Deadline for bringing in the gifts will be December 16 th. THANK YOU Mrs. Isabel Dominguez would like to convey a message of heartfelt thanks for all the thoughtfulness, care, visits, cards, phone calls and most of all prayers from the Fil-Am Club members, parishioners and friends. It is Mexico's most beloved religious and cultural image. Our Lady of Guadalupe is known in Mexico as "La Virgen Morena", which means "The brown-skinned Virgin". Guadalupe's feast day is celebrated on December 12, commemorating the traditional account of her appearances to Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin on the hill of Tepeyac near Mexico City from December 9, 1531 through December 12, 1531. The Virgin of Guadalupe is a cultural symbol of significant importance to the Mexican identity. Mexican Catholics believe that Guadalupe was a manifestation of the Virgin Mary in the Americas. VOCATIONS CORNER Do you ever think God has a plan for you that you haven t quite connected with? Could you imagine to be called to spread the Gospel? We are men and women who have freely chosen to live a life of love in faith and trust as disciples of Jesus. We call one another to a contemplative stance and direct ministry in the Church with an option for the poor. Called to love and to give in service, we show our love, through celibate life that enables us to give with generosity and in a selfless way as Jesus did. What are you doing with God s love? What is your response to you inner call? The doors are opened even for you! Listen attentively! WELCOME TO HOLY NAME OF JESUS PARISH, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA Page 6 HOLY NAME SCHOOL Dear Holy Name Parent, This has been an amazing week for our Holy Name family, sad in some ways and joyful in others. We offer our love and prayer for Mrs. Cavallero, our kindergarten aide, whose father, James Kane, was called home to God on Saturday. We also offer prayers for her husband s mother, Geraldine Cavallero who is seriously ill in the hospital. Further prayers, please for Eleanor Mixsell, motherin-law of our 4 th grade teacher, Mrs. Mixsell, who is also in the hospital after a fall. We do have many things to celebrate as well. First, congratulations are extended to Mrs. Chiolo, our Kindergarten teacher, on the marriage of her daughter Diane (class of 96) last Saturday. Many blessings are extended to the happy couple for a long life of love and joy. Huge thanks are extended to our wonderful Alcira for her vision of moving Extended Care to the school building to better accommodate the needs of our children, as we adjust to provide space for our new tenant and make room for our library. She has been tireless is organizing space as we together explored all the nooks and crannies of our downstairs to find suitable storage for our great Extended Care program. In addition, a million thanks are extended to all of the great parents who came to help with the big move on Sunday: families of Sam & Anzsia Bowen, Emma & Sean Gleavy, Hope & Faith Giron, Katrina & Isabella Alcaraz and John Gill. Thanks to Austin & Garrett Thompson s mom for donating two chairs and a rug. We also thank Vince DeLucca and Diane Preble for giving of your time as well. Wish List: If you have a carpet company or know anyone who does, we are looking for some area carpeting for the cafeteria and our Extended Care children. Call the school office if you can help or if you have any ideas for us. Library News and Help Needed: We had the carpet cleaned on Monday and the next step in our plans is the painting of the Assembly Room. Mr. Sergio Herrera, (father of Omar 4A) is a professional painter and will be painting this Saturday, Dec. 8, beginning at 8 a.m. A few of the great guys from the Men s Club will be helping, but more workers are needed. Please join them for this beautification project. It will have the room looking sparkling new for the move in of the library. Thanks also to all the super set up helpers, servers and cleaneruppers who helped with Saturday s Crab Bash. It was a wonderful evening enjoyed by all who attended. It couldn t have happened without your great help. Special thanks and congratulations to our 8 th graders, who did an absolutely fabulous job serving our guests. They received a lovely thank you from all in attendance by way of $800 in tips. This money will go toward their year-end 8 th grade activities. It is so lovely that they have had a hand in earnings towards these events. They should be very proud. We certainly are. Blessings, Ann Meyers Manchester, Ed.D.
