They can also offer shower and washing machine facilities and work experience. They can provide free transport to the groups and are keen to encourage more people from our villages and towns to access what they do. It was good to have the support of so many people at the Thanksgiving Service, and I am sorry that I was unable to speak to everyone individually. Thank you also for the donations made in lieu of flowers. Together with donations handed to me personally, I have sent off in excess of 2100 which has been divided between Cancer Research and Macmillan. Finally, I would like to thank you all for the support given to me and in particular Jacky during our time here in the Ryedale Circuit. I wish the circuit well and trust that it will find inspirational ways of being Church! With grateful thanks and best wishes to you all. Frank Hale

4 Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM Banquet Hall Leeds Civic Hall LS1 1UR Joint Public Issues Team (Yorkshire) Conference. Including launch of Joint Public Issues Team Yorkshire. Tickets are free - and include lunch. Places are limited. Message from Louise Exciting News! I have recently made contact with Helen Clark, the Transport Coordinator at Next Steps Ryedale. This is a group based in the Community Café in Norton with groups that also meet in Kirkbymoorside and Pickering. Their aim is to support people in Ryedale to prevent isolation and loneliness, promoting health and wellbeing for everyone. They put on daily activities such as Men in Sheds, crafts, meals, hammers & handbags, games, cinema visits, Sunday lunch, computer courses, gardening on their allotments, walking groups. They can also offer shower and washing machine facilities and work experience. They can provide free transport to the groups and are keen to encourage more people from our villages and towns to access what they do. It is about tackling loneliness before it becomes a big problem, requiring intervention from other agencies. So if you know of anyone in your community who would benefit from this, perhaps you could call me (I have a full list of activities and contacts). Perhaps you could take them to something (going to something new on your own can be daunting), perhaps we can make use of their transport offers? Look out for the publicity that will come into churches. Helen is also willing to call into any of your lunch/coffee/drop in/toddler sessions to share briefly what they offer, either as a short talk or just with a display board. Again, let me know and I will coordinate this. As Helen said, the churches have links to many people both in and outside the congregations, who may really benefit and appreciate the groups and resources of offer. Have a look at their website - 8am to 3pm, Monday to Friday Kirkbymoorside Methodist Church 9am to 12 noon, Wednesday RVS Hungate, Pickering 10am to 12 noon, Wednesday Community Café, Church Street, Norton

Revd Jacky Hale There is a deep sadness in the Circuit this week as the news spreads that our superintendent, Revd Jacky Hale, passed away peacefully early on December 21st.
