This Week in our Parish Sun, Dec 23 Mon, Dec 24 Tues, Dec 25 Wed, Dec 26 Thurs, Dec 27 Fri, Dec 28 Sat, Dec 29 Sun, Dec 30 8:45 am 9 am-10 pm 8:45 am 9 am-6 pm Parish Office closed Parish Office closed Scam Please be aware! Prayer for Vocations, Chapel Eucharistic Adoration, Chapel Church Cleaning-Jane Showalter, Mary Andres, Joanne Henley, Dee O Malley, Judy Vohs Adoration, Chapel Over the past several months, fake emails have been sent out to parishioners stating they are from our Pastor and in most cases asking for gift card. Many other parishes in the area have experienced the same. Please disregard these emails! We have been made aware that someone is impersonating cell phone numbers from Father Craig in a text spoof scam. The unknown party is sending requests out for gift cards. Please do not respond to message requests for gift cards from a text message. Please disregard any request via email or text asking for assistance. If you have questions contact the parish office. Required Minimum Distributions IRS rules mandate that individuals age 70 ½ and older take required minimum distributions (RMDs) from their regular IRA/401(k) accounts each year, whether or not the income is needed. These distributions are subject to income taxes. However, are you aware you can make a charitable contribution to St. Ann directly from your IRA to satisfy your RMD without having to report the additional income? This strategy may be especially attractive for retirees who do not need all the income from their IRA to meet living expenses. By donating to St. Ann through your IRA, you can support St. Ann while effectively lowering your tax bill. As always, you should discuss this strategy with your tax advisor. Year End Giving As the end of the year approaches, you may wish to share your blessings by making a year-end cash or stock gift. If you have any questions regarding stock gifts or year-end giving in general, please contact Bill Schafer at (913) 660-1128 or bschafer@stannpv.org. All contributions must be received or postmarked by December 31, 2018 in order to qualify as a 2018 tax deduction. St. Ann School News Serving Others During the Holidays St. Ann serves every 4th Monday of the month and consistently serves more than any other organization volunteering at the food kitchen. Our next opportunity to serve our hungry guests at the food kitchen in Kansas City, Kansas is this Monday, December 24th. We need boneless hams (they will be sliced at the food kitchen), as well as au gratin potatoes (3 boxes to a pan), and fresh and canned fruit. Your donations of these items would be greatly appreciated, as would your offer to come and help serve! Bring donations to the north parking lot between 8:30 and 10 am on Monday. If you have questions, or need a ride, please call Rosie Bohan at 913-722-5109. Heavenly Dusters Would you like a quick and easy way to volunteer? Why not clean the church once a month? Light cleaning is all that is required! Volunteers are needed on Fridays as well as on the fifth Thursdays throughout the year. This past fifth Thursday Alysha Jackson, Marsha Chezek, Mary Jean Podrebarac, Becky Needham, Loretta Hayes, Gena Arvin and Marilyn Finan cleaned the church and chapel and were finished in about an hour. There are usually only 5 fifth Thursdays in a year! Why not help out in the occasional, much-needed service. Thank you for considering this ministry! Contact Marilyn for more information: 913-652-0108. Do you remember clipping box tops for your kid s school? Well, St. Ann Catholic School collects them, too. Every box top adds up to money that benefits the students at St. Ann Catholic School. Thank you for your support of the school by clipping and collecting box tops for education. Please bring them any time and place them in the collection boxes outside the church entrances. Page 5 St. Ann Catholic Church
