In attempts to find out more information about the Easter Bunny, we accidentally ordered 100 Holland Lop Bunnies. This breed of bunny is popular as house pets, as they have a sweet temperament, non-aggressive behavior (though they retain a certain doglike tenacity) and because of its compact size and attractiveness. As an Easter gift, we have decided to give each family of KUMC an Easter Bunny rather than going through the hassle of trying to return them. They should arrive by Easter Sunday. 2 LIFE ON THE KINGDOM ROAD The Easter Secret of Happiness Dear Friends, An old story tells of a man who discovered that he had a deadly and untreatable disease. And with this knowledge came fear and great sorrow. For this man was a dreamer, and he had great visions, great aspirations for the future. Now he feared that those dreams would never come to pass. The man went to God to ask for help. Tell me your dreams, God said. I dream of a beautiful home, the man replied. You only had to ask, God said, and the man was standing in the middle of a palatial home, with beautiful furnishings and every possible comfort. The man was happy for a while, but then fear and sorrow returned. The man approached God again. This time, he told God of his dream of enough delicious food to completely fill his hunger. God replied, You only had to ask, and before him appeared mountainous piles of foods. The man began to eat, but then thoughts of his disease robbed him of satisfaction. So the man told God of another dream of the finest, clothes available. As before, God replied, You only had to ask. Marvelous attire now covered him as he walked through his mansion, plucking fine food off the tables. For a while he seemed happy, but the disease haunted his thoughts, for he knew he was going to die. The twin evils of sorrow and fear were always lurking in the back of his mind. This time, God came to the man and asked him why he was still unhappy. The man had one last dream: he wanted to be healed of his disease. But God said, I can offer you something even better. For I too, have dreamed dreams and had visions. What I can give you is my dream, my vision. It was, God assured him, a vision that would provide a happiness no disease could steal away. The man said, I want this very much. God replied, You only had to ask. And there before the man was Jesus. The cross was splintered, the grave thrown open, and Jesus, alive and in full vigor, stood before him smiling. The man gazed upon the vision, and then he slowly walked away. He left behind his palatial mansion, and his fine clothes, and his abundance of food. He didn t need them anymore. The disease was still with him, but it no longer clouded his thoughts. Nothing could possibly steal his happiness now. He had dreamed a dream and seen a vision from God, and he would carry that with him for the rest of his life and beyond. And at last he was truly happy. Many people through the ages have discovered that this is the secret of happiness. When we know Christ and understand that his death on the cross was on our behalf and that his victory over the grave was a promise of everlasting life, we know true peace and happiness that nothing can take away. KUMC will be honoring Pastor Dennis and Debbie with a meal after church on June 4. Meat, drink and dessert will be provided. Plan on attending with your favorite dish,and a great memory to share. Sign up sheets will be in Heritage Hall in May. There will also be an Open House that afternoon open to our community, church and camp friends. Don t forget your mother this upcoming on Sunday, May 14th Come to Camp Allegheny s Booster Dinner at 5:00pm on April 23rd for a great meal and updates on camp activities. A donation will be accepted for the meal and for Camp improvements. Call for reservations by Monday, April 17th On April at 7:00 PM at Camp Allegheny there will be a FREE CHRISTIAN CONCERT by the group SPOKEN. This should be a blessed night for all and you can't beat the price! Doors will open at 6:30. Silk Dyed Easter Eggs from ourbestbites.com Cut pieces of 100% silk large enough to cover an egg. Wrap as smoothy and tightly around egg as possible, with right side of fabric facing in, and secure with a twist-tie or piece of string. Repeat process, but wrap with a plain piece of lightweight fabric, like an old white pillowcase or sheet. The HOPPERS are presenting a Christian Music Concert on Friday, April 14th at 7pm at Everett High school in Everett, PA. A free will offering will be received. Place eggs in a large stock pot and cover with water at least 2 inches above eggs. Add 1/4 cup white vinegar. Bring pan to a boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer for 20 minutes and then use a pair of tongs to remove eggs and lay them (still wrapped) on layers of paper towels or an old dish towel. Let cool to room temperature and then remove the fabric wrappings. Store in the fridge until ready to display. If desired, rub with a small amount of vegetable oil for shine.
