I am elated of the commitment and dedication shown by the editors as well as the districts, lodges and chapters that have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their respective community. In my opinion, this is the Greatest Fraternal Organization on planet earth and our actions and deeds speaks for itself. It is my prayers that we will continue to publish the many Great things that are happening in and about the Jurisdiction of Georgia. I would like to personally SALUTE ALL of our SENIOR MEMBERS both deceased and alive who stayed the course, led the way and sacrificed much for us to be where we are today..i am eternally grateful and to God be the Glory! Finally, I pray that we will never forget that we are ordained by GOD to do and be better servants, thus, we must never give up because some under privilege child or elderly person is counting on us to be a Light upon darkness and a Bridge over trouble waters. 11 11 MWPHGL and Prince Hall Grand Chapter Supports the Ronald McDonald House Atlanta The membership of the MWPHGL and Prince Hall Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star collected items for the Annual Grand Community Service Outreach Project for the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities, which is our flagship benefactor for our organization. Members were asked to support this effort at the Mid-Winter meeting in Macon, Georgia. PM Darryl Dees, Director of Community Outreach and his team provided the needs list from the Ronald McDonald House to all who were in attendance. The information was also posted on the Grand Lodge s website and to the Grand Session activities webpage for all to see. Items were collected on Monday and Tuesday during the 146 th Grand Communication of the MWPHGL Jurisdiction of Georgia and 117 th Grand Communication of Prince Hall Grand Chapter, OES. Items such as cleaning supplies, non-perishable items, monetary donations and even over 30 irons and 11 iron boards, in which we found out that this was greatly needed at the Ronald McDonald House. The items were presented to the staff and residents at the Ronald McDonald on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 during the public meeting during Grand Session. Volunteer Service Manager, Catherine Lewis stated, This is by far the largest donation we ve received thus far. All other volunteers were elated and took pictures of all of the items donated. After the presentation, the committee took a tour of the Home that has 50 rooms, a commercial sized kitchen, laundry room, family room, nursery and even a BBQ area, just outside of the residence. MWGM Bruce James and GWM Lynnette Hymes thanked the committee for their hard work throughout the Grand Communication and the committee presented plaques to those Districts who donated the most items, by zones. The winning districts were Waycross for Zone 1, Savannah for Zone 2 and Butler for Zone 3. The members of the Community Outreach Committee are as follows: Bros. Darryl Dees, Jerome Williams, Tre Singleton, Kenny Harris, Matthew Bonham and Sam Malone. Sisters Tonya Dees, Mary Stephens, Prynces Tripp, Treasa Dumas-Jackson and Sara Malone. As we go into our seventh year of existence, we have started now to have a Community Service Outreach project for our Annual Prince Hall Weekend, starting with the Boys and Girls Club in Ft. Valley, Ga. More information will be posted for all to help support the kids in the Butler District area.

12 12 FUFILLING OUR OBLIGATION HELPING A WORTHY DISTRESSED BROTHER P.M. Terry Jones and Family Stranded on I-475 On Friday, July 3, 2015 around 5:00 P.M., DDGM Kenneth Morgan called me, Hollis Middleton, DDGM #5 informing me of a Brother in Distress on I-475 near Thomaston Road Exit. P.M. Terry Jones of Paducah, KY., Stone Square Lodge #5 PHA Jurisdiction of Kentucky, and his family was on their way to visit family in Jacksonville, Florida when the wheel on their van had fallen off and he needed assistance in getting his family including his wife and six children off the roadway. I immediately called P.M. Donald Moore, J.H. Walker Lodge #55 and P.M. Jerico Campbell, J.H. Walker Lodge #55. They in turn went out to investigate to see how they could assist P.M. Jones and his family. P.M. Moore got the family off the road and the van towed to a secure place. P.M. Moore carried the family to his home to stay while the van was being repaired. P.M. Moore, being a mechanic, assessed the van, ordered the part that it took to repair it. Around 11:00 P.M. that night he had repaired the van and P.M. Jones and his family were on their way to Jacksonville, FL to visit with family for the Fourth of July Holiday Weekend. On July 13, 2015, I received a message from P.M. Jones letting me know that he and his family had arrived home in Paducah, KY, safely from their vacation in Jacksonville, FL. P.M. Jones sends his Thanks and Respect to the Jurisdiction of GA and The Macon District #5 for their assistance during his time of distress. Respectfully submitted Hollis Middleton DDGM #5

14 14 Vashti Grimes Pullen Chapter No. 586: A Decade of Outstanding Service! The members of Vashti Grimes Pullen No. 586 are celebrating 10 years of service to the community. Sister DeBora Rayford, Worthy Matron and Brother Walter James, Worthy Patron are working strong. WM Rayford s theme: Remember the past, Challenge the present, and Embrace the future is exactly what we do in our chapter. Vashti Grimes Pullen Chapter began the year with our annual Prayer Bruch at Sky house south in beautiful downtown Atlanta. Exodus Lodge No. 593 with Brother James E. Rush 32, Worshipful master attended to show support to their sister chapter. We took time to show to view midtown Atlanta which shows an awesome view of Stone Mountain, GA. Vashti Grimes Pullen Chapter had an awesome Annual Five Point Tea which was a great success in an effort to scholarships to upcoming college students. Vashti Grimes Pullen Chapter supported Exodus Lodge No. 593 in their fund raising efforts for the lodge. Thank you to both Grand Lodge and District officers as well as Local chapters and lodges which continue to support Vashti Grimes Pullen Chapter No. 586.

