Each Conference is irreplaceable as the memories of families and friends come together. Although we gather and leave as friends, it is very important that you send delegation to represent a voice for your Council and Court. We implore you to exercise your right to vote in the election of your Board of Directors for 2018 to 2020 Texas State Council and Texas State Court. It is our sincere hope that you take advantage of this opportunity to participate in the election of individuals that will continue to improve our great organization. As Clavers, we have a responsibility to be outstanding examples in showing charity to human kind. Let s demonstrate our efforts during the Mickey Leland Food Drive, our Veterans Service Project, and in our support of our priests and parishes that we are truly doing God s work here on earth. 5 CONFERENCE REGISTRATION The cost of registration for each person in attendance participating in the 88 th Annual Texas State Conference will be $ REGISTRATION MUST BE POST MARKED BY THE DEADLINE OF MARCH 31, THE REGISTRATION PACKAGE INCLUDES 1 Ticket to the Banquet on Saturday Evening 1 Ticket to the Breakfast on Sunday Morning 1 Conference Bag 1 Conference Badge for Attendance into the Plenary Sessions There will be NO ONSITE REGISTRATION. Subordinate Unit checks, cashier s checks or money orders are the only acceptable forms of payment that will be accepted. Any subordinate unit check that is returned for Non-Sufficient funds, the unit will be asked to remit a cashier s check plus an additional $50.00 Non-Sufficient funds fee. CONFERENCE LODGING The Texas State Conference has committed our conference lodging to be arranged by the Omni Dallas Hotel Park West, located near the vibrant Las Colinas Business District, and only 10 minutes from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Members and guests planning to reside in the conference hotel must make their own reservations by calling toll free THE-OMNI or by copying the below link and placing into your web portal. Please make sure to identify The Knights of Peter Claver as the group/event when making your reservations. All group attendees will be responsible for their own room, tax and incidental charges. 6 CONFERENCE SOUVENIR BOOK Our Conference Souvenir Book is a distinctive publication of the individuality of each Council and Court. Each year, we work to illustrate who our subordinate units are and feature their accomplishments in a nice pictorial display. Use this book as an opportunity to market your individual subordinate units of activities in the community, youth participation and parish involvement, WE WANT TO SEE YOU. Out of 33 Courts and 31 Councils in the State of Texas, historically, only half purchase an advertisement in our booklet, some individually and some are jointly. This year, WE encourage each subordinate unit to purchase a full-page advertisement AND share with us how your unit is participating in the church and community. 7 SCHOLARSHIP BANQUET Becoming a priest or a man or woman religious is not primarily our own decision.... Rather it is the response to a call and to a call of love. 1 The Texas State Conference Scholarship has a responsibility in supporting and assisting our churches in promoting, supporting, and educating about the Church s pastoral needs and concerns for the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life. As we continue to pray for vocations in our communities, we must also be prepared to assist financially, those seeking the call. The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education. 2 A student who has the aspiration to enroll in a Technical Institute of Higher Learning, this organization must continue to provide ongoing financial support. The tickets for the Scholarship and Awards Banquet are $40.00 per person. WE ask that if you will not be able to attend the banquet, that you consider donating the cost directly to the scholarship curriculum. The earnings generated from the sale of each ticket operates our scholarship program. 8 CHARITABLE SERVICES George Mickey Leland was America s most effective spokesman for hungry people in the United States and throughout the world. The Texas State Conference has named this project after this dedicated individual as he worked endlessly to solve the problems of domestic and international hunger and malnutrition. 3 We respectfully request that each Council, Court including your Junior Divisions, JOINTLY, submit the amount of monetary donations along with the amount of non-perishable items that will be contributed to the Annual George Mickey Leland Food Drive. The event should be scheduled on Saturday, March 24, TEXAS KPC 100 CLUB The birth of the Texas KPC 100 Club began by. With the purpose of strongly soliciting charitable grant requests and Religious Vocational Scholarship Requests by December, a maximum of $10,000 can be awarded for grants. A religious vocational scholarship, which is a one-time funding in the amount of $4,000 can be requested and if approved, $1,000 per annum will be distributed over the next four years. Currently, the Texas KPC 100 Club has over 1200 members and is ALWAYS accepting new membership. The goal is to ensure each Knight and Lady, within the state of Texas, become a member so that we can continue to perform the spiritual and corporal works of mercy in the name of our patron, Peter Claver. 3 University of Houston, Hobby Center for Public Policy Mickey Leland Biography

11 VETERANS SERVICE PROJECT During the 2016 Texas State Conference, the idea was finally envisioned to involve the men and women, who are currently serving and who have served our country, to develop a project, for those veterans, who are also members of our Noble Order. We encourage each subordinate unit to perform at least one project during the year in honor of our Veterans, to let them know that their sacrifice for this country was not and will not be taken lightly. We shall honor our veterans by planning and participating in a project that simply says, Thank You.
