A NOTE FROM FATHER Dear Parishioners, Welcome to Fr. Bruno who is here with us this weekend as I am at the Fall Youth Retreat. This week is Thanksgiving, of course. While not a Catholic Holy Day, there is still something profoundly Catholic about it. The history of Thanksgiving was the recognition that the pilgrims had both a difficult time, and yet they felt the Lord s care. They declared a feast of thanksgiving. A similar feeling was present in the hearts of the first Spanish priests and explorers some years earlier who celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving. Even yet today, we need to thank God for all that we have. While it is true that every Mass is an act of thanksgiving (which is exactly what Eucharist means), we sometimes forget. So having this specific day to remind us is a beautiful thing. You will note that I am offering Mass on Thanksgiving Morning at 9. We are also invited to the Ecumenical Prayer service at 7 pm which will be held at Union Presbyterian. I hope, even if neither of these formal opportunities are convenient, that we all take time to at least offer the Lord a few moments of thanksgiving. In Christ, Fr.