15 15 Griffin Lodge No. 317: Back to School Explosion! Submitted by: Bro Abdul R Salaam, WM On July 26, 2015 at Griffin City Park, Griffin Lodge #317, Griffin Chapter #386, Bokar Temple No. 166 and Lady Nazarene Court UD along with the Joint Collaboration of other Sponsors and Business Owners, Back to School Explosion was a Huge Success, with the greatest attendance to date with over 2,000 guest taking part in the event, we had more than 50 sponsors that partnered with us providing supplies, backpacks, food, clothing and other items to the community. The event provided fun and games for kids, hair care for participants and health and wellness screenings for many families. We were able to provide over 1, 200 children with supplies for the upcoming school year. Many thanks and congratulations to the Community, Sponsors, Volunteers, Business Owners, Chapter, Court, Temple and Lodge for making this event successful!

16 16 Pride of Forsyth Chapter No.144 (O.E.S.) Macon District No. 5 On May 2, 2015, the Sisters and Brothers of Pride of Forsyth hosted their 1 st Free Community Health and Awareness Day on the Square in downtown Forsyth, Georgia. The Mayor as well as other local officials supported this event and asked that we make it An Annual Affair. There were medical vendors with free screenings, hospital vendors, churches, insurance companies, heath departments, local fire dept., police department, non-medical vendors with free information and free goodies. There were free inflatables and popcorn for the children along with free rides on the Police Department mobile scooters. The event was a huge success. Our special thanks go to our chairperson, Sister Adrione King for her hard work and dedicated to this event. Pride of Forsyth has served Monroe County for 32 Years. Sis. 17 17 New Starlight Chapter No. 44 Loses Past Matron Pulaski, GA Sister Wanda Kay Williams Walker, PM, was born on November 12, 1968, to the late Edward and Lois Williams. She was the youngest of seven children. She departed this life on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia. The Bulloch County native was a graduate of Portal High School in Portal, Georgia. She was a member of the Pine Grove Holiness Church in Portal. Sister Walker was initiated into the New Starlight Chapter #44 Order of Eastern Star in Pulaski, Georgia on October 3, She reigned as Statesboro District #18 Queen and held several offices including Treasurer and Associate Matron during her tenure. Sister Walker served faithfully as Worthy Matron from She enjoyed attending the Grand Sessions and Prince Hall Day events along with other chapter and district functions. In addition, she was also an advocate for the youth. Her favorite youth project was participating in the Great American Cleanup in Bulloch County. Although Sister Walker s health limited her, she continued to persevere despite the difficulties. On January 30, 2010, Statesboro District #18 presented her with the Perseverance Award. Sister Walker is truly climbing Jacob s ladder and every round goes higher and higher! She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Clayton Walker; three children Clayton (Jaleisia) Williams, Sr.; Corey Walker and Cheyenne Walker all of Portal, GA; and two grandchildren, Clayton Williams, Jr. Portal, GA, and Braylan Smalls, Savannah, GA.

18 18 Sister Pearl Tanner, PDWM, Celebrates 80th Birthday! Statesboro District No. 18 On Saturday, March 28, 2015, children and grandchildren of Sister Pearl Tanner, PDWM of Statesboro District #18, honored her as she celebrated her 80 th birthday at the Metter Community Center in Metter, Georgia. Sister Tanner was born in Bulloch County on March 10, 1935 to the late Mr.& Mrs. Willie McCollum. The theme for this joyous occasion was Down Thru the Years. Escorted by her grandson, Mr. Larry Brown, Sister Tanner was gorgeous in her lavender and purple attire. She was serenaded by the Ellis Family which included Sisters Delores Hagins, PM, and Shanta Ellis of Rose Metter #249 who sung several selections including her favorite, Another Blessing. Special guest was her pastor, Rev. Gregory Thomas and the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church family of Register, Georgia, members of New Starlight #44 and Pulaski Lodge # 319 and other chapters and lodges of Statesboro District #18. Remarks were given by family and friends including Brother Leon Brown, PDDGM, and Sister Frances Thompson, Past Associate District Worthy Matron of District #18. Sister Tanner s affiliation with the Prince Hall Family began May 17, 1971, when she joined Cape Jessamine Chapter #86 OES in Statesboro, Georgia. The brothers of Pulaski Lodge #319 had a vision to establish a sisterhood to work beside them. Therefore, in 1985, Sister Tanner and three other sisters demitted from Cape Jessamine to form New Starlight Chapter #44 OES in Pulaski, Georgia. She faithfully served as Worthy Matron in She also served as the District Worthy Matron of Statesboro Masonic District #18 in In 2006, she received her Life membership certificate and pin. At 80 years old, Sister Tanner is still very dedicated and active in her church, chapter, and community. She participates in many of the local, district, and grand activities and currently serves as district lecturer of District #18. She is also a member of the Eva J. Moore Assembly #348 Order of the Golden Circle in Statesboro. Sister Tanner was married to the late Brother Clymon Tanner, Sr. She has eight children: Louell, Karen, Annette, Judy, Sandra, Clymon, Jr., Benjamin, and Jacqueline; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren. Sister Tanner resides in Register, Georgia, and is retired from the East Georgia Medical Center in Statesboro. Sister Tanner s Children Hat Cake for the Hat Lady

