Gracious God and Father, our first father, You are the One who has brought us to life in this world you created. You created us and everything around us. We turned away from you and only after disappointing you did we return your love. Look with favor on our earthly fathers. They helped create us in your image. We have disappointed them, but have come to realize just how important they are to us. By Fr. Terry Kerner Bless all our fathers, living and deceased, with comfort and health. We bring all their needs to you and ask for strength so they may live worthy lives. We ask all this in the name of your Son, our model of what it means to reverence our fathers. In Christ's name. Amen.

Page 2 FAITH FORMATION By Grace Lakatos What a surprise to receive one more graduation acknowledgement from our parish. A familiar face at Mass as a Lector, Neil Jain is graduating from University of Detroit Jesuit High School. The son of Sharad and Elizabeth, he has received recognition in the high school s Speech Team, Model United Nations Team, Politics Club, and Band and as a 4 time competitor at the North American Invitational Model United Nations Conference. He will be attending the University of Michigan in the College of Literature, Science and Arts, Congratulations, Neil! This past week, registration packets have been mailed out to last year s families in the Faith Formation program as well as those families with children eligible to attend the 4-year-old to Kindergarten program that is held during the 4 PM Mass during Faith Formation class days. If you have not received a packet, please contact the parish office. Early registration will prevent the headache accompanying back to school paperwork and the delay of acquiring sufficient copies of any needed program supplies. Sacramental preparation registration packets will be mailed out separately. Our Schedule/Calendar is still in the works. A starting date will be released when it is available. Thank you for your cooperation in regards to this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. THOMAS MORE "I am the King's good servant, but God's first." So said St. Thomas More, whose feast we celebrate on June 22nd. St. Thomas More was once Sir Thomas More, a lawyer and statesman in the court of King Henry VIII. When the king wished to dissolve his marriage to Catherine of Aragon -- who was infertile -- the pope held up the validity of the marriage. Desperate to generate an heir, King Henry declared himself the head of the Church of England and granted himself an annulment. Most leaders signed the "Oath of Supremacy," declaring the King's power over the English Church. Thomas More, then the Lord Chancellor, refused to sign. He was sentenced to death. St. Thomas More reminds us of our call to integrity and to the defense of truth in the public square. Thomas More is the patron saint of lawyers, politicians, and civil servants. St. Thomas More, pray for us!
