Kidney Transplant Update: Members of Zion, I have set the date for my kidney transplant with the Mayo clinic on June 29 th. Likely I will have to travel to Rochester early that week for paperwork and planning for the surgery. The plan is that I would stay in the hospital for four days following the surgery. After that I would be released but have to stay in Rochester. We plan to stay in a facility called The Transplant House. Typically people stay in Rochester from two to four weeks following surgery, I m not entirely sure how long my stay will be. We will keep you updated about changes in the plan, if there are any. I am genuinely very thankful for your prayers and help. Please keep me, my brother, and our families in your prayers as we travel along on this journey. Blessings and peace, Pastor Aaron

VBS Craft Supplies needed: artificial flowers, artificial greenery/trees (please label if you would like them returned), construction paper, 2 ribbon, foam sheets, thin gauge wire, craft glue, small craft jewels, plastic table cloths, fleece/felt, buttons, large baskets, 12 large flower pots, 40 brown paper grocery bags. We will need Cookies for snack time. A sign-up sheet is posted on the East bulletin board in the Narthex for anyone who is willing to provide cookies. 3 Above you will find a letter of acceptance from Kyle McBee regarding the call to Zion. They are visiting Humboldt this weekend looking for a house. We welcome them to our worship services this weekend. At the beginning of June they will begin the transition moving from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Humboldt. We are planning a joint installation/ordination service on June 18 th at 3:00 p.m. Iowa District West President Steve Turner is able to be at the event, and the preacher will be a pastor friend of the McBees'. The 2017 Zion High School Senior Class Graduation Breakfast was held for the graduating high school seniors and their parents this morning, May 14 at 9:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Zion s High School Graduation Class of 2017 will then be recognized at the 10:00 a.m. worship service next Sunday, May 21. If you would like to receive the newsletter by , please let the church office know. All Students attending a Christian college are eligible for the Denny Moench Memorial Scholarship - the priority will be given to students attending an LC-MS university, other Lutheran college or university, and then a Christian college or University. Priority will be given to those students entering the field of Christian Education and if there are no applicants from that field then students in other areas will be eligible for the Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a college student from Zion who will be attending college for the school year. Application forms are available in the church office. The Evangelism Board is coordinating the Sunday Morning Fellowship COFFEES to follow the worship services during the summer. They will begin on June 4. Any group of individuals, families or Zion organizations are encouraged to sponsor a Sunday Morning Fellowship Coffee. A free will offering will be received to cover expenses with the remaining proceeds going toward a cause of their choice. Please sign up on the south east bulletin board in the Narthex. Thank you CAMP VBS: Vacation Bible School plans are underway! VBS will be held June 12-15, 9 a.m. to Noon, for age 4 through 6 th grade. The theme is Rome, Paul and the Underground Church. An unforgettable journey to firstcentury Rome! The program will be at 6:30 p.m. on June 15 with the Rome Market Place to follow with fun activities. KHBT LUTHERAN HOUR BROADCAST: The cost of broadcasting the Lutheran Hour on KHBT increased from $20 to $ The cost for the broadcast has not changed for many years. Recognizing that this is a significant increase the Evangelism Board will contribute $5 per radio broadcast with an additional $1.50 being provided from a second source. This brings to cost of sponsoring a broadcast to $25. We thank those who continue to support this wonderful ministry as we continue not only to bring Christ to the nations but Christ to Humboldt. 8 JR. LYC Scrip Program: Orders taken the 1 st and 3 rd Sunday of the month. Buying groceries, gas or giving as gifts you support the Jr. LYC. These cards allow Jr. LYC to make a reasonable profit: 1- Fareway 3 percent back, 2- Hy-Vee 5 percent back, 3- Casey s 3 percent back Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Fort Dodge, has an opening for a parttime Preschool Director/Teacher. Then we have an opportunity for you! Humboldt County Public Health is starting a new volunteer program to assist Humboldt Co. residents with transportation needs and respite needs within the family's home. If interested, contact Michelle Hankins at Humboldt Co. Public Health, Thank you. Camp Okoboji is looking for High School and College students that are looking for a summer job. They will pay $250 per week plus room and board. Various jobs are open, plus counseling with youth. If interested call Camp Okoboji at The Humboldt School Vocal Music Department Parade of Choirs Concert will be held Monday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m. in the R.W. Carlson Auditorium. The concert will include performances by the 6 th Grade Chorus, 7/8 Grade Chorus, and Concert Chorale. Concert Chorale will perform selections recently sung at the Iowa Large Group Music Festival, where they received a Division I rating. Come experience the musical development and growth as each choir sings. Concert admission is $3 for adults, and $2 for students. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1023 South 27th Street, Fort Dodge, will observe the Ascension of our Lord with a special worship service on Thursday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m. This will be a Divine Service including Holy Communion. The Rev. Edward Durand will be the Officiant with a message He s Still with Us" with the text being from the Gospel of Luke 24: The organist is Steve Long. The public is welcome to attend. Humboldt Farmers Market New Vendors Come & Go Meeting will be held on May 27 from 12:30-2 p.m. at the ISU Extension office at 727 Sumner Ave. Receive information on being a vendor!