James, 33 Most Worshipful Grand Master Miss Kobe Wilson Grand Youth President Brother Sam McDonald Grand Worthy Patron Sister Sherri Davis Grand Assistant Youth Directress "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it" ~ Proverbs 22:6 GRAND YOUTH OFFICERS RETREAT The 7 th Marilyn Moore Grand Youth Officers Retreat was held in Columbus; a total of forty-nine (Officers and their Directors) were in attendance on July 14 th - 17 th. The Retreat allows an opportunity to provide one-on-one training to our Grand Youth Officers and Directors. The four days spent in Columbus were packed with very detailed training on their duties, responsibilities, demonstrations, group discussions and two field trips. Having the chance to work with one another in a smaller environment provided an atmosphere where the Officers could openly discuss issues and more comfortably ask questions while gaining lasting memories and friendships. As the Grand Youth Directress, the Retreat gave me an opportunity to get to know them on a personal level and identify their strengths. The 'Leadership' material presented was well received. The youth actively participated in meetings by answering questions and sharing personal experiences regarding how communication and integrity played a vital role in their lives. Each was given four homework assignments to be completed before arrival to include their introduction in the form of a song or poem and various topics on leadership. The 'Introduction' assignment was both interesting and hilarious; the new officers learned something about their peers and all of us loosened up with bursts of laughter during this hour. The one-on-one training was also well received; they were paired with the Grand Youth Directress, Grand Assistant Youth Directress, a Grand Chapter Officer or Grand Lodge Officer who gave great training based on their position. Afterwards the group returned to their seats and shared highlights of what was learned. The most interesting part of the day was the 'Grand Matron's Conference Call'. They were excited and honored that she took the time to phone in and talk with them. Knowing their names and asking direct questions was a special moment that brought a beam of light to their faces. The Directors all echoed how happy they were as they've NEVER witnessed that before; a Grand Worthy Matron taking time from her very busy work day for Knowledge Share via conference call with the youth. We were all very happy and excited for her contribution to the Retreat.

