or at your high school career center. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 21, 2014. ATTENTION ALL WOMEN! The W.C.S.F. Women s Retreat, Aligning Our Hearts with God, will be April 4 th 5 th at the Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites in Avondale. The goal of this retreat is to seek knowledge in self-love and understanding, growth in the knowledge and love of God, and ways to love and serve in the community. We always have great fellowship with our sisters in Christ, and it is a great time to relax, have fun and make new friends. The cost of the retreat is $100 with a $50 deposit required at the time of registration. Sign up in Souers Hall today through March 2 nd. Scholarships are available; inquire at the registration table. WOMEN S FELLOWSHIP Circle 5 Circle 5 will meet Thursday, February 27 th, at 6:30 p.m. at Old Pueblo Café, 102 North Old Litchfield Rd., just south of the church. We are having a Brown Bag Shower to collect feminine hygiene products for the teen girls at Homeless Youth connection. Circle 2 Grab a friend and plan to attend a Spring Style Show, hosted by Circle 2 at Draper s and Damon s, 15446 N 99 th Ave, Sun City (northwest corner of Greenway & 99 th Ave) on Thursday, March 20 th, at 11:00 a.m. A light luncheon will follow the style show, but tickets are limited to the first 50 attendees, so don t delay! All this for just $20 per ticket! Proceeds from this fundraiser will support the service projects of Circle 2, which include the Open Arms Orphanage, the Homeless Youth Connection and our Christmas families. Tickets can be purchased today after either the 8:00 a.m. or 9:15 a.m. service in Souers Hall. HYC GALA EVENT Homeless Youth Connection is holding its third annual Key to Hope event on Saturday, April 12 th. The event will be held at the Tuscany Falls ballroom in Pebble Creek from 5:30 to 11:00 p.m. Table tickets are $1,000 for a table ($100 each space) and individual tickets are $75 each. Please see sign-up sheets in Souers Hall through March 2 nd. You may reserve space at a table for $100 per person or an open seating space for $75 each. 9
