Almighty God, Sustainer of Life, by your angel s hand you gave Elijah bread to be the food that sustained him on the journey to your holy mountain. In Jesus you give us the living bread for the life of the world, our food for the journey to your kingdom and forgiveness. Keep us faithful to your commandments so that we might come to that banquet of life immortal. Amen. August 9, 2015

It has been three weeks and I am able to start bearing weight on my foot for a limited time as I can tolerate it. I've been trying to keep some office hours a couple times a week so as not to get too far behind on mail, but mainly I ve been working from my phone and appointments in the rectory. I was hoping to be placed in a boot today but alas it was not to be. I am in a hard cast for another three weeks and then will be placed in a walking boot for an additional six weeks, so no driving for three months! Being a male and used to my independence, this has been a journey of coming to understand the true dependence we have upon one another whether we like to admit it or not. I am not one who likes to ask for help...a growing edge in my life that I am being forced to address physically, emotionally and spiritually. My mother has been a saint in these past weeks...she truly is a remarkable woman of stamina and patience. She has trimmed the rectory bushes, weeded the backyard flower beds, washed the rectory windows inside and out and kept me on a diet of salads, fruits, and of course fried chicken for me and my twin brother's birthday! My gratitude to the many offers for assistance, the get well cards and expressions of love from many of you. I will be back, hopefully, in a week or so as my foot will allow. I miss you all and hope you are enjoying the new construction as we ease into its use these coming weeks. Bless you all! Fr. Keith

The St. Ann Auction Committee is looking for donations for the Fall Festival that will be held this year on October 3, 2015. We would love any gift certificates, event tickets, items from local businesses, special services, or anything else you would like to contribute. If you have any questions, please contact Janine Reintjes at janinereintjes@yahoo.com or Brooke Santa at brookesanta@gmail.com. Thank you! There will be a Support the Troops Meeting, Tuesday, August 11 th, from 9:00 to 11:00 at the home of Suzanne Mogren, 3101 W. 75th St. We are touched in this ministry by so many generous hearts who remember the troops, particularly those of you who month after month drop off or send donations, or come to help us pack. Your faithfulness to reaching out to our troops across the globe is awesome. There was one of our younger Veterans that was so taken by the 25 packages we mailed in July as he was standing in line at the post office that he handed us a generous check because he remembered what packages meant to him when he was overseas. It was another reminder to us of how important it is to keep our mission alive. See you on August 11 th. Any questions call Suzanne 649-2824 or Kathy 709-3277. Do you plan to volunteer with kids? Please Read... The archdiocese requires all adults who work and/or volunteer around children to complete VIRTUS training. In order to keep our children as safe as we can, the program requires adults to complete a training session and submit to a background check. So, whether you are coaching, teaching, or volunteering, you MUST be VIRTUS-certified BEFORE you participate. If you have attended a training session, you can check your status online at virtus.org. If you have NOT been trained yet, please check our website or go to virtus.org and click on registration to find a training session that fits your schedule. You can attend a VIRTUS session anywhere in the archdiocese. Several parishes have sessions scheduled for the beginning of August. St. Ann is hosting a VIRTUS training session September 9 th, from 6-9 pm. Please visit virtus.org to register. Email Stephanie Meeker at smeeker@stannpv.org if you have any questions. We really appreciate our volunteers! Thanks for helping keep our children safe! 50 Year Class Reunion Bishop Miege Class of 1965 September 12, 2015 Contact: www.rjmeitner.com, 913-266-5420 Reservations Required Are you a Catholic doctor or do you know a Catholic doctor battling recent dramatic changes in healthcare?