20 20 During the Retreat there were many wonderful events and moments from the Officers. I was very impressed with the younger group (Ethan Hollis, Logan Massey, JaMarcus Fisher, Madison Miller and Shavonte' Bolds). While at the National Infantry Museum you'd think they would've been lost in the many rooms of war artifacts and memorabilia instead they just consumed what the tour guide had to share and asked tons of questions. Having studied about the wars and leaders in school it was great for them to see the displays and relate to the history books. They wore that young tour guide out with their knowledge. I cannot give enough accolades to Sister Christie Hudson, District Planning Coordinator and members of Columbus District for what they did to make our stay perfect. They were asked to prepare four meals for us, provide security and assist me with finding transportation. They went above and beyond, rolling out a red carpet of perfect hospitality for us. On Thursday, July 16 th the group accompanied by the District Worthy Matron and two members of the Planning Committee traveled to Tuskegee University for a guided tour of the campus. We were quite happy to see various historical places to include the home of Booker T. Washington (The Oaks), the George Washington Carver Museum and the Tuskegee Airmen Museum. We also had the pleasure of eating lunch in the campus restaurant, Dorothy's Place where we truly enjoyed a tasty meal. While in Tuskegee we took advantage of an opportunity to deliver donated items to the Veteran's Hospital for wounded warriors and senior citizens residing in the VA's Community Living Center. Arrangements were also made to take the group on a guided bus tour of the campus. Many thanks to the Chapters and Districts for the donations, the presentation would not have been possible without your assistance. The Retreat wrapped up with a social for the Grand Youth Officers on Thursday evening at the Columbus Masonic Temple. Brothers and Sisters of District No. 4 provided food, a DJ and tons of fun for them. The Officers danced, ate and socialized all evening. Again, I cannot give enough accolades to Columbus District for hosting the 7 th Marilyn Moore Grand Youth Officer's Retreat, everything you did for us was very much appreciated. I must also recognize those persons who contributed to the "Leadership" training, they are: Miss Kobe Wilson, GYP, Sister Sherri Davis, GAYD, Brother Sam McDonald, GWP, Sister Deaidra Wilson, GAM, Brother CJ James, GAP, Sister Saundra Parks, GC, Sister Mary Surry, GT and Brother Dannie Surry, GL Chaplain. A big thank you also goes out to the many Youth Directors who made it possible for the Grand Youth Officers to be in attendance and gave of themselves to assist when needed. Sister Lynnette S. Hymes, Grand Worthy Matron was unable to join us this year due to responsibilities on her job. We wanted her to know just how much we appreciate and love her so each participant was asked to bring an item representative of the city they live in. All items were placed in a beautiful basket arranged by Sister Felicia George Prince and delivered to the Grand Matron. She was overwhelmed with joy to receive it. To the Grand Youth Officers, 'Thank You' for attending and participating in your Training Retreat. It was a pleasure to spend four days with you. 23 23 King Solomon Youth Chapter No Marietta, GA Youth Director: Sis. Felicia D. Snead Assistant Youth Director: Sis. Tausha Tate Youth President: Veronique Dupree Inaugural Family Gala July 26, 2015 SUCCESS!!! King Solomon Youth Chapter No. 133 has done an exceptional job on their Inaugural Family Gala. KSYC No. 133 Inaugural Mother/Son - Father/Daughter Family Gala was held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 in Marietta, GA at Harvest Hall Banquet Room. This Gala was birth on an idea where funds collected would be used for the following Community Outreach pillars of our Youth Chapter: school supplies and feeding the homeless for 7 Bridges to Recovery, expense related to outreach for the Ronald McDonald House, and next year's Grand Youth Session King & Queen's Contest whereby funds that are raised in this annual contest are awarded in scholarships to deserving graduating High School students in the State of Georgia. 7 Bridges to Recovery is a Women and Children s shelter that has been adopted by both the Youth and Sister Chapters of King Solomon. The Garden, as 7 Bridges is affectionately referred to, is home to about 60 women and 40 children that have been rescued from homelessness or broken situations. It is God s hospital, a place where they can come and be healed where the residents are allowed to stay as long as they need to at no charge. Bible study is three times a day and is mandatory for all residents. They offer many classes and resources but spiritual restoration is their main goal. 7 Bridges to Recovery wants to see them set-free from past bondage and cycles and move on to be lights wherever they go from there. We are excited about our continued partnership with this ministry as we help them, they in turn, help us to grow spiritually and emotionally by giving and supporting their needs. In addition to dinner and a stimulating program that included a motivational speech by our very own, Youth Faith McMullen, we were also entertained by sister/brother gospel rap duo, Alyssia & Jared Smith, as well as blessed by MOU (Men of Unity step team) of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. On Sunday, August 9, our Joint Service Weekend continued with a church visitation at Little Friendship Missionary Baptist Church located at 315 5th Avenue Decatur, GA for 11:00 a.m. service where both Chapter and Lodge presented donations to the church. 27 27 Prince Hall New Beginnings Team The members of Prince Hall New Beginnings Team would like to thank everyone whom has given support and helped with fundraising for the renovations at the Lodge Hall located at 330 Auburn Avenue. Our 330 Auburn Avenue home is historic and we are giving much time and effort to renovate the building. Our latest project was the remodeling of the 3 rd floor Ladies and Gentlemen restrooms. After much effort and fundraising - the finished project was a beautiful success! Thank you to the Grand Lodge, Grand Chapter, District officers, chapters and lodges which give continued support to New Beginnings. Next Step will be to renovate the 3 rd floor Order of Eastern Star Chapter room and the two Anti Rooms. 28 28 Central City Masonic Lodge #12 & Central City Chapter #46, OES City Lodge #12 and Central City Grab Bag day for the Houston out 100 bags filled with school consisted of Notebook paper, Spi- book, folders, index cards, eras- pencil sharpeners, ABC books, The kids enjoyed various outside members of Central City. The to enjoy the fire safety, the children, the duties of a equipment on also had the deputy sheriff and his mascot Eddie the Eagle who passed out finger printing cards to the adults and smiles to all the youth. We also had a voter s registration table which consisted of the voter registration application and a pamphlet of all of the upcoming elections and an informational table with various materials given out. What an amazing day for the Houston Avenue Community. We are so grateful to have been able to do so much for the families and will continue to be a driving force in the community and lead by example. It was such a joy to pass out school supply and see the excitement in the children s On August 1, 2015 Central Chapter #46 had a successful Avenue community passing supplies. The remaining 91 Grab Bags will be divided between the Lodge and Chapter respectively and distributed out to their adopted schools. 30 30 Baldwin Lodge No. 159 Annual Family and Friends Day Submitted by: Brother Danreco Tucker, SW It has always been a tradition since Baldwin Lodge #159 inception, to make all members, visitors, and nonmembers, feel as if they are family. This tradition continued on July 25, 2015, during the Second Annual Baldwin Lodge#159 Family and Friends Day. There were cars lining the streets like a black Friday Shopping Event allowing only one direction of travel for three blocks. There were Clowns braving the heat as they entertained kids of all ages with face painting, balloon animals, and pictures. Tents were statically placed on the lawn for the community to take refuge out of the sun, smoke bellowing from four grills as the Brothers endured the heat and hot grease from the fish fryer as they prepared the meal for the community. Once all the food was prepared, the Brothers took their place on the serving line like a well chorography symphony as the community members systemically moved through the serving line as they selected the food items of their choice. Some of the guest took a considerable amount of time to make their selection because of the extensive food items that were being offered. The menu consisted of: Potato and Pasta Salad, Grilled Ribs, Chicken, Turkey Wings, Fish, Hot Dogs, Sausages, Hamburgers, French Fries, Poke and Beans, Lays Potato Chips, Pie, and other deserts that seemed to disappear as soon as it hit the table. Unlimited cases of bottled water, sodas, and juice kept everyone cool as they enjoyed their meals. The Brothers rotated in shifts as the guest arrived to enjoy the festivities and greeted each guest with cheerful smile they urge them to eat as much as their heart desired. As the guests feasted and socialized, a brother provided music that was soothing for all ages to enjoy. Everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves beyond comprehension as evident by their unwillingness bid their family and friends Goodbye as the night drew to a close. The event lasted from 5:00 p.m. until well after 10:30 p.m. and at the end of the night, the Brothers of Baldwin Lodge #159 realized that the Second Annual Family and Friends Day felt more like a Family Reunion than a community event.

