Then please remove sheet and place in the offering plate when it is passed. Lighting of the Advent Candle Bowers & West families Hymn #102 Savior of the Nations, Come (v.1) NUN KOMM, DER HEIDEN HEILAND Call to Worship Savior of the nations, come; virgin s son, make here your home. Marvel now, O heaven and earth, that the Lord chose such a birth. Isaiah spoke to a people called chosen, to a tribe called Israel, with a light of hope. Gabriel came to a town called Nazareth, to a girl called Mary, with a light of joy. Mary went to a place called Bethlehem, to a stable called a nursery, with a light of love. As we light our fourth Advent candle, we rejoice with Mary, for Love has flesh. Come now, O Child of Mary. Come now, O Prince of Love. *Hymn #88 O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (verses 1, 5, 6, & 7) VENI EMMANUEL *Prayer of Confession Karen Kay Living God, You beckon us to wake from our sleep: to open our eyes to the goodness of your reign, the injustice of our world, and the gap in between. You call us to follow in the path of your love. Forgive us, O God, when we choose the easy way. Forgive us, O God, when we choose the selfish way, the fast way, the successful way, the nice way, the friendly way, the comfortable way. Convict us, awaken us, empower us, and enliven us to follow the Way of justice and love. Hear now our silent prayers of confession...

*Period of Silent Prayer In our Savior s name we pray. Amen. *Assurance of Pardon Karen Kay Hear the good news: In Christ you are forgiven, your sins have been redeemed. We can declare with confidence: we are forgiven. *Congregational Response #132 Good Christian Friends, Rejoice (v. 3) IN DULCI JUBILO Good Christian friends, rejoice with heart and soul and voice; now ye need not fear the grave: Jesus Christ was born to save! Sermon When Love Takes Over Amanda Hines Invitation to Discipleship To speak with someone about becoming a Christian, church membership, or a special prayer need, please go to the parlor following this service. The parlor is to the right of the fellowship hall. *Affirmation of Faith Apostles Creed (ecumenical) I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *Hymn #100 My Soul Cries Out with a Joyful Shout STAR OF THE COUNTY DOWN

Prayers of the People and the Lord s Prayer (using sins and sin) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. The Offering Offertory Blest Be the God of Israel MERLE S TUNE *Doxology with Alleluias LASST UNS ERFREUEN Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ all people here below; Alleluia!