34 34 Griffin Lodge No. 317: Community Outreach On August 12, 2015 The Brothers of Griffin Lodge #317 participated in the Speak Up Speak Out Community Outreach Meeting along with The City of Griffin Police Department to show our support and for the Community to see that we care about our Youth. The meeting took place at Rising Star Baptist Church. Our presence spoke volume, we got a chance to see and hear the needs and concerns dealing with gang violence in the Community. Griffin Lodge #317 has vowed to be a vital force of support partnering with others to find ways to help change the violent patterns that is plaguing our communities. Moving forward with the vision to turn Violence into the true meaning of Benevolence by showing the youth how to do good deeds to others and find ways to be productive in the community.

35 35 Masonic Digest Gate City PHAmily Cookout After the conclusion of our Annual Grand Session, both Gate City Lodge No. 42 and Gate City Chapter No. 48 were exhausted from all the work that went into helping contribute to its success. On Saturday, July 11 th, we joined together on a hot afternoon to fellowship with friends and family for our Annual Gate City PHAmily Cookout. That afternoon, we enjoyed great music, food, card games and softball. The PHAmily spirit was high. The heat nor the bugs could chase us away as we laughed, loved and took a break from the work to enjoy some much deserved downtime. Gate City 3-Peats at H.R. Butler Annual Bowling Tournament To conclude the weekend of July 11 th, Gate City Lodge No. 42 had the fortune to participate in H.R. Butler No. 23 Lodge s Annual Bowling Tournament. Having won the last two tournaments, we knew that H.R. Butler had plans to thwart a three-peat. With a hard fought battle of friendly competition between these two historic lodges, in the end Gate City once again was able to take home first place and record a three-peat in this tournament that is held to raise money for scholarships.

Laney Chapter No. 20, Juanita Long encourages us with her inspiring words that we have now embraced as our Motto "Team Work is Dream Work". On May 28, 2015 Lucy C. Laney Chapter No. 20 and Belle S. Clark No. 107 youth group at our "Hat Outreach Project" donated Hats to the Cancer patients at MCG Cancer Center. On June 17, 2015 Sisters from Mary McLeod Bethune No. 468 and Lucy C. Laney Chapter No. 20 helped out a family that was in need of a place to stay and food to eat and everyone came together and helped in providing a place for them and some food to eat in this time of need. On June 20, 2015 Lucy C. Laney Chapter No. 20 helped prepare food for over 600 meals to feed homeless families at Golden Harvest. On July 25, 2015 we all came together and enjoyed this time of fellowship from Augusta Masonic District 2 Family Fun Day Cookout hosted by Lucy C. Laney Chapter No. 20 and Bannaker Lodge No. 3 at Elijah Clark State Park in Lincolnton, Georgia. The next day July 26, 2015 the brothers and sisters from Augusta Masonic District No. 2 came together for praise and worship and had an enjoyable service at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church during our quarterly church visitation. July 28, 2015 the Lupus Foundation Fundraiser at Skateland hosted by the Lupus Committee. On August 3, 2015 Lucy C. 37 37 Foundation Lodge No. 592: Adopt-A-Mile Foundation Lodge #592 had its second Adopt-A-Mile for the year on July 18 th, The Brothers of Foundation Lodge take great pride in this quarterly initiative. We contribute to keeping the community of Smyrna clean and free of litter, on Atlanta road, despite the vicissitudes and inclemency of the season. Our zeal for the institution of Masonry, the progress we have made in the mystery and our conformity to its regulations continue to identify us as proper objects for the favor and esteem of this most ancient and honorable order. With this knowledge, its aims and purposes, we sacrifice ourselves to be pillars in the community. We serve as living examples of the tenants which make up this great association. Our aim is to ensure that no duty of benevolence and charity is left undone. We properly apply these purposes to the best advantage and use this opportunity to walk upright in our community. 40 40 City of Guyton, GA has a new Top Cop Brother Kelphie K. Lundy is the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police and also the part time City Manager for the City of Guyton in Guyton, Guyton. He was hired for the position of Director/Chief on March 2 nd of this year, (just about six months ago). He was just recently as of August 21 st of this year given the position of part time City Manager as well. Brother Lundy has been in law enforcement for fifteen years & five months. He started his career with the Statesboro Police Department and worked his way up through the ranks as a Patrol Officer, Corporal, Detective and Watch Sergeant. He was also the Commander of the Honor Guard for approximately 6 years. For a short time, Brother Lundy also worked as a Deputy in the Effingham County Sheriff s Office for approximately a year and a half of his law enforcement career. Brother Lundy have had hundreds of hours of training through the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council and graduated from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police School earlier this year. Brother Lundy is currently enrolled in Troy University online to purse a Bachelor s degree in Criminal Justice. Brother Lundy is in his second year as Worshipful Master in Pulaski Lodge#319 (District#18), he is also a member of Pulaski Royal Arch Chapter 12-B, Swainsboro Consistory#317 and Omar Temple#21 in Savannah, Georgia. Brother Lundy was originally part of Truthful Lodge#375 in Portal, Georgia. Brother Lundy has four wonderful children (three daughters: Kennedy, Kandis, Zoie and a son: Kelsey) whom all are from Bulloch County, Georgia. Brother Lundy is the son of Wanda Lundy who also a resident of Bulloch County, Georgia. Brother Lundy is a member of Johnson Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Portal, Georgia. 41 41 New Starlight Chapter No. 44 Scholarship Recipient Makes Dean s List Mr. Corey McCollum of Statesboro, Georgia, achieved academic honors by being selected for the Spring 2015 Dean s List maintaining a GPA of 3.8. Corey is a 2013 honor graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School, Brooklet, Georgia, where he was a scholar athlete. He currently attends Savannah State University where he is a junior and is majoring in Civil Engineer. Mr. McCollum was chosen as the 2013 & 2014 scholarship recipient of New Starlight Chapter #44 OES in Pulaski, Georgia. He has also received the PSLSAMP Engineering Scholarship. His other activities include volunteering in Leadership Development Programs and secretary of Male Initiative. He is a member of Historical First African Baptist Church in Statesboro, Georgia, where he participates in the Young Adult Choir. 45 45 Cape Jessamine Chapter No. 86: Grateful hearts Overwhelmed July 28th- Cape Jessamine members, along with John Wesley Lodge No. 161 and Statesboro Force, a middle school basketball team, joined together to provide a Back-to-School-Bash for boys and girls of Blakewood Community (subsidized housing apartments). The groups provided hot dogs, chips, and juice, for the children. Back-to-School Bags were stuffed with pencils, paper, binders, notebooks, index cards, pens, tooth brushes, tooth paste, composition books, crayons, glue sticks and erasers. Tracy, the manager at Blakewood welcomed us to come and give back to the community. With joyful hearts, love and happiness, we were able to distribute about 60 bags and feed the same number of children. The Worthy Matron, Sis. Bettye Harper, thanked the Back to School Committee, Sis. Carriebell Roberts and Sis. Karen Nunnally, for a job well done! Yesterday proved what we are all about SERVICE, she said. Sis. We estimated close to 60 or more children were given school supplies, book bags, clothes, shoes, and a small meal at Blake Wood apartments. We have no doubt that God was present. Today s work was what Cape Jessamine was created to do and that is to help our community, and therefore, change lives. As God s servants, we touched the hearts of some today, and helped mothers, fathers, and children in need without the expectation of a reward. We were overwhelmed with gratitude! 46 46 Veterans treated to Bingo and Fish by the Baldwin PHAmily! Submitted by: Brother Danreco Tucker, SW On Saturday, June 20, 2015, The Baldwin Lodge #159 and Baldwin Chapter #486 decided to sacrifice their time by hosting a Bingo Party and a Fish Fry at the Georgia War Veterans Home, for the men and women that has sacrificed so much for our freedom. The day kicked off with a Fish Fry luncheon after all the Veterans was escorted from their respected living quarters to the pavilion as various historical stories was told along the way. All the Veterans were served some amazing hot fish, mouth watering cake, and cold beverages and once they were finish eating, they were eager to break out their Bingo Boards before their pants no longer contained buttons and belt buckles. Once inside the Activity Room, the competition and the trash talking begin to build as the numbers were called out one after another. The action kept everyone in attendance glued to their seats and with all eyes fixed on the numbers that was displayed on their bingo cards. With each number that was being called, all veterans anticipation being the next one to Yell out those famous words..bingo! The unlimited amount of prizes raised the stakes as well as their blood pressure. The day concluded with large smiles, handshakes, and hugs that were exchanged between the Veterans, their family members, and the members of Baldwin #159 and Baldwin Chapter #486. The measure of success is not measured by the accolades one possesses, but the joy that one brings to a stranger. Although, it is impossible to repay all Veterans for their Countless Sacrifices that they have made, but we can honor them by simply volunteering your time and simply saying Thanks.

49 49 Masonic digest Gate City Chapter No 48: Getting Back to the Basics In 2015, Gate City No. 48 s Worthy Matron, Jacqueline McCoy decided that the Chapter needed to get back to the basics, to remember where we came from and that our purpose in the community is to serve others. This year we did just that! The Youth of Hattie L. Simms started us off by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. They were able to prepare and serve a healthy and nutritious meal for the parents, grandparents, family and friends of children having surgeries and other life- saving treatment at Egleston Children s Hospital. The Youth were able to be a blessing to others in need by giving of their time and talent. The residents were overjoyed interacting with the Youth and were very grateful for the prayers and time the Youth were able to give them. The Youth were thanked with gifts from the staff of the Ronald McDonald House and an abundance of hugs and thank you s from the residents. As the year continued, the Chapter continued to take pride in serving the community by donating food items to My Sister s House. My Sister s House is an organization that serves homeless women and children in the Atlanta area. Gate City No. 48 was able to bless the residents with a variety of fresh food, canned goods and other supplies to stock their pantry. The City didn t stop there, the Sisters, Brothers and Youth volunteered at the Lupus Walk in Piedmont Park. At this event, members set up water stations to pass out water to walkers who participated in the annual walk. They also gave words of encouragement to the walkers as they walked for the cure. We couldn t stop there! Gate City also hosted a Senior Prom for the residents of Legacy Nursing Home on Auburn Avenue. The residents were able to walk down the red carpet, partake of light snacks, listen to music, receive gifts and feel good about themselves. It was truly an uplifting event and all in attendance were grateful for the experience. There are a few more exciting months left in the and Gate City No. 48 has a lot more to offer! year

50 50 Masonic digest Carrollton Family St. John s Day Experience The Brothers of Carrollton Lodge #57 and Sisters of Carrollton Chapter #28 came together on Sunday, June 28, 2015, to celebrate and enjoy a dynamic St. John s Day service held at Kelley Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA. The Carrollton connection once again experienced an enlightening afternoon of inspirational preaching and enjoyed a wonderful fellowship with the brothers and sisters of Atlanta Masonic District #3 East and West. Some of the Grand lodge and Chapter officers that attended the service included Grand Associate Matron, Sister Deaidra P. Wilson and Grand Assistant Lecturer and Worshipful Master of Carrollton Lodge #57, Brother Dwight Hartage. Atlanta Masonic District No 3 East under the leadership of District Deputy Grand Master Matthew Lewis, Assistant District Deputy Grand Masters Don Dukes and Reggie Walker, District Worthy Matron Kisha West and District Worthy Patron Calvin Moody participated in the Old Fourth Ward /Hope Hill Elementary School Back-to-School Youth Festival. Atlanta Masonic District No 3, Martin Luther King, Sr. Community Resources Collaborative, Ebenezer Baptist Church Youth Ministry, National Park Service and Nabbar Temple No. 128 hosted the event. The Youth Festival provided a day of fun for the school aged children in old Fourth Ward and Hope-Hill Elementary School and was full of surprises. At 10:00 a.m., the day started with family registration and a visit to the community resources vendor area. The vendors consisted of the likes of Mental Fitness, an afterschool/ activity program designed to improve not only physical fitness but mental fitness through reinforced learning and computer technology. Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Martin Luther King, Sr. Collaborative, Habitat for Humanity and SafeLink Wireless also participated as vendors. Brother C.T. Martin, Atlanta City Councilmember, provided several jump machines for the event. Besides the jump machines, participants were able to enjoy popcorn cooked by Past Master R.L. Mathis and music provided by Brother Christopher Freeman.

52 52 Masonic digest WC Thomas #112 The students were all surprised by the appearance of the Atlanta Fire Department ladder truck provided by the Atlanta Fire Chief, Brother Joel Baker. The students were able to sit in the vehicle, blow the warning siren and have their picture taken. Nabbar Temple No. 128 provided over 300 book bags filled with notebooks, pencils, markers, erasers and rulers. Noble Brother Rogers Jones coordinated the school supply efforts. Hope-Hill Elementary students in attendance were fitted for a complete school uniform polotop and khaki-bottom provided by Lodges and Chapters of Atlanta Masonic District No. 3 and all of the York Rite Bodies housed at 330 Auburn Avenue. Eighty-five (85) uniforms were distributed at the Youth Festival and the remaining 67 were donated to the Hope-Hill Elementary student uniform closet for teachers and faculty to distribute to needy students. Atlanta Masonic District No. 3 will be responsible for the student uniform closet items. At high noon, the participants and their families were treated to a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks. The Youth Festival ended at 2:00 p.m. with the final surprise of the day - 45 boxes of copy paper delivered to the Hope-Hill Elementary school. Each teacher will receive a box for classroom use. The copy paper was purchased through donations from lodges, chapters, and individuals. The cases of copy paper represented 225,000 sheets of copy paper.

55 55 Cape Jessamine donates to Carl Vinson VA Hospital Homeless Program Dublin, GA- For several months, Cape Jessamine Chapter No. 86 collected items for the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center s Homeless Women Program. Members donated powdered detergent, powdered bleach, shampoo, hand sanitizer, hair conditioner, lotions, bar soap, liquid soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other personal care and miscellaneous items to the cause. The Carl Vinson VA Dublin Hospital offers the following services to homeless Veterans and Veterans at risk of homelessness, and their families: VA s Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) which assist homeless Veterans in returning to competitive employment. 57 57 Masonic Digest Gate City Lodge No. 42 Helps MedShare On Saturday, May 30 th, the Brothers of Gate City Lodge No. 42, traveled to Southeast Atlanta to participate in a community service project with Medshare. Medshare is a non-profit organization that works to redistribute surplus medical supplies to areas of need across the globe. The Lodge s work focused on sorting and helping to pack various catheters. Our initial work was sorting catheters of various types and sizes. After the catheters were sorted, they were categorized based on type (i.e. Pediatric, Adult, etc.). We helped to box them and get them ready for shipping. After a few hours of work, we helped pack 142 boxes that shipped to various parts of the world including Nepal, Mauritania, The Philippines and other countries across the globe. Through our efforts we helped to save over 550lbs of medical supplies from going to local landfills. This projects showed where our efforts were quantified and it was fulfilling knowing that we had a hand in making a significant difference to so many people around the world. Gate City Wins Atlanta Masonic District No. 3 West Lodge of the Year On Saturday, June 6 th during Atlanta Masonic District No 3 Anniversary, Gate City Lodge No. 42 was selected as the Lodge of the Year! Butler #23 Throughout my fire service career, I have made many personal and professional scarifies, as well as spent many countless hours and days studying and attending various colleges and university to ensure that when the day came for me to obtain the ranks of fire chief, I would be ready to answer that call and will not fail those who have given me so much to ensure that my career is successful as a fire chief in the fire service. However, as much as I enjoy being called Fire Chief, especially fire chief for one of the largest fire departments in the southeastern part of the country, there is one title that I enjoy being called the most and that is the title of Brother. I have had the honor of knowing several Masons over the years and not one have ever asked me to join their Lodge. Not even those Brothers whom I attend church with have asked me (e.g. 1 Past Grand Master, 2 Past Master, and 2 Master Mason), nor have these Brothers ever given me an indication that I could become a Brother of their Lodge. I later learned that in order to become a Brother, one has to ask to become one. This is totally different as it relates to becoming a fire chief, which requires you to meet certain qualification and certifications. These qualifications may include having a Bachelors Degree, Master Degree, have several years of fire service experience, as well as being certified as an Executive Fire Officers (EFO), Chief Fire Officers (CFO), or Membership in the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE). There are also the hidden requirements of Luck or Politics, that you are required to have as you strive to reach your career goal as fire chief. However, to become a Brother, one only need to be worthy and well qualified and properly vouched for; as luck or politics is not required nor is it accepted for Brotherhood. The important differences between the fire chief and Brother, is well qualified and properly vouched for. The fire chief candidates in some cases [depending on jurisdictions] may or may not be well qualified and properly vouched for. However, only those well-qualified and properly vouched for are allowed to become candidates for Brothers. As it relates to candidate for fire chief, only the Mayor, Chief Operating Officers, or City/County Managers have the authority to determine whether or not a fire chief candidate is well-qualified and properly vouched for (eg. vouched for by means of educations, certifications and years of experiences). Once the fire chief candidates meet all of the requirements for the position, he has earned the rank / title of Fire Chief and should be called as such by all he serves. In the case of Brother, only a Brother can determine whether or not a candidate for Masonry shall be allowed to be Initiated, Passed, and Raised. Once a candidate has completed his quest of becoming a Brother, that newly made Brother is entitled to all of the rights and benefits that has been bestowed upon all Brothers of the Craft. In my opinion, the rights and benefits that deserved the most recognition is that of been called a Brother. We should not call a well-qualified and properly vouched for Brother by the name of Fire Chief, Doctor, Councilman, etc., for they have earned all of the rights and benefits of serving all as a Brother of the Craft and should be recognized by what they entitled to be called, which is a Brother.

Greetings PHAmily, As you should be aware from Grand Master Bruce James latest proclamation, the push to obtain a Prince Hall Georgia tag is in full effect. The team assigned to secure the required 1,000 paid applications has already met to develop a plan that will ensure the success of this endeavor. Keep in mind that displaying a Prince Hall tag can have many positive impacts. The unique design is an effective way to honor our Founder, Prince Hall. This is also a way to show our pride and solidarity as members and make the public aware of our great organization s existence. The Grand Director of Technology, R.W. Members of the Prince Hall Family of Masons and Eastern Stars. Q. Do I have to be a Georgia resident? A. Specialized tags are not manufactured as souvenirs. You must be a resident of Georgia and register your vehicle with the special tag at the Tax Commissioner's office in the county where you reside. Q. Are there any other requirements? A. You must also meet all of the requirements of vehicle registration (i.e. Provide proof of Georgia liability insurance coverage and pay all registration fees and applicable ad valorem taxes, etc.). Q. What form of payment is accepted for my application (manufacturing) fee? A. Payments must be made by cashier s check, money order, cash or debit card.
